For the next three hours Rose decided to read her book, turning the radio on in the background. It helped her feel more at ease whenever she was by herself. It was a disc that her mom had gotten her. It had old piano tunes, and a couple slow songs that her mother and her sang when she was younger. Each piano song had been created by her grandmother and grandmother. she heard a glass shatter between two of the songs, making her jump. Standing up, she slowly peeked into the kitchen. The cupboard doors were opened and there was broken glass on the ground. As she got closer to the room, a cold breeze flew past her, and she thought she heard a whisper.
"It's probably nothing," She thought to herself. "I probably left the window opened."
She closed the cupboard doors and grabbed the broom and dust pan, starting to sweep up the glass. The dust pan filled and she dumped it in the trash and turned around to continue cleaning it, when she saw the glimpse of a shadow on the ground leaving the living room. She stepped over the glass and glanced down the hallway towards the bedrooms.
"Jonathan? Is that you?" She called. "Josie."
She got no reply. She crept down the hallway slowly and peeked into each room, trying to find the source of the shadow. When she peeked into Josie's room, she saw the closet door wide open. All of the clothes had been removed and were all over the floor and strewn across the bed. It was as if someone had been trying to find something. Quickly, she picked up the clothes and hung them back in the closet, closing the door when she was finished. She left the room after making sure everything was in place, and went back to the kitchen. While walking down the hallway, she felt something sharp go into her foot making her wince. When she looked at the bottom of her foot, she saw that a small glass shard had gone through her skin, and she was bleeding.
Making sure not to step on that foot, or step on anymore glass, she cleaned up the rest of the shards. She was confused as to how the shard got into the hallway, but pushed it off, thinking it had probably attached to her pant leg and fallen off. She was more worried about the shadow she had seen. If an animal got into the house then they'd have to find a way to get it out, without harming it.
After cleaning up all the glass she went to the bathroom to clean up her foot. Using tweezers, she pulled out the glass shard from her foot. It was small and didn't go that far in, so she wrapped it up. The bathroom door was opened, so she could see into the living room. Suddenly, the radio turned off. She peeked out of the door and looked towards the radio. The disc part was up and the disc was on the floor, upside down. Looking around, she walked out of the bathroom and picked up the disc, flipping it over. The whole top of it was covered in a dark red liquid, that seemed to have just been put there. Her eyes widened as she stared at it, the color quickly draining from her face.
Blinking, she looked at the disc and it was clean. "Must've just been my imagination."
She put the disc in its case and sat down on the couch, turning on the t.v to keep her mind off of it. She'd talk to Tom about it when he got back. He needed to know in case anything else that was weird happened.
