Chapter 11: X | Primary School Ghost Hauntings (4)

But it's a different matter when the ghost attempted to kidnap her little brother, Auren, who was in kindergarten in the same school, just before the summer break started. And the stubborn pipsqueak kept it to himself all this time. If not only she caught him having nightmares when they were at the beach resort, would she gain awareness of the incident.

Lauriel's brow furrowed as she remembered the image of her little brother, shivering under the thick covers, face pale in fright as if he witnessed a murder.

"Tch." she clicked her tongue when she noticed the spirit still struggling against the binding pentagram she created, irritation bubbling inside her chest threatening to spill out and consume her.

"What's your name." Lauriel demanded, subduing the fire inside her heart while intensifying the effects of the pentagram. The spirit stopped struggling all of a sudden and looked at her, the eyeless gaze seemed to convey waves of pain and suffering it harbored all these years she existed as a spirit.

Lauriel was stunned.

Shadows and wandering spirits, like this one, are different from each other. A Shadow is an original. existence here in Chronos. They are living and coexisting with humans, and they could be compared as higher than the latter, while wandering spirits are auras of creatures—animal, Shadow, or human—that are congealed due to a reason or another. For example, this vengeful spirit.

According to what Lauriel knew, the girl was raped and killed brutally by a teacher in this school seven years ago before she entered this school. Her body was left in this storage room and was left for almost three weeks before getting discovered by a utility officer, rotten and emitting the stench of death.

The administration investigated this matter and discovered that the culprit is a math teacher, that goes by the name Arthur Larson, that has a disgusting fetish towards young children, regardless of gender. The President of Clear Jade Primary School immediately blacklisted Larson and threw him in prison.

He was supposed to be a criminal in line towards the death row because they also discovered that the girl is not his only victim, but due to his connections, the judge only passed him life imprisonment, greatly aggrieving the victims' families.

Three years ago, a jail break happened in the Federal Prison of Doilea where Larson is imprisoned, and because of the riot the jail break caused, Larson was killed by getting head shot by an officer.

All of this was, of course, researched by Lauriel as she has the ability of freeing wandering spirits from their shackles that tied them down in damnation as she possess an angel's blood, and that those information is necessary for her to easily help the spirit to be freed.

But the thing is, Lauriel did not know this girl's name due to the fact that the victims of Larson was never exposed to the public, and Lauriel has no ability at the moment to break in the school's highly-secured archive. Add that she did this discreetly now that her parents are away because of another 'job'.

Ah.

'What to do.' she thought as she watched the spirit struggle again.

"Look. I can't possibly waste anymore time to you. Do you want to be freed or to be wiped out of existence?"

"Quick! Choose."

Crossing her tiny frail arms over her chest, Lauriel felt her energy sustaining the pentagram is slowly draining, cursing the fact that she had not practiced freeing souls and wandering spirits for a long time.

The girl stopped struggling and slumped down on the ground, turning her appearance to the one Lauriel saw before she fainted earlier.

[My name is China (Chee-na) Ang...]

An ominous and chilly voice echoed around the storage room, but it did not scare Lauriel nor did it bring any discomfort to her. Instead, she felt relieved that the girl is now willing to cooperate with her.

"State your demands." Lauriel said in an indifferent voice, not betraying any of the emotions swirling in her chest as of the moment.

Her time is running out.

[I-I...I wanna see my family...That's all]

Sighing, Lauriel dispersed her binding pentagram as she walked over China slumped on the ground, looking at her wretched figure stoically, but her gaze is indescribably soft and warm, disarming the spirit who immediately raised her guard up when Lauriel walked over.

"Okay. But I don't have the power to handle you, possessing me as of the moment. I know you recognize me as the brother of the boy you almost kidnapped before the summer vacation, but I am not here for revenge. I just find your existence here disturbing." Lauriel tactlessly explained, as if belittling China. But China knew that it was the truth. As wandering and vengeful spirits like her are not welcome anymore in this realm for their lives already forfeited and the only thing binding them in this world is the strong emotion they held before they died.

- Mom...! Dad...! Save me... -

As if a vision flashing before her eyes, China remembered her last thoughts before dying. Remembered the pain her math teacher inflicted in her as he pounded on top of her while bashing her head on the floor of this very room, on the spot where she currently stands. The despair and sorrow of that moment instantly welled up again, and she couldn't help but grit her teeth, the hate coming again tenfold.

Lauriel obviously noticed this and touched China's forehead—or what was left of it—and a small pentagram appeared hovering above it, transmitting the information Lauriel gathered.

China was stumped.

"As of the moment, I assure you China, that the devil that violated and killed you is at Satan's mercy up until this moment, never to reincarnate."

---

The next day, Lauriel was walking with Auren and Jacqueline again towards the school, extremely groggy but satisfied.

Last night, before she left China alone in the storage room, they came up with the plan to possess her this afternoon and visit her family.

But before that, of course Lauriel would love to pay back what Cathy and her lackies did to her. Her head is still aching with that assault ah!

Auren looked at his big sister quietly, his eyes filled with questions why she went home last night late and bloodied. But he could not possibly ask that out in the open lest they would be discovered.

Jacqueline was also baffled why Lauriel's head were covered with bandages. But unlike Auren, she has an inkling of what happened, but never pried because it is not her business—technically.

Lauriel saw their inquiring gazes, but remained quiet. Instead, she smiled mysteriously at her companions while saying, "Prepare to play later."
