Chapter 6: A Promise
Kai Lung is the name of my first friend and the only friend I have made in this more than 12 years of my life.
He is a little funny, stupid, and weird to some extent if I have to say from his way if something.
He is not as strong as the clan kids in our city however he is stronger than any other commoner kids I have met so far.
Today I was crying at the riverbank because of my frustration and weakness I felt while remembering my mother when someone's exclamation broke my moment of peaceful crying time "Are you lost?"
And turning my head I found a body with fair skin and short black hair and the classic village boy clothing asking me like an idiot as I asked him with confusion "Who?"
"I heard you crying while walking through the forest and thought you are afraid of being lost. " he answered with an idiotic smile as he looks at me and he heard me crying it's truly shameful that someone has caught me crying, oh~ I so hate this feeling.
"I am not lost. " with an angry tone I notified him as I wanted him to leave me alone when he said with a daze looking at my face "Beautiful."
Of course, I am beautiful but is this countryside pervert checking me out and thinking about this I feel so angry that I want to take his eyes out of its place however I soon calmed myself reminding myself that I am a virtuous young lady and need to act as such.
So I tried my best to ask in a calm tone but his face forced me to get angry as I ask him in anger "Did you say something? "
Hearing my angry tone he quickly moved his eyes off my face before saying in a tone almost like a whisper "Nothing." why is speaking I'm a low tone like that is he the woman here or I am and while I was getting more impatient he asked with confusion as he again looks at my face "If you are not lost can you tell me why we're you crying a while ago?"
"I wasn't crying." I quickly replied to him with a serious face, God how long was he peeking at me to be so sure that I was crying but looking at my serious face that has a little anger mixed in it, it should make him back off before losing the confidence in himself.
"Yes you were and I heard you loud and clear that is why I came here in the first place." when I was going to show a proud smile in my win and Kai's defeat after losing his confidence to my surprise the opposite of my expectation took place as his face became serious as he pressed me with more confidence damn pervert how dare you to peek at me.
Damn it he saw everything it's not possible to keep the secret to him "Fine I was crying but it's not because I am lost and scared but I am sad. "
"Why are you sad?" why the hell does he need to know anything "Why should I tell you about it?"
"Come on, don't be like that, tell me why are you sad. Maybe I can help. My mother told me if you share your sadness it will be lite and you will feel less sad." getting impatient from his endless questioning I started getting angry and even had the idea of beating the crap out of him but in the sincere face with the care, he showed for me that even my father hardly shows made me flinch as I looked at him before he told me about his mother.
And his smile I think I trust him and his mother's word might be true sharing the pain might help me make it less because after this I won't be the only one who is going to be burdended with this sadness after mother left us but I still doubt he who came from the none cultivation farmer village can help me in anything but I need to confirm it's his mother's words, not something he came up with while we are converting "Really? Did your mother say that?"
"Yes and if you don't believe me you can also ask my mother when we return to the city." he replied with a confident face that I hardly saw in anyone before when they are telling the truth and knew he is honest so I decided to explain to him.
"Fine~" after taking a deep breath I let out a sigh before telling him with a depressed tone "I am sad because my mother has gone very far away leaving everyone in our family behind."
"Don't be sad because even if your mother is no more with you I am sure she cares for you and your family from wherever she is right now." hearing his words I remembered mother's reluctant face as she left us that day and knew she indeed love me, Yuanba and father but she needs to go if she wants to save us and I will also become strong, strong enough to let her free from her misfortune then I will reunite my family once more.
"You are right she does indeed love us." for the first time I felt clear in many years and a smile formed on my face as I look at the ordinary yet handsome face of Kai so did he smile at me.
"Now that you are feeling good and seeing that you aren't lost can you show me the way to return to the city?" Kai asked me with a smile as he looks at my face with an embarrassed face as I almost fall on the ground hearing his words damn he is the one who is lost and here he came to help me.
What was he thinking about when he needs someone to help him?
"Damn it fool if you are lost then why did you pretend to care about me for so long." I finally lost my cool before smacking him on the head.
"Hey just because you are beautiful that doesn't mean you can be so violent to me you know?" he announced as a vine popped on my forehead as I gave him a serious look this idiot is asking for it and I started beating him and finally he apologized for his wrong before asking his name "So what is your name?"
"My name is Kai Lung and I am from the Mu village." he said with a smile as he quickly stood up from the grass field before asking "What is your name beautiful girl crying in the forest? "
"Are you asking for another beating?" I asked with a serious face as he quickly shrinks his head acting afraid and I know he wasn't hurt because I didn't put any effort to hurt him and looking at his antics I shook my head with a sigh before asking "Why did you come in the Flying Cloud City Kai Lung?"
"My family needed to deliver the Harvest of this season to the Xia clan so I came to the city to deliver the Harvest." so he is part of the farmers working under our family and if I tell him my identity he might be afraid to look at me in the eye and start calling me as Young Miss and I don't want that as I was pondering over my decision he asked me with a smile "Now that you know so much about me can you tell me your name?"
"Qing Yue." yes that is the name I came up with at the last moment when I introduced myself and to my surprise, he likes that name of mine as we say on the grass of the riverbank and some fruits he brought with him.
"Why are you giving me only half of the Orange, what about the whole orange?" I told him with anger as I tried to snatch the orange from his hand to which quickly took it back before saying like a stingy person he is "I can not give the whole orange to you because it's a gift from the shopkeeper uncle for me and either you can have half or nothing."
I the richest girl in the city going to share half the orange no way but, but the orange looks so good and I surely want to try it so with no other way out I agreed to him "Fine I will accept half the orange but before that I want you to know I am sharing only with you because it's a gift for you.
Don't think anything weird alright."
"Yes, yes. " he said before handing the large share. No wait mine is smaller than his "Hey why did you take the larger share?"
"It's my orange, why should I not eat the larger part?" he is so hateful.
Not long after finishing the fruits, we left the forest however before departure I didn't forget to smack him on the head while scolding as I proved him to be wrong "See it wasn't I who was lost but you were the one who lost your way and thought the other is lost like you.
So in the future try not to help someone when you need help yourself."
When I walked a few meters away from him when he said to me from my back "See you around Yue. "
"Next time I am going to eat your mother's cooking, don't forget about it and tell her about me when you return." I reminded him with a smile as I didn't halt in my steps as he shouted back "Sure."

The morning
"Goodbye Kai Lung, make sure you don't forget me or your promise when we met next time." I said with a smile I saw Kai and his family leaving our Manor from the window of my room.
