Chapter 1: A Life Must End, to Create a New One

A young woman, no older than twenty, raced through the forest, her ruby hair whipping around her as she continued on with her mad dash through the forest.

Bloodied tears paint her cheeks as she presses on, her dress had been ripped from the back. Exposing her soft and supple jade flesh, however, huge claw marks marred his beautiful skin.

Blood runs profusely down her back staining her tattered clothes; she didn't know how much longer she could carry on through the forest. Her vision saw with every step as she races through the deathly quiet forest.

The whistling sound of a blade drew her attention. Without missing a heartbeat, she rose the blade in her hand and blocks the sword that sought to end her life. But it was just a hair to slow, her teeth gash together as the power of the blade strike sent her reeling backward slightly.

Blood drips from between her clenched teeth, her lips are almost white from the pressure.

"Damn!" She couldn't help letting the curse slip from her lips. More blade began to descend upon her, not wasting a moment she makes the choice to block the blades.

She dances like a graceful butterfly, dancing its last dance. The wild mane of her red hair catching the moonlight and making her dance with death even more riveting.

However, the dance was in vain. She's only blocked a few blades before more and more came overwhelming her. She couldn't help but curse the earlier injuries that she's sustained.

Betrayed by the one that she trusted with her very life, she'd been a fool to have such blind trust.

A great deal of anger and resentment boiled up in her belly like a volcano. But it wasn't directed at the betrayer, rather herself…

How could she have been so naïve to believe in another?

Blinded by the love that was her downfall.

She could remember everything, the very first time they met. Every fine detail in perfect clarity in her mind. He'd made her feel something that no other had made her feel before. The unique feeling had been like a drug, gripping her mind and body.

Those feelings had lulled her into a false state of security, never had she experienced the warmth of a man or the wrath of one, maybe it was that, which had drawn her to him in the very beginning.

Twisting into a graceful arc through the air, she couldn't help but reflect as she felt her life slowly draining away from her.

Growing weary from the blood loss, the firm blade that was blocking most of the blows began to lose it fierceness. It was in that moment that the overwhelming number of blades broke her defense, cutting deep into her stomach.

Blood bubbles up from her lips as she plummets towards the ground. Like a fallen butterfly her wings had been crippled.

Twisting she tries her best to break her fall, she manages to create a soft pocket of air as she falls, landing on the ground, she feels her bones shatter. Her body was in such agony she felt her vision go black for a second.

Blood pours from her stomach, and she tries her best to press a hand hastily into the wound to try and lessen the bleeding.

The menacing laugh of a woman draws her attention away from the pain of her body. Looking upwards she found her two tormentors, a handsome man with dark eyes that reminded one of a pitfall and raven black hair to match those enchanting soundless eyes of his.

The normal calm and collected look he sported were twisted into an unsightly smile, that reminded one of the cruelest of villains.

"Aren't you pitiful Salina," the woman that the man was holding glowered at the woman with fiery hair.

The woman was the exact opposite of the fiery-haired woman, she had eyes the color of the oceans and hair that looks like it'd been spun from gold. But the look on her face was anything but angelic like her features, it was twisted into a nasty sneer.

Descending from the sky on the back of a beast, that had four wings and two huge talons. A couple of knives dangle from the hand of the woman atop the beast, and she hurls them towards the Salina, they brutally cut into her face.

Inflicting a level of shame, rather than pain.

Anger was the only emotion that the fiery hair woman felt. It didn't matter what they did to her body, because she'd never given them the satisfaction of begging for her life or showing fear. All that she wanted to be a chance to rip those deceitful masks off of their faces and give them a fate far worse than death.

They'd already crippled her spirit veins; they'd been severed in a sneak attack by her two aggressors.

"Why?" She asks calmly, her voice was no louder than a whisper, but she knew that they could hear her just fine. Lifting her head, she fixes her bewitching light liquor colored eyes onto the man in front of her.

His arm was wrapped around the other woman's waist, holding her gently against him.

"You were always meant to be Lyra's sacrifice, your body will be fed to the great god so that he'll bestow power upon her," he couldn't help but raise his nose up in disgust towards the woman that he'd once showered with affection.

Her eyes that once looked upon that man with softness and unending love, now looked at this man as if he was the vilest thing to walk the earth, and he indeed was. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, at that moment she found peace.

Even if her life was ending, she wouldn't allow it to be used to give these hateful people a chance to rise to power.

She'd end this on her own terms.

Opening her eyes, she turned and looked at the woman that had a smile of victory on her face, her cool eyes were silted into half-moon she was so pleased. Looking back at the man that she'd loved, she let go of the sword in her hand.

"My body has always been mine, and mine alone! You can't have it!" Her voice was like that of a howling banshee, she gathers what little energy and spiritual force that she could muster and began to cast her spell.

"Really? Salina a last-ditch effort at what? We've already crippled to you!" Lyra sorts as she raises a hand to her face.

However, the man soon recognized the magic that Salina was casting.

Yet it was too late, in that last second a violent wind had picked up the whole of the forest.

With a deafening boom, her body broke apart and all the energy in her body kicked out, lashing out like a wild dragon. It rushed forward and tried to consume the man and that woman, as they were fleeing the scene at high speed.

But the flood dragon of energy soon enveloped them.

A calm and peaceful smile had been on the face of the woman till the moment her body had shattered into nothingness. Her last thoughts were, 'What a shame I wanted to kill them, I swear in my next life I'll hunt down their descendants and kill them," with those last thoughts she faded from the world.

However, other forces were at work.

The eyes of a girl fluttered open, and a ceiling to greet her eyes. The only thought going through the young girl mind was that she hadn't died!
