Chapter 13: You Shouted, I Moved

I returned to the Baby Tree of Life region and saw a white shadow rushing towards me.

"Master, how was your trip?"

"It wasn't really a trip, Feefee?" I chuckled and caressed her head.

"Really?! Feefee thought it was a trip... Ok then! Master let's go on a trip now!" Feefee shouted while flying from one of my shoulders to another.

"Not now, Feefee. My training will be starting soon. We should be going."

"Feefee can go with Master?! It is wonderful!"

I said goodbye to Elder and wisps, I felt sorry for them. Elder cannot abandon the area where he is stationed while wisps must be around him to protect. I haven't spent enough time with them recently.

My adorable little bird and I left the forest; it was almost noon, Master William is never late, so it is better to be there on time.

After 10 minutes Feefee and I arrived on the training ground, all boys were standing together and talked with each other; Fiona was sitting at the side with a displeased look. Eh... She wants to make friends but because of her character... It is so hard to be a girl, never can one understand a maiden's heart.

"Alexander! What is that on your shoulder?" John and Fred asked me with curious eyes.

Everybody else also looked at Feefee, Fiona had gleaming eyes full of admiration. My creations are obviously extremely exquisite and cute!

"I discovered it in the forest, I called her Feefee!"

"She is so beautiful, I must get a similar one, where did you find it?" exclaimed Anthony and shook my arm.

I noticed Fiona also listened attentively, girls like to have gorgeous pets, then I remembered the Death and her cute little snake inside my heart.

"Em... I am not sure if there are similar ones," I awkwardly smiled.

"I must confirm it with my own eyes!"

"I don't think there will be another similar one," suddenly sounded a gentle male voice from behind us.

"Master William!"

We all bowed and greeted our teacher, even if I take into consideration years I lived in my previous life it won't be significant in front of a giant like Vice-Protector, not even speaking about Protectors.

"It is called Caladrius. A very rare breed of birds, with great healing abilities and it should not live in our area," calmly said senior William and looked at me with a look which was saying, "I know it is because of you."

I helplessly smiled and avoided looking into his eyes, of course; it was inappropriate to do that with my Master but... How should I explain my (Life Creation) skill? I should be careful and don't reveal all of my cards, even to my parents.

"Let us move on... I have an important announcement for you all, in 4 months an examinator from the Magic Academy will arrive. As you know the Protectors' Union has established magic academies in all empires and some of the kingdoms with the goal of developing humanity's strength. You are our future, and we all rely on you to support future generations and guard our world against any dangers."

This inspiring speech gave a morale boost to everybody, maybe except me, because I am already doing my best in order to save the world from the Invasion.

"That is why every five years an inspection is taking place, children with magic potential are taken for education. You shouldn't misunderstand the purpose of magic academies, there are not only magicians but also countless other different professions. However, what they are looking for is an affinity, because all of our skills depend on mana and the more affinities one have the faster one can absorb mana and raise his mana pool."

When Master William explained to us the concept of mana and elements he looked at me and smiled. My whole body shivered and trembled because it knew, there are going to be some hell of a training.

"Therefore be prepared, I will tell you a secret there is a possibility of getting an affinity through training if you discern and research the elements' secrets thoroughly an affinity can be acquired."

Everybody got overjoyed, of course, they were capable of checking their own affinities and some of them were not satisfied or even depressed because of it. However, after senior Williams explanations, they were given hope; hard training can make them equally strong.

"We should conclude the discussion here, now let me introduce to you another training."

After that, he brought 8 wooden swords and dropped them in front of us with a devil's smile.

"I know it may still be too early for that, but the magic academy inspection is approaching faster than expected..." he laughed and walked to the center of the training ground.

"Bear the swords and try assaulting me, utilize any means possible, if you are able to hit me then you can go have some lunch."

We all looked at each other with worry in our eyes... Master William's intentions are clear as day; he doesn't want us to have any lunch at all!

Fiona was the first one to snatch a sword, she charged at the teacher with a battle cry. When there was just a meter between them William moved his left arm and with the tip of his index finger, he stopped the sword. The girl looked at him with shock and just one phrase came out of her, "How?"

"You shouted, I moved, what so strange about that? Don't underestimate me; I can still hear you," he casually said and pushed her back.

Fiona wasn't able to keep her balance and fell on her buttocks. Her mouth twitched, however, I could see the determination in her eyes. As the saying goes, "Practice makes perfect." There is no way you can learn how to walk without falling, although I was an exception this time...

"What are you standing there for? Are you waiting for a special invitation?"

"No, teacher!"

We picked up the wooden swords and all rushed at him together, however, we didn't shout as Fiona did. It is the dumbest thing a warrior can ever do...

"Well, it wasn't that bad..." said William.

Everybody smiled, our hard work wasn't for nothing.

"It was terrible..."

Our smiles froze and we didn't move.

"Tomorrow... If I see the same things, I will use more than just knocking you on the ground, understood?"

"Definitely, teacher!"

"Perfect, now go and have dinner with the family; you have already skipped the lunch."

The training has ended, however, when I headed home I saw William waiting for me, just a few meters from my house. If it was anybody else in my shoes, they would be scared but I knew, William is much more frightening than that.

"Master William..."

"Don't worry, it is not because of the bird. I here to inform you about your personal training. The day after tomorrow you will meet me and go to the GreenHigh forest."

"Understood!"

Master William disappeared...

"Well done," voice drifted from above.
