Chapter 2: Chapter 2 – The Awakening Ceremony of Starlit Village
Sarah and John deeply cared for their new granddaughter, Yue, she was the apple of their eye. As she grew up they made sure not to spoil her but to still pamper her as much as they could. By the age of three the whole village avoided the poor couple living near the forest and their peculiar daughter because of the distinct unusual pink eyes that Yue possessed. The who village believed she was possessed by a demon because of this and so they isolated her. That day the whole village was making a fuss about the awakening ceremony which the small Starlit Village was holding. The village head had a son and daughter turning three this year named Rory and Lucy. They hated Yue and loved to bully her together.
On the morning of the Awakening Ceremony the whole village was bustling in excitement. Yue get woken up and dressed by Sarah in preparation for the Ceremony. Yue was so excited. She was finally going to be the most talented in the village and she knew this fact for sure somehow. This was her last chance to prove that she wasn't a demon child to the village.
The small village hall was packed with villager coming to see the Awakening Ceremony. Each year at this time, cities and villages would have a ceremony to awaken the life stones of every three-year-old. These life stones would help dictate these children's lives; whether they'll be a farmer or a soldier. The old man who had come to the Starlit village looked wise and regal despite his age and he was going to use the special spell to awaken the children's life stones. Yue looked up to this old man with awe for she knew he was one of the legendary Royal Mages under the Emperor. I was the 3rd year since the birth of the scions and the lands were all in excitement for the Awakening Ceremony but the ceremony for the scions would only take place in another two years because although they became strong fast, they could only awaken their Life Stones when they are five-years-old.
The ceremony was starting. The old man walked up to the her, Rory, Lucy and three other children and seized them up. Then he began. Rory being the next head of village went first with his head held up high. The old man placed his head on Rory's forehead and mumbled something then a bright flash came out of Rory's body and engulfed the room in a bright orange colour. After the light had settled down the old man announced, "Stellar quartz!" and the crowd immediately cheered because although in the capital only the slums would have quartz Life Stones but in a small rural village like this with was very rare and special to have a quartz. All the children came and went and Lucy got a quartz and everyone else got a Stellar Rock. Finally, it was Yue's turn and the old man placed his hands on her forehead. He mumbled those same incomprehensible words but nothing happened. There was only an intense silence. The old man tried again but there was only a terrifying silence.
Her Life Stone could not be awakened.
