Chapter 2: Congratulations! You're a child now!

After finishing her meal, Elaina neatly put the plates and utensils on the tray back onto the cart. Now she needed to plan what exactly she wanted to do with her new life.

The possibilities were endless. Starting over as a child in a new world where magic is all around, that added with the fact that she was now one the heiress of a powerful and wealthy family, meant that she could do anything.

But really, there was only one thing she wanted to do.

Earn more money.

There was no such thing as having too much money. This drive of hers, even after switching bodies, still sticks to her very soul. It encompassed her entire life in the previous world, but just because she had a new one now didn't mean she would stay idle. Just thinking about the possibilities here, the art she could bring over from her original world, and how much she would be able to make sent tingles up her spine.

There really was nothing better to do than earn money. She needed to scope out the state of paintings and how well designed jewelry was. Perhaps she could even branch out and recreate modern architecture here?

Knock knock.

"Elaina? Are you awake?" a melodic voice sounded from the door.

"Mother?"

The door gently opened to show the faces of her new mother and father. Mother was scrunching up a handkerchief in worry, her beautiful face scrunched up in concern. Father was frowning as his blue eyes scanned over her body.

A random image of a nurse coming towards her saying 'Congratulations! It's two beautiful, healthy parents! You're a child now," ran through her head, making her smile unknowingly.

"It's nice to know you're happy to see us, darling," her mother said as she glided across the floor towards her, with her father following close behind. They brought two chairs over from the nearby table and placed them beside her bed. Both took a seat, looking graceful and elegant, and her mother grabbed her hand and caressed it.

"You haven't been hurt badly have you, dear?" her father asked her.

"Mother, father, I promise I am okay now. It didn't hurt a lot and the dog was very cute."

Her mother sighed and turned to look at her father, "I told you we needed to train those dogs before allowing her to play with them."

"It's good for the dogs to have energy, but I do agree they need to be older before Ela should be allowed to play with them again. Perhaps next time Ela, you'll ride on your horse instead. You do still have your riding master you haven't spent much time with."

A riding master? Interesting. She needed to take advantage of him, after all, what girl didn't want to own and ride their own horse?

"Don't listen to your father, dear, you should spend more time with me. I've missed you horribly these past few days," mother said as she pouted, looking accusatorily at her husband. "Somebody wanted to get all of the barracks inspections done so I haven't been able to see my angel."

"You agreed to it, my love, it is not wholly my fault. However, we now have more time to stay in the capital and more time to spend with Ela. After all, this is a critical period of her life."

It was almost her birthday and on the day a person turns 6 years old, their magical core would stabilize, and they would be able to tell what affinity for magic they had as well as show how what color and size core they had. A person's magical core would change color throughout their entire life, but the higher one's core was when they turned 6 was a strong predictor of how powerful they would end up later in life.

Magic was divided by color; there are 8 main colors and 8 number orders in between. The color order from lowest to highest red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and white. Red 1 was the lowest power ranking and White 1 was the highest. In all the empire's history, only one person has achieved the status of White 8, but that was a thousand years ago.

Elaina's father was an Indigo 3 while her mother was an Indigo 1. Based on how powerful her parents were, it was predicted that she would have at least a yellow core.

"I'd love to spend more time with you, mother! Also, father, would you mind teaching me how to ride a horse? I can always learn under the riding master when you and mother go out of the house again."

"My smart girl, of course I'll teach you how to ride a horse," he said, puffing out in happiness.

"We can go to the stores tomorrow and buy more clothes!" her mother exclaimed gaily, clapping her hands together in glee.

This was perfect! Shopping with her mother meant that she would be able to see what people liked in the capitol and she could start creating her designs.

"I'd love to go shopping with you, mother!" she said as an angelic smile graced her face. Both parents looked at their child dotingly, happy that she was happy.

"It's getting quite late, darling, we should leave you so that you can go to sleep. We love you very much, more than you could ever know," her mother said softly, kissing her head afterward. Her father followed suit, patted her head, and walked out the door holding hands with his wife.

So this is what it's like having parents around to love and cherish you? She would certainly cherish these moments.

Tomorrow would be an interesting day.
