Chapter 17: Aftermath

Kyle stood in silence as he watched for what felt like an eternity, the soul of his son depart from his body. Even though he knew that his child could be easily revived, there was a sadness in the realization that Jason would now forever be bound to his duties to the world rather than his family. The fact that he is no longer tethered to his mortality brought on a sense of desolation for Kyle. He began to reminisce about the home he had left. A sense of nostalgia took over.

Kyle collected himself as Jason finally let go of his will, and his soul began to detach itself from the body. The onset of this made Kyle feel a sudden surge of a hymn in his body as an Aria began to be sounded within and around the world. This hymn was so potent that it brought even the people of Etheria into its harmonious arms.

"Come, my boy, it's time."

Kyle instantly teleported himself back to his void, where he began to make preparations for reconstructing Jason. In the void, Kyle motioned his hand in a circular manner bringing into existence a tiny ball of light. This was the essence of Jason, his life experience, his joy, his sadness, his anger, his remorse, and his memories all compressed down to one tiny speck of light.

Kyle then began constructing a body for Jason; he had learned of this method from God and was now deeply aware of its intricacies. This was the reason for his absence from the world for so many years. The process of learning to create his own agents had been one of great trial and error. After immense toil, he concluded the process right on time for Jason to leave his mortal foil.

The process began as nerves slowly began to take shape in the void, which was then followed by the creation of organs, a skeletal structure, muscles, and skin to complete the body. The new body had short auburn hair cut in a fashion that made it longer on top and shorter at the edges of his head. Jason's eyes were green, just like Kyle's, a representation of Kyle's own desire to treat Jason as his true son. The rest of Jason resembled his past self except for his darker skin tone.

Kyle then motioned for the ball of light to disperse and immerse itself into the newly created body. The previously lifeless body was then covered in tiny scattered light balls, showing signs of life. Jason's body finally jerked when the integration was finished, and then he opened his eyes in a very calm and poised manner. He looked around in the void, finally spotting his father.

"Father?"

"You always were one to dive headfirst into battle, though that hasn't seemed to disappoint you yet, Jason." Kyle chuckled as he moved toward Jason to embrace him.

"Now, this new body of yours is far better than a mortal foil, you are a true god now, and you must live like one as well. Before I begin, I must ask. Do you, Jason wish to be by my side for eternity and serve me and my realm?"

"Father I... I have dreamed of being by your side since the moment you created me and gave me purpose. I would have wanted for nothing more had this been offered to me a century ago. Now, I have lived a life, grown as a person, and have raised people and children of my own. Before I wouldn't have hesitated even for a moment to accept this. Now, I believe I can do better for the people by spending my life among them, guiding them." Jason gazed into Kyle's eyes, but he wasn't able to maintain the gaze for long due to the sheer amount of energy that Kyle's eyes exuded.

"You are right, but you are mistaken if you think I only want you to be by my side. I shall have great responsibilities for you, Jason, ones that will burden you till this universe comes to its natural end. So tell me do you accept ?"

"I do, Father."

"Then you are reborn as Jason Lightbringer, The God of Light and Hope!!!" at Kyle's words, the void trembled, and Jason was filled with cosmic energy that Kyle released just from the naming of a new God. Kyle allowed for Jason to ingest this power so he may have some authority as a newly born God. He had already set the parameters to limit the influence others would have over his creation. Jason was the first person to be let into this hierarchy, and he would only be the first of many.

After Jason was finished absorbing the cosmic energy, he began to assimilate it, which was a process of constant meditation. Kyle left Jason alone as he went to check the effects of the recent events on society in his world.
