Chapter 10: You Can Count On Me
Mrs. Ding waiting anxiously at Ding's Residence after her second son told her about the miscarriage. She already prepared everything to welcomed her second daughter in law for the first time to the house.
"Mom, we're here." Ding Li walked into the house while carried Fang Lana who were sleeping in his arms. "Oh.. Quick, quick bring her up. I've already prepared the room." Mrs. Ding were running frantically to the room. Ding Li shaked his head slightly seeing his mother antics.
Ding Li was taken aback when Mrs. Ding open the door to his room. Red curtain, red bedsheet, everything is in red colour. "Mom?..."
"Yes, actually I've been prepared this for so long ever since your first day registered your marriage but you didnt come home. So now here you are." Mrs. Ding eyes shined brightly.
"Its like we were sitting in the pool of blood. Darn it. My eyes." Ding Li complained.
Fang Lana stirred in her sleep. She open her eyes slowly and looked up to see Ding Li's distressed face. "What's wrong?" Her voice sounded weak. Ding Li looked down at her and smiled. "Nothing baby, just go back to sleep." Fang Lana then burried her face to his chest and closed her eyes back.
"We'll just sleep in the guest room. Make sure everything returns to normal tomorrow please mom." Ding Li sighed. Mrs. Ding pouted but agree to it.
Ding Li felt complicated seeing his mother's excitement. He afraid that she will make Lana freaked out with her unpredictable behaviour. Ding Li settled Lana on the bed then he left to take shower. When he returned he saw his mother were feeding his wife some soup. Therefore he heaved a relieved breath. Ding walked Li towards the ladies and settled himself on the bed next to Lana. Mrs. Ding raised her eyebrows questioning Ding Li's action. "What?" receiving the questionable looks from his mother Ding Li asked.
"What do you think you are doing?" Mrs . Ding spoke. "Going to sleep." Ding Li answered truthfully. "Who says you can sleep here tonight and the next next day also?" Mrs .Ding retorted back. "Then where should I sleep and why cant I sleep here?" Ding Li getting frustrated. "She just had miscarriage and she needs rest. Who knows what a horny bastard like you would do to my precious daughter in-law if I let you sleeps here tonight. So get out now." Mrs. Ding suddenly lost her tempered. Reminded of her unborn grandchild because of her own son uncontrolablly desires, she felt her blood is boiling. "Did you just called your son a bastard?" Ding Li asked wide eyes but being glared furiously by his mother. Suddenly he felt chilly then quickly get off the bed. His mother sure is childish but can be very scary when she is mad. Ding Li wanted to throw tantrums but reminding it was his mistake that Lana got miscarriage he sighed guiltly.
"Take a good care of her then." Ding Li walked towards his wife and planted a kiss on her forehead. "No worries, you can count on me." Mrs. Ding then shoved Ding Li out of the room quickly shut the door in front of his face. Fang Lana could only smiled helplessly looking at her mother in-law. But then she fall into a deep thought.
