Chapter 11: The Passage Of Time
It has been nearly fifty years since the creation of Jason and the village has now become a city with a grand population of four thousand people. Kyle had in the span of fifty years created many nomadic tribes around the world but a concentration of them formed near Jason's village due to the river Jade and the Ethereal mountain it was very attracting all. Kyle had instructed Jason to take in all the people that came to him as his citizens. So far Jason had done very nicely for the population.
Jason had provided for them with all the materials of the mountain and agriculture of the river. The population growth had put forward the question of hierarchy in this micrcosm of society. Thus Jason was crowned Patriarch of the city with Ava as queen. The other two couples created after Ava took over becoming chief administrator and general guard of the village.
William took over administration while Melinda took over agriculture. Alex on the other hand took over mining and architecture with Mary overlooking the army.
The city was officially named Etherius after the mountain that surrounded it. The first ten years of the city were that of expansion and rapid building. Jason modeled the city after his father's vision and kept on expanding it in exactly that manner. Since the population had now reached four thousand the city now had hundred sectors twenty of which made up a block. Jason had converted the village hall into a city palace fortified and housing all administration.
The city walls were fifteen feet high surrounding the entire city from three sided while the fourth was protected by the mountain. Out of the four thousand there were at least thousand farmers,five hundred miners,eight hundred city officials,eight hundred architects and merchants, traders combined.
The army consisted of nine hundred soldiers who were divided into three core groups namely hunters,guards and city defenders. The hunters were a minor hundred people skilled at hunting who brought food for the city by hunting and gathering. The guards consisted of three hundred people who marched the city and three guards were always stationed in a sector for its protection.
The five hundred defenders were divided into the personal bodyguard of the Etherium,this is what the royal family and the nobles came to be known as. The nobles were the children of Kyle with Jason and Ava being the royals. The defenders had bodyguards accounting for nearly hundred fifty protecting the Etherium.
The left over three hundred fifty were the wall guards taking care of the city walls from beast attacks.
After the first ten years Jason finally settled himself down to improve what he had earned from ten years of rapid expansion and building. For the next ten years he continually worked towards promoting all forms of crafts. He started the Iron Haven which was the place for construction of weapons and tools for the army,household and mining.
Jason also started the first textile corporation known as Linteum. Till now except the Etherium everyone wore fur clothes but Jason organised the farmers into food cultivators and utility cultivators who cultivated edible and utility based goods such as cotton.
Jason further instituted the form.of.learning he remembered his father taught him where all the young ones were sent to school for learning either administration,craftsmanship or military arts. This was a perfect way to divide society on chosen profession rather than class bias. Slavery or other such evils were not something Jason would have to worry about for the moment.
After ten years of Jason's peaceful rule of no expansion came the invasion of the new race of beings created by Kyle known as the Novus who were most similar to Jason's race the Aryans but had the most core difference of all. The Aryans were a race of beings who had the ability to manipulate the elements while the Novus were incapable of this feat they had something much more bizarre. The Novus had the ability to control the secondary elements of wood and metal. They also had the inherent ability of illusions which was their most defining characteristic.
This was the fundamental difference between the two races apart from their eyes. While Aryans had different eye colours the Novus only had purple eyes the source of their illusionist arts. They were for some reason always opposed to the Aryans. Unknown to them Kyle had created them this way to maintain racial differences for God had instructed Kyle to not gift an easy life to Jason.
In the span of the next twenty years the Aryans would continue to fight the Novus to maintain their existence while the Novus would fight the Aryans for land and slaves. The Novus had adopted a way to imprison Aryans and make them slaves while Aryans had made the Novus their miners or neo-slaves.
In time they would reach an agreement which would create a lasting peace but even this would be disrupted by the arrival of a new species all together which would be the bane of Aryan and Novic existence.
