Chapter 14: Koopa
As Ezekiel was about to close the door he heard a voice shout "Hey neighbor! Help me out real quick! I am in a predicament!".
Ezekiel paused as he turned around and looked out into the hall. There was still a ton of people packing their items into their dorm rooms. As he had only a bag with clothes in it he did not need to pack much, so he wasted no time moving in.
He was the only one who answered the call of help, as all the other students were busy with their own things. Ezekiel looked around before he heard the shout again "Hurry up please!".
The shout came from the room directly across from him, so he walked out into the hall and entered the room.
When he entered the room what he saw left him dumbfounded. He stood there in shock, and bewilderment as he saw something he never had before.
There in the middle of the room lay a half turtle half man, who was currently on its back flailing his arms around trying to right himself. Seeing this comical scene made Ezekiel start laughing. This was Ezekiel's first time seeing a beastman, but now that he thought about it a lot of the student he passes on his way here were also not human. He was just too deep in thought to notice.
"Hey! I don't care much if you laugh, but help me up first would ya?!" the turtle boy exclaimed.
Ezekiel complied as he went over and helped the kid right himself while laughing all the while. He eventually stopped laughing, but started up again when the turtle boy tried to sit on his bed, but instead tripped on his bag falling flat on the floor again.
Ezekiel patted the turtle on the back and said "You are genius! Is this a comedy act you have been practicing?" he said as he laughed.
The turtle boy sat in a huff and said "What comedy act? I don't see why people should get pleasure out of my troubles! Father said that a woman may one day come to love this clumsy side of me".
Hearing this Ezekiel stopped laughing as he now grasped this turtles pain. He patted him on the shoulder to try and cheer him up.
"Anyways whats your name? I am Ezekiel Kairais, lets be friends!" he said as he reached out his hand.
The turtle boy looked at him through his glasses and said "Alright, you seem like a intellectual individual. My name is Koopa Torupa. Nice to meet you!"
"Mind if I ask what classes you are taking this year?" Ezekiel asked as he began to like this clumsy turtle kid.
"I am taking Alchemy, Botany, and Beastman cultivation. How about you?"
"Oh you are taking Alchemy, then we will be in the same class together! This is perfect!" Ezekiel exclaimed happy that his new friend had the same class as him. Back at the village he did not have many friends because he was ostracized due to his smarts.
"That is great! Me and you will be the top of the alchemy class then!" He said as he high fived Ezekiel.
"Oh I also have a beast taming class also." He added on.
"WHAT!" Koopa screeched as he heard this. He gulped as he leaned closer and said "I heard that for the final exam in the beast taming class you are required to go into the Dark Oak forest and tame an Earth Rank-5 beast at minimum." He said with fear in his voice.
The beasts in Dark Oak ranged from Earth Rank all the way till peak Sky Rank. There was also rumors of a few low Heaven Rank beasts, but those were just rumors and there was no concrete evidence to prove them.
"An Earth Rank-5 you said?" Ezekiel gasped in awe. He had already seen an Earth Rank-3 Lynx, and saw how terrifying that was, so imagining an Earth Rank-5 made shivers go down his spine.
Koopa raddled his head shaking his glasses up and down. He was naturally scared of pain and danger, that is why he took Alchemy and Botany classes. His father forced him to take beastman cultivation classes because without them he would not be accepted into the school. All races had to take their respective cultivation class after all.
"Well that is still a long time away, maybe by that time I will be strong enough to take down one of them by myself." Ezekiel said shrugging it off.
"Well you better hope so, because if not you will fail the class." Koopa smirked at his misfortune. Koopa turned to pick up his glasses that fell off his face as he glanced at the clock on his dresser. He nearly jumped out of his shell when he saw the time.
He picked up his glasses and sprinted out the door dragging Ezekiel along with him. "Come on we are going to be late to the Welcoming Ceremony! If we are late we will be punished by the Disciplinary Committee!" he yelled.
'There was a welcoming ceremony?' Ezekiel thought as he was now even happier that he met his new friend. He was originally going to cultivate his [Soaring Sky] movement technique that he got from completing his mission, but now he was being dragged towards the welcoming ceremony.

I am currently writing another story, and daily updates for both stories puts too much of a burden on me, so this one's updates will have to decrease.
