Chapter 5: Mana Testing Part 1
After Nimm woke up, which took many hard shakes from the other students, the class went outside and played for a while, it was now that Nimm decided to tell Sean about his weird energies. At first, Sean got excited, then he turned all dopey and asked why Nimm was lying, the conversation that followed was like this
"But I'm not!"
"Yes you are, nobody has 'energies', not even you!"
"But-"
"Sorry, I don't talk to liars!"
Nimm continued to try to convince him but Sean kept on yelling. The other kids were already surprised when Nimm made Sean laugh. But now he's making him yell? They really wanted to know what they were talking about but they were afraid what happened earlier would happen again. But Nimm seemed to be completely focused on making Sean know that he isn't a liar.
"Ok look, give me your hand," Sean stopped screaming and complied,
"I'm gonna start now so, tell me when it starts to hurt, ok?" Then Nimm felt for the newly refreshed energy and channelled it into his hand. It took a while but when it reached his hand Sean jumped back and exclaimed,
"That's really hot!" he then started to blow on his hand profusely.
"Do you believe me now?" Nimm asked with a smug smile on his face.
Sean just sighed and nodded his head before asking a swarm of questions,
"So what's it called? What can you do with it? How long have you had it? Do you thin-"
"Woah! One question at a time. Now shoot,"
"Ok, so what can you do with this power?"
"I don't know yet but I can move it around my body,"
"Okay then, what do you call it,"
"I call them my energies,"
"That's such a boring name though!"
"Okay, you think of one then"
Sean gave a deep thoughtful look and after a while said,
"Mana. Let's call it mana because it reminds me of mages in video games,"
"Nice name but... what's a video game?"
"Haha, you're joking, right?" In response to this question, Nimm just gave Sean a blank stare.
"How have you never heard of video games before?"
"I just haven't okay? But, what are they?"
"Ooh, I have an idea, I could show you if you invite me over to your house,"
"Oh okay, I'll ask Ms. Melanie,"
"Wait why are you calling your mom by her first name?"
"Because she's not my mom, and when we met she called herself Melanie so I thought it was right,"
"Wait... she's not... your mom?"
"Yea" Nimm paused before looking down and asking,
"Can we talk about this when we get to my house?"
"Yeah, sure"
There was an awkward silence between them until Nimm perked up and told Sean that it's okay.
Nimm then had a thought,
"What about your mom? Will she be okay with that?"
"My mom sort of hates me, so, I don't think she'll mind,"
They both realised that the conversation took a turn for the worst and sat there for a couple of seconds before Nimm had another idea,
"Hey, if you can feel my ener-mana, you may be able to use it!"
"Yeah, let's try!" They ultimately failed due to them both being unfamiliar with mana. The phrase, 'The blind leading the blind' really fits here. So before they could get too upset about it, they were called inside, and science was the next subject.
Nimm instantly fell in love with it.
His favourite part was chemistry, and not just, 'so if you mix these to *BOOM*' chemistry, but atoms, states of matter, all of that was so cool.
At one point Nimm's pen ran out of ink because he was writing so much about Fire Science and Electrical Science (Real things, google it).
After science they had P.E, today there was a fitness test for all grade levels [A/N: *cough cough* I'm sorry but the 'Strong Lead' tag is in there so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯]
Long story short, the coach said, "Try your best" and Nimm did.
The Damage List:
- 112 push-ups in a minute
- 146 sit-ups in a minute
- Ran the 100 meters (m) in 5.2 seconds
- Ran the 400m in 12.9 seconds
- Ran the 500m in 16.4 seconds
- Ran the mile run in 5 minutes 42 seconds
(the only reason he took so long was that he wanted to talk to Sean)
- Barely broke a sweat during any of this
[A/N: I didn't include the long jump because when I did this stuff there wasn't a long jump included until I was in middle school.]
After he was done, P.E. was over and the coach looked at Nimm with both respect and fear.
After P.E., they had a little break where the students who weren't too tired started swarming Nimm asking him about how he got so fast.
Nimm called Sean for help, but Sean just cupped his ear while saying,
"Did I hear something? Meh," But Sean did eventually pull Nimm out of the swarm of new admirers. Break time was over and Ms. Skaleele got the attention of the students and announced that it was the end of the day. So Nimm and Sean went out to the front and found Ms. Melanie's car. Mr. Tyrone was with her today
When Nimm got in he asked about Sean and Mr. Tyrone said,
"We wanted to talk to you but, yeah that's fine,"
So Nimm waved to Sean and gestured to him to come in the car.
They then drove to Ms Melanie's house and Nimm and Sean started playing computer games.
All the games they played had wizards and mages in them. While playing Nimm was having fun, but then was struck with an idea.
"Hey Sean, if mana is a type of energy and electricity and fire are types of energies, do you think that I can turn mana into a fire and do the opposite?"
"Maybe, I don't know, wanna try?"
"Yeah, let's go outside though, I don't want to destroy the house," They went outside and decided to test fire first because it's easier.
Nimm ate and drank before doing this, letting the mana pools became stronger than they have ever been. Nimm started to guide the soft mana, making it hotter and hotter as it circulated in his hand. Thinking and willing it to come out of his hand. After a while, he could feel his hand become really hot but it wasn't enough, so he started to slowly add in the star.
The mana rushed to his hand and soon, there was excess mana so sparks started going off around his hand. But Nimm didn't stop, he felt like he was close, so he pushed harder and...
