Chapter 42: Daughter’s Identity (Last)

From Feng Furen's wrist, dark clouds began to form and part of her hair began to grow silvery white.

Moreover, the time in the entire room had begun to slow down as if the time was no longer willing to run at its own pace.

Hui Lan's brows became furrowed.

...All of this, was it because of that bracelet?

...It must be.

Then all of a sudden, the window beside the room crashed open. Sunlight from outside beamed inside.

However, everything felt all sluggish in Hui Lan's eyes, but her brain was telling her otherwise. Even the sunlight was travelling slower than how it would have been.

From the broken window, two big sharp claws appeared at the same speed of the sunlight and then the owner of those two sharp claws was finally revealed.

A huge midnight black owl came dashing in with its sharp claws directing towards Feng Furen. Its long yellow beak was also wide open as it came flying in.

Hui Lan's heart was beating furiously.

...No!

Immediately, she raised her legs towards the chair that she had been sitting on. However, her movement was just as slow as the owl that was flying in.

Nevertheless, Hui Lan's feet did touch on the chair and when she did she quickly took her next step on the table in front of her.

Without knowing, Hui Lan's moonlight jade bracelet was also beginning to shine brighter and brighter.

As she took another step on the table, her legs did not feel as heavy as before. It was as if she could walk faster, but it was just a split of seconds faster…

The black night owl did not even look at Hui Lan and was only aiming itself at Feng Furen like she was its only prey.

Hui Lan turned to glance at the owl that was at the same distance with her between Feng Furen. Her heart began to race faster as she became anxious for Feng Furen's safety.

Meanwhile, Hui Lan's jade bracelet began to grow brighter and this time it began to grow warmer and warmer on Hui Lan's wrist.

Finally, Hui Lan could feel the heat that was coming from her bracelet that she had been keeping on her at all times.

When she looked down to see what was happening around her wrist, her head was full of confusion.

The jade bracelet was now lighting up so brightly. Moreover, those dark clouds were slowly being absorbed into her bracelet.

She could only watch as those streaks of dark lines made their way towards her bracelet…

...What was happening?

Nevertheless, her legs did not stop from running towards Feng Furen. It was the slowest running she had ever done in her entire 29 years of living.

As she was close to Feng Furen, she reached one hand to the black bracelet on Feng Furen's wrist and one to push the black owl away.

Seeing an obstruction coming in its way, the owl finally turned it's yellow eyes coldly towards the hand that was aiming at him.

...She dared to push him!?

Immediately, the midnight colour owl shifted it's direction and was able to divert itself of Hui Lan's hands.

Hui Lan pursed her lips in irritation.

...That owl!

Meanwhile, the black midnight owl smirked as he looked down on the girl.

...Who did she think she was?

Hui Lan gasped. In an offended tone, she spoke in her head, "Who do you even think you are!? Just a bully!?"

The midnight owl became stunned.

...Was he hearing things? Whose voice was that?

Hui Lan rolled her eyes before speaking again, "Who do you think it was!?"

"Aaaaark!" A loud shriek rang in Hui Lan's head.

"Oh please, save your mind power for something else. Whoever you are, get your claws away from Feng Furen!" Hui Lan warned coldly as she shifted her hands to push the owl away.

The black owl became silent for a brief moment before its voice rang in Hui Lan's head, "No, I'm not going to hurt my princess." As it spoke, its eyes became caught on Hui Lan's beaming bracelet on her wrist and how she was reaching for Feng Furen's bracelet. Seeing that she was also reaching for the bracelet, it quickly spoke, "You, take that bracelet off of my princess' wrist!"

"Ah?" Hui Lan did not expect to hear such words coming from the black owl.

The dark streaks of clouds that were swirling around the black bracelet grew larger as time passed.

"Hurry!" The midnight owl's eyes grew wider as it could see the darkness grow.

Hui Lan turned her attention back to taking the wrist off at once.

Her hands were finally reaching closer and closer towards the black bracelet, but it was even harder than ever as her hand grew closer to it. As her hand grew closer, the dark clouds were all averting itself from her. Hui Lan's jade bracelet was also beaming even brighter and even hotter on her wrist.

However, Hui Lan did not even turn to look at her bracelet that was beginning to burn on her wrist.

Meanwhile, the midnight owl watched edgily as it looked as if the two jade bracelets were clashing at each other. Moreover, the young girl's bracelet was also beginning to burn on her hand.

...Two of Heaven's candidates in once place...how interesting.

This was definitely Princess' daughter. However, because the princess' daughter's soul was no longer there, hence he did not recognise her.

...For the real Feng Hui Lan was not there anymore, so her soul was not familiar to him.

Now, he would have to cross his claws and hope that this human would be able to resist such power that was leaking from his princess' bracelet or else...it would be over for them and this entire building.

When Hui Lan's fingers touched onto the black jade bracelet, instantly, the dark clouds stopped moving around Fen Furen's bracelet. The room became bright again and the midnight owl was able to flap its wings as normal.

Then, slowly, the bracelet began to break down into small dust. The skin of the bracelet began to deteriorate little by little.

"Little girl, get away from there!" The black midnight owl cried in alarm.

However, it was too late.

Hui Lan's body was pushed away by an unseen force which sent her body flying away. However, her body was pulled back again before she was pushed back and crashed onto one of the room's wooden pillars.

Instantly, the wooden pillar was broken into pieces and Hui Lan's body went flying further away onto the floor.

Meanwhile, the midnight owl had flown higher above away from the force. It was hovering in the air, but its heart grew in alarm as it watched the young lady being pushed away from the force.

...Oh, dear.

He feared the only person who could help her was none other than his princess.

However, would his princess even treat the person who had taken over her daughter's body?

Nevertheless, he did not hesitate to wake his princess up.

"Princess!" His voice rang into Feng Furen's conscious mind where both shared their own link between each other.

Inside his princess' mind, he could still feel those cold dark clouds swirling around.

"Xiao Chao, you're back." Feng Furen's weak voice replied in their telepathy.

"Princess, wake up please."

Unlike the midnight owl's hurried voice, Feng Furen spoke slowly, "Xiao Chao, my Lan-er, she's gone…"

"I know princess, but I'm afraid to tell you that she might be gone for the second time."

Xiao Chao's voice immediately caught her attention, "What?"

"She saved you from the blast, but now she seemed to have taken all the blast to herself."

"What are you talking about?" Feng Furen still did not understand.

"Princess, you let the darkness cover your heart to the point that our pure connection would have been cut off entirely. Moreover, that bracelet had defections but you still used it ah. Why did you take such risks ah?"

Feng Furen's tears began falling again, "I just...wanted to know the truth."

"So you used it to find the truth from that little girl?"

Feng Furen became quiet.

"You should go tend to her now, princess. She not only took the blow from the bracelet's force but also her own jade bracelet must have left a burnt mark on hers by now. Only you would know how to save her for you are the owner of that power." Xiao Mao quickly explained.

"She did all of that?" Feng Furen asked doubtfully. This girl, she was not her daughter, why would she do such a thing?

"Whether you believe it or not, she did all of that and is receiving all your power in her body right now. If you don't take your power out soon, not only her body but her soul would probably begin to burn from holding too much power."

Hearing such consequences, Feng Furen became worried, "Where is she?"

"Princess, open your eyes…" Xiao Chao's voice became faint in Feng Furen's head.

Slowly, Feng Furen's eyes that had been shut slowly opened once again.

Finally, she could see where the Hui Lan was. The girl was laying on the floor quietly. It was as if she had fallen asleep, but all those bruises and scratches around Hui Lan's body told otherwise.

Feng Furen's heart could not help but become anxious as she saw Hui Lan lying lifelessly on the floor.

Hui Lan's moon jade bracelet slowly dimmed out and indeed there was a red burnt mark on her wrist.

Feng Furen bit her lips as her heart was engulfed with different kinds of emotions. She closed her eyes in pain as they were all attacking her at the same time.

However, in the end, Feng Furen's body swiftly flew over the table in front of her and landed on the other side of the table.

The middle-aged lady began making her way towards Hui Lan's weak body.

When Hui Lan was lying below her feet, she silently kneeled down.

Feng Furen looked at Hui Lan in silence as her eyes were searching for something or someone.

...Where was her daughter?

But there were no answers for her.

.

.

.

After all, Feng Furen leaned forward. When she was close to Hui Lan, she gently supported Hui Lan's fragile body up in her arms.

There were no answers for her, but her actions seemed to be her own answer.

What was left from the blast was Feng Furen slowly supporting her daughter in her arms towards the inner rooms where her own bed was.

Hui Lan was being supported in silence.

However, being lifted up from the floor, Hui Lan's last strength enabled her to slowly open her eyes.

At first, everything was all blurry, but as her eyes came to focus, someone's familiar face came into her line of sight.

But her eyes did not stay open for long before she could not handle it anymore and everything went dark again.

...Was she dying?
