Chapter 10: This is what you call luck
Alexander was lazily eating his porridge as he was deep in thought about his career, he was a hunter by profession, he had his own team who ventured into the woods to hunt for game. The world of Thetes might be magically advanced but technology here was very primitive, due to the influence of the thick Mana in these lands even wild goats were big and ferocious and this made them difficult to breed and farm. Only with the help of the magic can the livestock be grown. For a small and poor village like theirs it was literally impossible to get help from a mage to breed livestock, so they could be only hunted. Hunting was itself perilous as the woods didn't house only goats so their expedition only had a success rate of 50%.
Alex's train of thought were disturbed by his daughter Rose who ran towards him hurriedly and told him what Ed said to her. Alex didn't believe her but he had nothing better to do so he promised her that he will look into it. As he finished his dinner he leisurely walked out of his house. After he reached the village center he could see people were hurriedly running towards the newly built compound that was at the outskirts of the village. Alex knew about the owner of the compound as his wife lost her job today because of that prick. He then stopped a young man who was hurrying towards the compound, the young man was angry at being stopped but when he saw the muscular Alex he swallowed back the insults that were at the tip of his tongue and respectfully replied to Alex's questions.
Alex found from the man that there was indeed a beast incursion, since he was busily running to fetch his team he forgot how Rose had gotten hold of the information.
It took some time to gather his team and they set off right away to hunt down the beasts, but by the time they got to the compound all they could find were some injured animals while majority had returned back to the woods. But even the remaining injured animals were tough to deal for the villagers. Alex and his team entered the fray and fought the remaining animals while others tried to look for survivors, while some looted the corpses.
At the break of Dawn Alex and his team killed off the remaining animals, they had made quite the harvest this time as the materials from the beast corpses can be put to different uses. If the total value were to be taken in terms of money it would amount to 5 silvers, which was a huge amount for the hunters.
Alex and his team only collected the animal corpses and didn't resort to looting corpses for their jewelry.
As they were about to depart , armed guards began to surround the compound and Alex could see the village chief accompanying a government official.
The government official had come fast because it involved his higher official and some influential clans. The official surveyed the surrounding and all he could see were mangled corpses that were beyond recognition. He passed the order to confiscate all valuables that were looted from the corpses. The guards went to search the people who were assembled there, one of the guards came to inform the official about the carriage full of shackled children,as there were lot of witnesses he couldn't suppress this information and decided to release them and gave them some copper coins as compensation, the children were more than happy as they had been rescued and given some money, they decided to stay in the near by village as they had no where to go. The chief was a kind person so he allocated a small building where they could stay.
The people left dejectedly as they were forced to hand over the valuables they stole from the corpses.
Alex and his team only had the corpses of the wild beasts so they were let off.
After all the people left the government official sealed the whole area and collected all the corpses to hand over to their relative the jewels had also to be returned. But even after searching the official couldn't find the lord Enforcers spacial treasure ring. He guessed that the ring must be in the belly of the wild animals as he couldn't locate the fingers.
Back at the royal capital of Saurd kingdom
The news of the illegal human auction held by the Cavler family spread like wild fire, the families who had sent their representatives to the auction blamed the Cavler family for their lapse in security, the slavers demanded the money from the auction. Finally due to heavy pressure from various factions the king had to disband the Cavler family and sell off its assets to settle the dispute. The head of the Cavler family Roger Cavler , father of William was assassinated by some influential family due to a previous grudge.
If William were to hear about this from hell he would surely regret visiting the cursed village and if he ever knew this was all related to Jennifer he would die again due to heart attack.

Back at the village
Ed went back to his house, Jennifer was still unconscious.
He took out all the spoils of the battle and looked at them with a great sense of accomplishment. He had obtained a total of 25 silvers and 50 copper in money and a mysterious ring. With this money he could buy back his mothers wedding ring and still save some for buying herbs to detoxify the willow mushroom that was in his possession.
After hiding away the cash he took and analysed the ring, it looked like a ordinary ring but he knew that a man like the Enforcer wouldn't wear such cheap jewelry. So Ed injected a strand of Mana into it and was flabbergasted by what he found. He had obtained a spatial treasure, even back at his world there were no treasure like this. So Ed looked into it with curiosity only to be shocked again
Ed had reaped a great harvest from the current endeavor, truly this is what it is called to be lucky.
