Chapter 3: A Regret
Lyn's skin could not be seen as the black mist covered throughout his body. Lyn threw the long sword with great speed that it scattered the flame around it. The longsword stabbed at goat's neck and was stuck in it as red lightning flew out of it.
The goat made a painful cry as red lightning burned its inside.
The Chimera ignored the goat's in its back cried and lunged forward with its black claws. Lyn did not avoid it, thus, hitting him directly in the chest.
Lyn was sent backward sliding across the floor and the wall stopped his momentum. Lyn did not make a sound. Lyn could not feel the pain and only anger. The pill even boosted his overall strength and defense.
The armor of penance that the chimera attacked was sent back as a shockwave. The shockwave was had the same strength when it attacked Lyn. The chimera could not avoid it and hit it on its lion part head. It was able to penetrate through it skins and caused it to bleed. The goat attempted to heal, but it could not. It was slowly dying from the lightning.
The armor of penance shattered from the attack. It felled on the ground like broken rocks.
The chimera breathed out a large amount of fire, but it did not immediately burn Lyn into ashes.
The ring he wore resisted the fire and the mist mysteriously increased his resistance against the fire. Lyn's skin came out of the fire with a light burn.
A wind came from beneath Lyn's feet and launched him forward with great speed.
The Chimera did not expect that Lyn would dash through the fire and was caught off guard.
Lyn slammed his legs with the power of the wind on the lion's jaws.
When the lion was forced to closed its mouth while breathing fire, it burned parts of its inside in the process.
The snake attacked before Lyn was able to recover in footing, but Lyn rapidly responded to the snake by removing the long sword from the goat's neck. He cut the snake in half.
The goat was not completely died and launched another air pressure ball at Lyn before closing its eyes forever. The goat head flopped to the side as it dangled there like a loose leave.
With two of its three heads gone, the main body will eventually die along with them.
The chimera used whatever strength it had left to jumped at Lyn. Its claws ripped his left arm and part of his shoulder, thus, dropping his longsword. However, Lyn did not scream nor made any expression that he was in pain.
His right hand was then imbued with fire and he stabbed the chimera straight through its eyes. Fire exploded out of its eyes socket and nostril.
The Chimera threw Lyn to the side as it squealed in pain.
Buskly, who was the only one alive besides Lyn, saw something that terrified him. He did not know the side effect of the cursed rotu, nor how long the side effect will last, but he feared for Lyn.
The damage that the chimera had done to Lyn would normally kill anyone, but yet, he was able to counterattack every time no matter how bad the situation.
Buskly was able to scavenge Maeryn's rotu.
[Orb of the Vital tree - Slowly heal all wounds over time.]
The orb was Maeryn's reserved rotu and was to be bound when she completed the rank - 3 tower. And Buskly only had two rotu bounded to him, but using the orb will be his third. He will not able to equip another rotu until he becomes a rank - 4 rogue.
As Buskly slowly healed from his wounds, he can feel his strength slowly coming. He wanted to help Lyn, but he did not have the ability to do so.
He could only watch.
The chimera was on his final breath. Its face was extremely disfigured by Lyn, and its body was gradually weakening.
Lyn stood back up and dragged his feet to the Chimera.
The chimera only growled but it did not have the strength to defend itself.
Lyn right arm lit up bright red and smashed the chimera penetrating its skulls and splattering its brain matter all over.
Buskly felt relieved the chimera had died. He gave a sigh of relief.
"You did it, Lyn." Buskly looked at Lyn who still had black mist flowing out of his pores. But their eyes met, Buskly felt ever so tense.
It was the same eyes throughout the whole fight with the chimera.
Lyn walked over to Buskly and stared down at him with his red eyes.
"Lyn?"
Lyn picked up buskly and threw him against the wall.
Buskly coughed up blood and the wounds open up again. It did not take long before he realized that the cursed was more than recklessness way of fighting. It was a blind rage that prevented him from thinking straight.
"Lyn snapped out of it. You already killed the Chimera. We can leave the tower." But no matter what he said, Lyn came closer to him with a killing intent.
Lyn grabbed hold of Buskly's neck.
As a rogue, Buskly risked his life every day. It was like that for years, but he did not dislike his way of life. To him, it made him feel alive.
However, he always thought his death would be by a monster, not from his closest friends.
"I… am sorry. If I did not… invite Maeryn… you would not end up like this…" It was Buskly fault that Lyn ended up like this. He had a crush on Maeryn and wanted to help her advance to a rank - 3 rogue. He convinced Lyn to work with rank - 2 rogues that he did not know that well. He knew Lyn would not be comfortable teaming with someone that he was not confident in. He was a cautious person and that was why he reached rank - 4 before he did. If it was anybody else, he would instantly reject it. But because the two were childhood friends, Lyn agreed easily. "Even though I will die… you will live such a hellish life…I'm sorry... I pray… for a miracle… for you." Buskly shed his last tear for Lyn before a crack echoed throughout the chamber. Buskly last moment was filled with deep regret.
Lyn snapped Buskly neck and dropped him to the ground.
Without anybody around him, Lyn stood there absent mindlessly.
He did not move as his eyes laid lock on the now dead Buskly. He did not even realize that the man in front of him was once his friends.
The only thing that was moving was the black mist flowing around him.
