Chapter 55: I'll save you

Now Nobunaga was away the castle became a lot more dull for Harumi. Of course she still had a lot to do every day, but Nobunaga always found time to goof around with her, now that he wasn't here she missed her buddy. She still had Hidemasa who tried to cheer her up and who almost every day came to visit and her maids but it just wasn't the same. She knew Nobunaga had to do all this stuff, but that didn't mean she particularly liked it. She could put her head trough a wall when she thought about Nobunaga is this way. She had made a packs with herself to not get involved with anybody from this era and some way or another Nobunaga had managed to weasel his way into her heart. And Nobunaga wasn't the only one, her maids, some of the warlords and other castle personal ment a grave deal to Harumi. For the last six moths they had been living under the same roof and they felt like family. The thought of leaving them behind broke her heart but she knew she couldn't stay. This just wasn't her place. She didn't belong in this time. She had her own life, with her own friends and family in her own time. This whole experience had been a double edged sword for her. She had learned so much and had met so many wonderful people that she was truly grateful and thought about this whole ordeal as a blessing. But when she thought about the fact that she would eventually leave everything behind, it felt more like a curse. If she had never got to know all these people, she wouldn't miss them in the future. But was missing them worse than not knowing them at all? Harumi didn't know.

Bored she looked out of the window while her tea was slowly getting cold. It was late in the afternoon and the sun would soon begin to set. Ever since Nobunaga has left for Honno-ji castle she did have an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. She was certain that she heard the name of that castle somewhere before but she had no idea where. For the past few days she had wrecked her brain to remember were she had heard it, to no avail. If she couldn't remember it would probably mean that it wasn't very critical information. Now that she thought about it, she wasn't even sure she had heard that name before. All the castle names sounded similar to her.

In a flash she remembered one of her history classes. She remembered where she had heard that name before. Cold sweat piled up on her back while she tried to stand up as soon as possible.

"What is it, Nohime?" Rike-chan asked scared when she saw Harumi's expression.

"Get a horse ready!" What the only thing Harumi shouted while she ran past her youngest maid to her bedroom. Forcefully she opened her closet and pulled all her clothes out. Normally she would he very careful not to wrinkle the kimono's and other clothes but now she couldn't care less. Finally she found her long and thick overcoat. She didn't bother putting the other stuff back in her closet, instead she put the overcoat on and ran back to her living room.

"I'm going to Nobunaga." Was the only explanation she gave her two other maids who had been anxiously following Harumi since she had jumped up from her place by the window sill. Without waiting for their reaction Harumi stormed out to the stables. Some of the people that she encountered on her way there asked her what was wrong but she ignored everyone. When she finally arrived at the stables she stable boy just brought out her horse, Himawari. Without a second though Harumi jumped up the horse.

"Which way is Honno-ji castle?" She asked the man.

"South east from here, two hours on horseback." He said, not really sure why the lady of the castle had to know that. If someone gave her directions using cardinal points she wouldn't have known what to do with it but now she knew. She could tell time and het location using the sun and the stars.

"Open the gates!" She yelled across the courtyard while she urged the horse to move forwards. Himewari began moving directly and before they had left the castle she was already galloping.
