Chapter 7: Battle On
"FIRST ROUND: REGRIS REAH VS. JOSEPH TAMPUS!"
The crowds once again filled the air with energy as they cheered on the upcoming bloodshed. Joseph was still calm as ever entering the designated ring. After a short while, the contestant Regris Reah entered as well.
"START!"
As soon as the word start was said, both participants used their skills.
"Wisp Movement"
"Stone Body"
Joseph used a movement skill while his enemy used a defensive skill. The opponent's Stone Body Technique was weaker than Rock Hardening but the opponent's mastery over the skill was better than Joseph's. Joseph rushed to his opponent using his skill while holding his sword.
"Strike"
A faint line appeared where Joseph struck his opponent. "Is this all? HAHAHA! You might as well kill yourself right now! You won't be able to kill me! Hahahaha!" Joseph's opponent laughed manically. "Hmph! Your body is just a little bit stronger than I thought but it matters not the next strike will end you." Joseph was full of confidence. His strike earlier only had a power of 200 with a normal strike.
"Full Strike"
Now using 400 of his body strength, he cut down Regris Reah mercilessly in half. The opponent spat out blood as half of his body from his chest to his head was looking at Joseph with killing intent as his eyes lost light. Nobody expected the old man to win but the cheers still raged on the old man's victory.
Arthur inspected every detail of the fight trying to compare his Full Strike with the old man's technique. Even though his Full Strike was stronger it was rougher compared to the old man's Full Strike.
Studying all of the old man's movements made him understand the difference between both their techniques. The old man's Full Strike has been perfected not in terms of mastery but in terms of application.
Knowing this, Arthur couldn't replicate the old man's Full Strike the exactly the same way.
After a while, the crowd still has not yet let up on the cheering as the second round started. After the second round was the third round and so on until it was Arthur's turn.
"SEVENTH ROUND: ARTHUR REEVE VS. FIONA IRAMA"
Arthur entered the stage with slight nervousness, even though he has resolved to kill people it was easier said than done.
His opponent was a woman with a weak figure with a terrified look on her face as she stepped on the arena. Ignoring the situation, one could say that her beauty couldn't be rivaled by just anyone as her soft white skin radiated an aura of elegance. With every step she took, it seemed as if she would fall down on the ground.
Arthur wasn't an idiot, at least at this moment. How could a such a weak woman survive the slaughter last time? It was ridiculous to even think about surviving that without any skill or power. When Arthur first opened his eyes in this world, he was targeted by a swordsman, had a bleeding arm, was shot in the face by Mia and even then all of this could be considered a miracle within miracles.
Seeing that the woman in front of him was uninjured, this was obviously a trap for him as the woman thought that this youth could be easily swayed and simple. Little did she know that this young man was not like the rest, he was composed, solemn and above all ready to kill for the first time.
"START!"
Arthur took the initiative a punched the woman with 100 body strength. The woman spat out blood as she laid down on the floor.
The woman broke down in tears, "Please! Don't kill me! I-I don't want to die! Please!" She begged Arthur to not kill her, trying to fool him.
The crowd's cheers turned into curses and looks of disdain. Arthur, however, was unaffected with the reaction of the crowd.
"W-Why are you doing this to me?! What have I ever done to you?" The woman then formed a smile as she used her technique.
"Charm"
Arthur's expression began to change as his heart started to beat faster and faster as he looked at the woman. He started to have thoughts of protecting her and loving her until the moment he dies. Everything was going as the woman expected, she took out a knife and tried to stab Arthur.
"Wisp Movement"
The woman's attack passed through Arthur and she went through Arthur's afterimage. The crowd realized what just happened and began to curse the woman instead and cheered for Arthur.
"W-Wait! A young man has some needs, right? So if you want I could--" A ghostly figure appeared behind the woman and cleanly chopping her head off. Arthur was able to react was because of his Will of Evolution created resistance against the mental attack of the woman.
Loud cheering could be heard from the crowd as they applauded what Arthur had done. This was a scene that made the spectators cheer for Arthur more because what he had done was incredibly spectacular to them.
Cheers and praises could be heard across the Colosseum of Guilt but within these voices a voice murmured, "Wisp Movement? How did that brat learn a technique? He even showed mastery in the technique!"
Mia's expression turned solemn, knowing that she will have to face someone that could ignore her will and possess a movement technique showed how dangerous this person is.
The cheers later died later on as the following matches were extremely plain compared the fights of Arthur and Joseph.
"ELEVENTH ROUND: IAN GROUSE VS. JOSEPH TAMPUS"
The participants went into their places respectively.
"START"
Joseph's enemy right now also uses body strengthening techniques.
"Iron Body"
"Full Strike"
Joseph didn't want to drag it out at all trying to preserve as much of his strength if he will ever face Sir Marcus the Great Sage Ranker. It only took a couple of hits before Joseph managed to kill his opponent.
Everything so far was going as smooth as possible for Arthur and Joseph. Mia, on the other hand, was trying to compose herself from the shock of Arthur's growth as the matches continued.
How did he grow so fast? Did that old man have to do something with it? What if that brat is hiding a trump card against me? These thoughts circulated in Mia's mind.
