Chapter 3: Administering The Gene Regent.

A few hours passed before Rosedale found himself in the basement of his manor.

The system had finished analyzing Marissa's genes almost three hours ago. Yet, it took him nearly two more hours to figure out what to use for the equipment.

The system required futuristic instruments, however, none of these devices were possible. Hence, a thin metal needle used for torturing devils was his best option for poking his arm. It was mixed in with a few glasses from his shelves and an impromptu petri dish. Basically, it was two glass plates that he'd push together. Luckily, in the box the system came in, he had a microscope from his lab. There was also a miniature device for printing genes. It was a like a scientist's traveling emergency kit. Yet, unfortunately, the other tools were in his lab back on earth.

It was unfortunate that he didn't think to pack anything else in the box that came with the system. It was only good for gene production. Yet, for withdrawing blood, he'd need to manually shove the needle into to him. After it was administered, he'd hopefully unlock a new power.

Now he had to stab himself with the needle. He placed his arm down on the table as the oil lamp flickered. Unfortunately, the lights weren't installed in the basement. It was mostly a wine cellar his past-self installed for his collection of various wines.

The only table there had a glass case around it, and a diamond bottle his father, Roland, had given to him. He placed it carefully to the side of the desk.

'So, now I just got to get my blood out of my arm,' Rosedale thought and stared. A quick blow into his hand was what he finally decided on. Blood dripped out onto the plate as he examined his blood.

Rosedale Wimbledon

HP: 50 / 50

Class: Prince

Leadership; 40

Fluid Intelligence: 165

Charisma: 10

Blood type: ????

Awakening: None

Abilities: None

[Ding! System is analyzing blood. Out of over 10,000 genes, there are three genes linked to your mother Anna that allow for abilities. One is related to her ability to use fire. Two are hidden abilities from her ancestors that she has not yet unlocked.]

Rosedale nodded as he patched up his hand.

[It would be recommended you learned first gene. However, it is 96% likely you will experience mutation. Unfortunately, fire ability is not guaranteed.]

Rosedale sighed when he heard this.

As a genetic scientist, he was aware of how genes worked. They could mutate, rarely during births, but were volatile under experimental conditions. Hence, even though he had his mom's fire gene, he had no idea what ability he would get.

"Fine, make all operations based on first gene," Rosedale said, "Please also prepare the gene for administration."

[Confirmed. 10 minutes until preparation of gene is complete.]

….

Five minutes passed quickly.

Rosedale sat back and ate once again.

In this body, it was almost like he was always hungry. He also noticed impulses for women he hadn't felt in years. In his last life, he was already thirty-five. At that point in time, his desires for women had long bent back to a healthy level. Yet, in this body, he was twenty and in the prime of his life. It was fortunate because gene modification was more successful in younger patients.

Regardless, he began thinking up plans for what he should do to stop the invasion of the hell spawn.

He was aware of what his two brothers, and two younger sisters were planning. They wanted to use a team of well trained witches to kill the enemy's commander. Yet, even if they did make it through the siege, kill their way through hundreds and thousands of beasts, how exactly were they supposed to find the leader?

All the information they had about the hell spawns was given to them from a captured incubus. He was just some low pawn and Rosedale knew better than to trust him. Basically, he told them the commander was camped outside the base waiting to strike. Yet, he knew not to trust it thanks to his research on ancient history.

Basically, he knew that if he was the enemy commander he'd probably stay safe away from the battle front. The man was most likely far away from Redwater river locateds somewhere in Wolf heart kingdom.

If he was a lord of devils, that was probably what he would do.

But what did his family decide? Basically, even though his past reincarnation disagreed with the plan, not for the same reasons of course, and voiced his opinion they ignored the philanderer. He was deemed worthy of giving pigs advice, which was there name for the peasant army. So his suggestion was brushed off.

Basically, to his brothers and sisters, they'd rather attack alone with the elite witches.

That plan, obviously, wasn't going to work.

However, he didn't have more time to contemplate what he could do to stop them from going.

The next moment he felt a pinch as the box floated over to him. It immediately injected him with the gene reagent.

[Ding! System is commencing administering gene reagent. Expected pain out of a a scale of 1 – 10 should be around 9. Please bear with it for twenty minutes.]

"Please administer pain killer immediately," Rosedale said, "It should come with the kit, right?"

[No access to pain killers. Unfortunately, only metal components survived transport due to temperature. However, alcohol is a pain killer. Please drink. Time remaining until pain threshold is reached, 5 seconds.]

Rosedale gulped. The only bottle near him was the glass bottle from his dad. Even though he wanted to, as he grabbed it, he couldn't bare drink it!

"Aaaaahhhhhhh!"

...

Thirty minutes later the door to the manor opened.

An extremely shocked council board member ran down the stairs. He immediately dropped the plate that he was holding along with a letter from his angered brother. Basically, his brother was indignant at his new title as lord of treasury. Before he only had to worry about recruitment, but now his lascivious brother gave up his post according to Merissa. Charles immediately ordered one of the board to go talk to Rosedale. Yet, the messenger was not expecting to see this.

"Rosedale, are you alright?"

The council men ran down the stairs immediately and picked up Rosedale's head.

"My majesty! What happened to you? My majesty!"

He picked him up noticing the sticky gunk oozing out of his body. He had no idea what was going on, but Rosedale would be well aware of it once he woke up. However, it took him thirty minutes to do so. When he finally woke up he was up in his bedroom. A few of the maids washed him off, his clothes were changed, and a bottle of wine with pork was at his table.

"Were you calling me Jeffrey," Rosedale said as vision began to clear.

A moment later, he looked over at the side of the bed. It wasn't only Jeffrey, but his half-sister as well. Merissa was there along with that chamberlain of his house, Jeffrey, his most important aid.

"Sir, we're so glad you're alright! We were certain you were dead!" Jeffrey said with a shocked expression on his face.

Rosedale, as his vision corrected itself, looked and notice the dry tears on Merissa's face. Something definitely had happened. However, he really hoped it wasn't a tragedy. There wouldn't have been an attack right now, right? Especially considering the nigh impenetrable barrier around the city.

"Uhm, no I'm still very much alive," Rosedale said. "I think I just drank too much. That must be what happened."

Merissa leaned in closely before she placed her head against Rosedale's body. Her gorgeous locks seemed to coil around him. Her curiosity was also evident as she smothered her rosy cheeks into his pecks. At this moment, her ears wiggled waiting for that once vanquished heartbeat to return.

Yet a second later she looked shocked.

"How are you breathing with such a slow heart beat?"

She looked at Rosedale with a worried expression.
