Chapter 1: Prologue

The doors burst open and a man in dark armor walks down a red carpeted path "The preparations are ready master, should we begin with the extermination of the more isolated villages?" The knight says. A man dressed in a black Cape with a hood covering his head, sits in a throne in front of him. He looks down upon the knight with eyes that seem to be perpetually displeased then in a deep and raspy voice, as if he hasn't spoken in weeks, manages to utter the words "yes, and you shall proceed with haste. I refuse to wait much longer until that lower land of heathens is wiped out" Coughing afterwards violently. The dark knight nods and starts to speak but cuts himself off when the man on the throne stands and starts walking towards him."however if you thought it'd be you who was going you'd be mistaken"

The knight flinches and starts to get up seemingly in a hurry but falls back to his knees the instant the cloaked man coughs, moments later his helmeted head falls to the ground and starts to roll

"instead I'll just be needing the body" the cloaked man speaks as he bends down and touches the casam that used to be where the knights head way poised and it lights with blue flame. The Knights head, now almost across the room, flys back onto its body and connects to the fire. A scream erupts from it as the head lands back onto the neck of the body, fire envelope the entire head in a plume of blue flames. The lifeless body continues to scream as if his soul was being ripped from hell forcibly.

The screams stop and the body stands. The head continues to be detached as the man turned into a variant dullahan and as if it's orders were already given it starts to walk away and soon after tons of footsteps are heard outside, causing the building itself to rumble as the cloaked Man sits back onto his throne

"A variant should get this done in no time, especially such a high tier type"

Sticks cracking and leaves rustling, slightly blurry figures dashing through the forest continually clashing as sparks fly. "Come on David, I know you can move that spear faster than that" one figure said as it clashed with the other.

The figure named David clashes once more with the other "Father please, this training is much to hard for me to handle much lo-" David started to utter as he tripped over a root and skidded to a halt.

The other figure, now seen to be a man with a slim figure but a built body and jet black hair sporting a short sword and a blue cloak, stops and stands beside David. "Please David, I thought I told you to call me Nethrid when we're not at home. I still need to keep up appearances as one of the heroes and that image might fail if it gets out that my own son doesn't respect me as much. "

David stood up and wiped the dirt and leave off of him and his clothes, tucking a large halberd into a strap across his back. David looks nothing like is father being taller than him but much leaner and though the only resemblance they share would be the straight black hair "I'm sure even if they saw us they wouldn't think much of it "Nethrid", it isn't like we look too similar anyway."

"That may be true but there are still many people who know we're related, word tends to get around" Nethrid said as he put his sword forward once more "come, let's go one more time"

David struggled for a second to pull out the halberd on his back but was forced back before he could by his father's sudden advance.

With a quick dash his father was back right in front of him. David brought the end of his halberd down on to him but Nethrid dodged it by a mile as if he had saw it before David even thought about it. But David was reacting just as quick, he dashed back to where Nethrid was in range of the bladed part of the halberd. David swung his halberd as hard as he could but to no avail. Nethrid jumped up and landed onto the tip of the halberd and swung his sword at David. David lifted his halberd up and flung his father off, the tossed the halberd at him like a javelin. Nethrid kicked it back at David and David just barely managed to dodge it. But by the time he grabbed it Nethrid had a sword to his throat, "not a great idea to throw your weapon"

"it'll work, you're just too fast" David was gonna continue but put his halberd back onto his back after looking in the direction of the village and saw smoke rising from it "father, I think something's happened at the village!"

Nethrid looked away from David and up in the direction of the village keeping a calm face the whole time "David, I want you to run as fast as you can to the neighboring village and warn them of whatever's happening here. Whatever's going on could be happening there too so I just want to make sure, especially since they're closer to the capital than we are." Nethrid started to run towards the village, way faster than David had ever actually witnessed.

However when David turned around to start running he encountered a man clad in dark armor that was way bigger than David. Though when David looked up to look him in the eyes, his head was actually in his hands. The head in its arms and the neck were the head should be we're shrouded with a deep blue fire and it's skin seemed stretched like it had been molded beyond its limits. Holes and tears riddled the body where the armor was too small to cover it. David backed up as fast as he could and reached for the halberd on his back however it was missing, someone or something must of stole it from him somehow but without a weapon how could he even hope to fight such a beast

"I'm… I'm sorry" the head muttered under its breath with a voice that sounded like a ghost reaching out. However as soon as it said that it started to scream, a loud shrill screech and put David off balance. David cupped his ears and fell to the ground but the noise didn't stop, almost as if it was being transmitted directly into his head. When it stopped David let his hands off his ears and they were covered with blood and David's vision was still extremely blurry. No.. no I can't die here, not now. I was… supposed to become a hero like my dad" David started to cry, helpless before the monster in front of him hoping desperately for someone to save him.

"David!" he heard as he looked to his left and saw his father rushing towards the beast, the dullahan pulled out a huge greatsword and Nethrid pulled out his short sword and they clashed, the variant dullahan was clearly more powerful when it came to raw strength but his father had more technique. They both moved faster than David could fathom and within a matter seconds of second the dullahan fell to the ground and Nethrid stood victorious

Or at least… That's what happened in David's imagination. As David laid on the ground curled up into a ball, unable to see or hear. The dullahan sauntered toward him and took out a sword similar to the one in David's delusion but not as exaggerated. The dullahan flipped David onto his back, snot running out of David's nose and sweat and tears all over his face. He plunged his sword straight into David's head through his left eye, Killing him….
