Chapter 27: Encounter
"My King, here are the weekly reports. A few days ago, the Head of the Feng Family was killed by the Clan Master of Bai Clan. However, Clan Master Huo, Qin and Bai vanished when Clan Master Bai invaded the 2 clans. Moreover, reports of a...devil was sighted at the scene," the Heavenly Diviner gravely reported the major events that had ensued.
"Feng Family?" The Human Emperor asked apathetically.
"Yes, My King. The Feng Family was assigned to govern the Phoenix City. A few years back, you even helped them to whittle down the strength of Bai Clan."
"Ah, I'll leave the appointment of the next head to you." The Human Emperor shrugged it off as if it was nothing.
"Yes, My King."
Unhurriedly, the Human Emperor leaned forward and inquired, "However, for Clan Master Bai to be able to kill the Head of Feng Family, his strength must surely be at the Spirit Ascension stage."
"I believe so, My King," The Heavenly Diviner agreed.
"Settle the appointment efficiently. I know it is hard of you to handle the palace matters by yourself. I will release some officials soon. keep up the good work."
"It is my duty, My King," The Heavenly Diviner remained impassive and obediently replied.
With that, the Heavenly Diviner respectfully retreated, leaving the Human Emperor alone in the Imperial Palace.
"Haha...HAHAHA!" What started off as a slight chuckle eventually erupted into fits of laughter.
"Looks like the Ancestral Devil is freed. It's time for him to fulfill his end of the deal," The Human Emperor's eyes shone with desire as he recalled the blood deal that he had made to the old devil.

"Alright! Listen up! The Human Emperor is generous this time round. Our King has given the decree that 100 virgin boys and girls respectively are to be summoned to the palace!" Elite General Yi stood infront of the entire village as made the announcement.
Such an important task assigned by the Human Emperor was not to be done carelessly. Over the years, he has learned that if you want to get something done perfectly, then do it yourself.
"As much as we would like to obey the King's orders, with all due respect sire, we have send 50 children the previous years and I am afraid that there would not be enough children this time round." The village chief gave a slight bow before explaining the situation of the village.
The village chief was around 40 years old. A lean middle aged man with a well proportioned face with a well trimmed beard, giving him a manly appearance.
"Hmm...Then give all of the children in your village," Elite General Yi pondered while rubbing his chin before coming up with a solution.
To him, this was the most efficient and most logical way of dealing with the unexpected problem that was presented infront of him.
Instantly, the villagers erupted in chaos as adults and elderly began to burst into discussion, while some tried to voice out the sheer madness of this idea.
The pupils of the village chief widened for a moment before returning back to normal. With a deel breath, he objected, "Sire, I don't mean to object but the children, at such a young age, still needs their par..."
Before he could finish his sentence, his head flew into the air as it summersalted back down, accompanied by a trail of blood from the neck, painting a horrific and graphic scene.
Instantly, the complaining villagers halted their protest as they watched the flying head of their village chief. Some felt to the ground as their knees gave way while others started to puke as their stomach churned vigourously.
Luckily, their children were left at home as it was only a gathering for adults.
"Anymore objections?" Elite General Yi asked aloof. He has done this multiple times, using violence was the quickest way to force people into submission.
The crowd remained silent, tonguetied.
"I said. Anymore objections?" He asked, his tone reaching a dangerously cold level.
"N-No Sire!" The villagers uttered in unison as they recovered from the initial shock; abielt still traumatized to a certain extent.
"Good. I expect all of the children to be gathered here by tonight. Anyone caught disobeying the rules will be executed without question."
With that, Elite General Yi nonchantly walked away, his face carrying a smirk. 'Ah...feels good to use violence again.'

"There's a village in front?" Shadow asked aloud, only to be met with several low growls.
When a beast reached Profound rank, they would gain the ability to understand human speech, however, they could not converse. Upon reaching Spirit rank, they would then be able to speak in human language.
A few days ago, Shadow discovered that he could understand what the beasts were saying when they were met with bandits.
Bandits were common throughout the region, especially on trade routes where "protection" fee was needed to ensure safe passage for the merchants. Even in places which were under the protection of the military, some of the soldiers were in cahoots with the bandits.
This was due to the increasing difficulty of living and the meagre salary that low ranking soldiers were paid.
As for the bandits that stopped Shadow, they were met with an ugly fate as several profound ranked beasts emerged from the shadows and trampled over their bodies.
As for their loot, namely 1,000 gold coins and a few White Qi pills, all went into Shadow's cosmic ring.
"And the Imperial army is in the village?" Shadow confirmed with the Profound beast once again.
"Alright, wait here for my command. I will go have a look." Without any further delay, Shadow flew towards the village with the colossal sword on his back.
As Shadow landed at the entrance of the village, several imperial soldiers that were on duty immediately pointed their spears at Shadow, "Halt! Who goes there?!"
Generally, the Imperial soldiers' cultivation level was at the Qi Formation stage, which is considered as quite formidable to most enemy. However, it is Shadow we are talking about here and Shadow, is no ordinary enemy.
"I'm Shadow. Remember my name. For I will be the death of you," Shadow gave a cold and succint reply.
Before the soldiers could respond, Shadow gave a slight wave of his hand, using his Spirit Qi to slice through their necks.
Shadow's coloured eyes radiated with vibrant red and gold before stepping over their corpse. Utilising his Spirit Qi, the gate opened as Shadow willed it.
Coincidentally, Shadow saw a man standing a few metres in front of him. That man abtuptly turned his head as he stopped sharpening his sword.
