Chapter 24: Dinners... Are Even Worse?? (4)

Soren's bowl of ramen was truly big. It was at least twice the size of the bowls given to Martin and Jake, and was filled to the bream with blistering hot broth, pork and vegetables. Most likely a normal eater wouldn't even be able finish a single bowl, let alone the second required for the discount.

Jake happily exclaimed "Let's eat!"

However, before he, or anyone else could begin eating, they were stopped by the brutal assault scene that suddenly took place before them. Victim - Giant Ramen Bowl. Attacker - Soran. It was truly pitiful. The giant ramen bowl never stood a chance. It disappeared with only a couple light slurping sounds of protest.

Yes, before anyone else had even started eating, Soran had managed to instantaneously finish a giant bowl of ramen that a normal person couldn't eat in an hour.

Youran: "Sigh... If only my casting speed were this fast I would be unrivaled..."

Jake: "Is this some form of training? His arm was moving at blinding speeds!"

Martin: "..."

Art: "Exactly which part of this man attracted me?"

Soran didn't even notice the odd looks he was getting from the rest of the table, happily calling out to the waiter for a second bowl. The waiter stammered, pale-faced in shock, before going to fetch another bowl while resolving to stay and watch him eat this time, suspecting that some sort of space magic was used to send the food to another dimension...

Having requested another bowl, Soran finally looked around the table to see how everyone else was faring. Blank faces greeted him.

"Heh... I guess I was a little bit hungry." He said shamelessly.

(-_-||| )

Even the other guests at the restaurant stared judgmentally at this peak-efficiency disposal system.

"Yes... That's Soran eating. The problem is his speed is less astonishing compared to the volume he eats..." Art spoke helplessly to the others.

"Oh right. You saw me eating at lunch... I might become slightly worse at dinner..." Soran smiled brightly.

"Why am I suddenly feeling scared for this restaurant?" Youran asked.

Art nodded sagely. "Yes, they will likely be out of ramen ingredients by the end of the night and not even receive a single dollar for all their efforts."

"Oy, it's cause of the techniques I practice. Both my mana cultivation technique and physical fitness routine cause me to need to consume an unnatural amount of calories. No judging." Soran finally spoke out to defend himself.

Youran smirked, and just said, "Sure, whatever you say Giant Ramen Bucket."

Everyone else finally began to eat their food while Soran pouted as he waited for his second bowl to arrive. Soran suddenly straightened up, an excellent idea coming to his perverted mind. He casually hid his chopsticks under the table.

Art was taking his time eating, enjoying the succulent taste of his salmon, when he suddenly felt a poke on his side.

"Let me try your salmon." Soran said, sounding exactly like a spoiled five year old.

Art nodded his ascent and pushed his plate a little towards Soran.

"Don't have anything to eat with. You have to feed me."

Art looked and saw that there were indeed no chopsticks in front of Soran. He must have sent them back with his ramen. Art offered his chopsticks to Soran.

"It's not good to use other's chopsticks."

Since when was that a superstition? No, since when were mages even superstitious?

Soran continued staring at him. Youran was holding in her laughter and mentally giving a huge thumbs up to Soran.

".... Fine." Art acquiesced reluctantly, unable to take Soran's pitiful stare.

Art, blushing a crimson red, raised a bite of salmon to Soran's mouth, who tenderly closed his pink lips around it.

'Hmmm, the salmon itself is pretty good. Why does it taste so much better having been fed by Art?' Soran savored the taste of the salmon, but took more pleasure in the shy but happy look on Art's face. The two stared at each other for a moment, each filled with different thoughts but the same emotions.

It was at this moment that Kane happened to walk into the restaurant. Seeing this scene, he paled and disappeared back into the night, he himself unsure of exactly what had come over him... 'Why should I care who he feeds? I don't! They're nothing but too simpletons! Art doesn't even come from a mage family! But... What is this suffocating feeling I have right now??' Kane's thoughts were jumbled together, his mind somehow pushed into disarray from the loving scene he had witnessed.

'Ahhh! Their first indirect kiss! Way to go, Soran-sama! Use any and all tricks you can to quickly subdue Art-sama! Hyaa! How could I forget to document (record) such a momentous occasion?' Youran's thoughts were just running just as wildly as Kane's.

Art took his chopsticks back, but Soran kept staring at him.

"Hmmph. No more. I need to eat too Ramen Bucket." Hmph. Taking advantage of me. I'll get my revenge one day.

Soran returned to pouting for a moment, but was fortunately soon distracted by the arrival of his second bowl of ramen.

--------------------------

One hour later. Everyone had long since finished eating... Except Soran. He was not even showing any signs of slowing down.

The owner of the restaurant had fallen to his knees on the ground outside, tears streaming down as his cheeks as wondered which god he had offended.

"Why!? WHY? God... I'll go out of business.... We already told him the discount doesn't go below 100 percent off... but he's still eating... 12 bowls... A monster has come to devour my restaurant!"

Back inside, Youran suddenly stood up.

"Well, Martin, Jake and I are gonna head out now. Art, you accompany Soran as he finishes his meal." The trio had been exchanging hand signals, and ruthlessly condemned Art to his fate.

Although they had initially been slightly admiring of Soran's eating ability, they could no longer fell anything other than numbness. The wails of the owner outside and the awkward stares of the waiters had gotten to be too much to bear. Reaching an agreement, they muttered some hasty excuses and escaped the restaurant after leaving some money on the table.

Art: "...."

Soran: "...."
