Chapter 20: Goodbye
John fluttered his dinky wings as he bowed his head, hovering a few feet in front of you.
"I'm sorry!"
He stiffly rose his small chest to nervously look at you, but blubbered half-way. Tears leaked from his eyes like a hole-filled bladder.
"In the beginning, the journey was fun," John sniffled. "But, with time, I got bored and disinterested. Ah... the troubling life of a disinterested and distant person."
He wiped his face with the sleeve of his robe. Snot trails in a sticky line connecting the two, but he didn't seem to notice.
Impatience took over and you found yourself speaking before you know it.
"Is there even a chance you'll come back? You've been gone for months, you baby!"
John took a shaky breath before speaking.
"If we put work before play, I'll go away, thank you. So..."
John's voice trailed off as his intermittent glances at you stop.
"This is... goodbye."
A column of light fell onto his small self and pulled him upwards. As he disappeared, you faintly heard his last words.
"Y-you know I don't like goodbyes! I almost wanted to send myself off with a steamy fanservice about Ann, Mary, and Brittney, but then I got too busy with... 'Research.'"
You craned your neck as far back as you can. John waggled his finger at you.
"I refuse to share anything with you!"
As his final words fade, you reflected on your life.
