Chapter 2: NEW WORLD

In the outside world, the air smell different and kind of hard to breath, you can see from people's faces, they are stress and tired but that didn't worry me one bit, i have dreamed and long for this all my life. The move was rushed because of all the pressure i gave my parents, they wanted to keep me home but i have been with them for sixteen years of my life and I don't want to be sheltered by them anymore.....

Steeping out of the Van and seeing my new apartment was the best feeling in my heart, finally it is happening, Mum was crying since I decided to move to the city (Accra) but that is my decision, and I was eager to see it through.

Mum : baby, are you sure you can do this, let go home, I promise you can have everything you want; we won't pressure you and we will look for a nice Man for you ok, this place is so far from home, and I am feeling scared already, Akwasi please talk to her, I can't do this please it too soon....

Me : Mum don't do this please, you promise, and it is tradition for me to know the outside world on my own....

Mum : Traditions be damned, you know how I suffered to get you and the world is dangerous, you can enroll in the university back home, why do you want to be far away from us, what crime have we committed to punish us like this, ( turning around and eyeing my Dad) why are you standing there and not saying anything like I am the only one who will miss her, say something.....

Dad : it has already been decided, stop making her feel bad already dear...

Mum : (mouth opened in shocked) ooooh really ok then ...

After my parents made sure I have settled in and was good, they left with my mother turning with every step she took, tears glistening in her eyes, mouth quivering but I have made my decision and I won't back down now, did some decorations and gave up mid-way when I realized how my back was aching me, being on your own is not an easy thing, got up and took my bath and in I went to bed, i have to wake up bright and early tomorrow to check out this town and maybe look around a bit.

6 O'clock am, my alarm blasted my room, got up frightened out of my mind, took a minute maybe two for my mind to full feel awake, got up went to the bath and made sure I was looking very beautiful, in case I see him, I know I don't have any special figure in mind, but I know he will be perfect for me and me alone. Made breakfast and hurried my backpack, throwing in my purse, my make up kit and a little something to nibble on and off I go, descending my stairs and into the city I step, it was a little shinny for my liking but beggars can't be choosers, so i made my way around the building first and started to go into the city deeper, it was fill with people new students too I guess because lectures will start on Monday and everyone is around to prepare for it, the environment was nice and beautiful , tall buildings decorated the yard as far as the eye can see with serene colors, painting of legends and heroes of the country painted and honored around the Yard from Kwame Nkrumah to John Jerry Rawlings formal Presidents of Ghana, it was magical to me to see the details and the attentions to their features, like they were alive Infront of us, I was amazed by the works put into the art and then he flashed so fast I nearly missed him, his stature , his walks his everything made my heart stopped beating and then.......
