Chapter 2: No way Out

"Now come here, beloved" her eyes a cold red. His body moved against his will as those words compelled him to move & he knew immediately this is what must've been stalking him.

It was about a month ago when he attended the carnival for the 1st time that he came in contact with her. He stood by the cotton candy machine when what he could only describe to be a goddess approached him.

"How may I help you?" He stuttered as she just simply stood there with a firm gaze that left him helpless.

She leaned into him & whisper "Give me you" softly running her tongue across his neck barely touching him.

He stood paralyzed by an anticipation he knew not of.

"Excuse me...?"

"Ah it is nothing" she said leaning back & walking away as though this exchange never happened. It was not until she vanished from sight that he came to realize that his hard was gripped by fear but of what he knew not, it felt like a snake wrapping around its prey & then just letting it go after toying with it.

The following weeks were ever so silent yet he could not shake the uneasy feeling at the back if his mind that someone or rather something was watching from within the shadows be it night or day.

There were times when it felt like someone was sleeping beside him almost every night but he never turned to look for fear that he might never be able to turn back if he did.

It felt like something was beside him always warning him not to go to a certain place, use a certain path or what the answers to the test was. He even landed a bursary this way. It's like he could hear it & not at the same time because it wasn't a voice so I decided to play it off as having developed a strong 6th sense.

This went on for a year until it was time for the town carnival again & he couldn't help but feel anxious & it grew more as he didn't know why.

The music played as people were happily going about enjoying the carnival when he caught a familiar face in the corner of his eye before she vanished.

"Who was that?" He asked himself not able to make out who the girl was.

It was the finally closing time so he started packing up when he looked up & saw her. Standing there with that frightening yet drawing gaze.

It felt like everyone else was non-existent, just the 2 of them existing there & then. She had not changed 1 but not in height nor shape.

"Who are you?" He asked when she she smirked & almost as if to glide turned left but he chased after her.

Something deep in him warned him that this would be the last time he would see her if he didn't run after her so he ran & ran just barely missing the tail of her dress when he came to the lake.

He stood out of breath looking for her frantically but his eyes were met with loneliness. Was it just a hallucination? Was she real? Was this almost god-like just a figment I his imagination? This questions ran wild as he could not let it go.

"So you have chosen me just as I have chosen you" a voice echoes. She appeared atop the lake basking in the moonlight, her features clearly defined. She was a heavenly being

"Are you real?" He asked not believing his eyes.

"You would not see me otherwise" she answered. "My beloved, I knew I chose the right human"

"What are you talking about?"

"You have chosen me that is why you came after me. Now, come beloved" opening her arms waiting as his body flee to her.

"We will be together for all eternity" her fangs sinking deep into him
