Chapter 9: Do you even need us?
After several more hours after he was treated, Raygen finally woke up. He tried to sit up, but weakness invaded his whole body as he was forced to lay down once more. 'I need to get stronger. I almost died again, and my family was put to danger because of me.'
"My lord, you're awake. That's good." The middle age woman who treated him finally noticed him.
"What's happening outside?" Raygen asked.
"They were building some kind of rock wall, and attacking a mirror. I heard it was the man who came here with you who instructed them to do it. They have been attacking that thing for hours now." The woman replied as he helped Raygen sit up.
"hmm with him there planning everything, I think we can already say that we are safe."
"I really hope so, my lord."
<Matt Meltor's Reinforcement Army>
"My lord, the scouts already brought some news. They reported that a huge shield formation was activated on the north side of the town. They think that with this we can assume that the attack is on the north side and not on the south side." A general reported.
"What do you mean they think?" Matt asked.
"Well I asked them that question too sir but the scouts told me that they could not see beyond the formation because the town army covered it with smoke."
"Smoke? Okay, tell them to keep up with the reports. Send a message to the frontline army facing the Dejin forest to retreat a little bit so that they can be close to Hopeful Light town. We are going straight to the north part of the town to assist them if it is really where the attack is happening."
"Yes my lord" the general quickly left and passed down the command.
'I'll get to the bottom of this. Someone is trying to let me fail to assist Brother Raygen. When the time comes that I discover who did this, blood will surely gush out from his neck.'
{Hopeful Light Town}
"Alright keep on attacking for one more hour, then you can go recover your mana and rest. But don't go too far." Mister Ryou instructed the casters still attacking the mirror.
"How are your preparations General Clave?" he asked the man beside him.
"We have done what you requested."
"Two or three hours, I estimate that we have that much time before the formation actually stops. How about that wine I was about talking about with you? Some girls can also entertain us when this is over."
"I never thought you were that kind of person sir" General Clave teased Mister Ryou.
"What's wrong with having wine and be served by a beautiful lady?"
"Hahaha don't worry sir. I'll do my best with that matter."
Three more hours passed by, they can already see the shield formation started to disappear.
"Get ready" a loud voice echoed. After that a loud roar was heard on the demons' side. The demons rushed to the gap as planned. Water casters started to rain down several attacks to keep them from entering it. Every attack was blocked by the sturdy bodies of the demons as they forced their way in.
"Retreat now!!!!"
The demons were startled as they saw the casters fall back. What replaced the crowd of water casters is a single man, holding a huge mirror in front of him. The mirror started to grow in size almost as wide as the gap in the wall.
"EYES OF THE ABYSS, OPEN"
"ANNIHILATE"
A bright late burst forth from the mirror and swallowed the demon army. A huge explosion was heard. It was so loud and powerful that everyone thought the world was breaking apart.
'I may have done it a bit too much. Shit, my powers are not stable yet. I better not use wide range magic and amplify magic as well in the near future, or else I will harm myself'. An awkward smile in his face.
The terrain was now totally destroyed. The demon army was defeated in an instant. There was nothing left of their bodies. They just disappeared without even retaliating.
"Everyone, everything is fine now." He turned around and saw dumbfounded faces of the crowd. He felt embarassed.
'Do you even need us? You killed them all and we didn't need to attack' based on their facial expressions, Mister Ryou can read what they are thinking.
