Chapter 24: Outbreak
"What do you mean by that?"
Haruhiro waited for a while but Ava no longer answered his question. Haruhiro didn't know what to do.
Should he curse the System? However, he thought that if this thing threw an even bigger tantrum the one who will lose will definitely be him. Which is why he decided to just suck it all up and throw it at the back of his mind. Finished examining the System he focused his attention outside the bus, where he could see the people of the orphanage lining up. He looked around and noticed that there are already people who have boarded, Haruhiro leaned his back on the chair and closed his eyes.
He then slowly fell asleep...
A planet scorched in flames, a tower reaching up to the sky, a country flying high in the air. These scenes passed by his mind before he dreamed of a dream.
In his dream, he saw a pair of black eyed staring at him from a forest. This eyes made him feel infinitely small, just like how an ant would feel if it was ever aware. It isn't because of how big these eyes are since these pair of eyes is almost as big as his and he doesn't feel intimidated by that. The reason is that this eyes, somehow, are filled with power. Power so vast that he felt overwhelmed.
However, Haruhiro is not afraid.
These eyes stared at him, full of curiosity or at least that's how Haruhiro sees it. The way it looks at Haruhiro is like a newborn baby familiarizing itself with its mother. Haruhiro stared at it and it stared at him, he didn't know how long this kept on going but it felt like hours.
"You're still too weak..," is what Haruhiro heard before the dream started to fade and he woke up. What greeted him first is Anna's adorable face in front of his. He felt drowsy at the beginning but Haruhiro quickly recovered. That was when he noticed that one of his cheeks seem wet, he stared at Anna weirdly before saying, "Little Anna please don't take advantage of me when I'm sleeping." Right after he said that Haruhiro felt his cheek hurting.
"Bad Wolf, what are you talking about!?"
Haruhiro completely woke up because of that slap from Anna. He definitely feels that she kissed him but he won't go and embarrass her more. "Oh, I was dreaming about that day," is what Haruhiro decided to say as an excuse. He then decided to change the topic by asking, "Have we arrived?"
"You've been asleep for three days Haru. For you to not even realize where you are right now, you must have been really exhausted."
He wanted to know what she meant by that but he quickly noticed how the space inside the bus seems to have grown larger. Haruhiro looked around and discovered that he is his inside his room in the base camp, he's even laying down the bed. He thought to himself, 'I must have been still drowsy if I didn't notice what position my body is in.'
"Haru..."
Haruhiro noticed that Anna wanted to say something to him but she seems to be hesitant. He looked at her encouragingly, making sure that the message sent to her will be, "Go on."
"Haru, it already started. It's worst than I imagined..."
Two days after Haruhiro drifted into his deep sleep because of the fatigue from the battle against Sloth and the person in white, the world collapsed. It started on the European continent, a virus outbreak happened in England's capital -London. The virus just traveled like the wind, it traveled fast and unhindered. Before the government could react, those who were in a coma stood up and chased after people in search for meat to eat. After London, the virus spread to other cities, destroying the normal lives of the people.
It only took the virus two hours to spread throughout the whole city and with how unprepared the whole country was, they were hit hard. People died not only because of the zombies but also from the panic that soon followed the whole city. Countless people made it their priority to leave the city but with all of them thinking the same thing, would it be easy? Accidents happened from one place to the other without signs of slowing down. The army was sent in but they themselves couldn't contain all these zombies by themselves and can only help those still alive evacuate.
They also wished to try and just bomb the city along with all the infected but...
Soon, it happened in other places. Asia, North and South America, Africa even the furthest places like Antarctica suffered from the outbreak.
It spread throughout the entire world without anyone able to hinder it.
The world quickly descended into a chaotic place when governments quickly collapsed when the top management themselves like presidents and such are the ones to be infected. Since no one from above was giving orders, those below panicked and stopped coordinating with the others.
As Haruhiro continued to listen at the way the apocalypse started, he couldn't help himself and frowned. 'It seems that if it really was Sloth that started all this then he really has such a huge force behind him for them to be able to spread the virus within days or if it wasn't like then they would have for sure been planning to do this for years... The only question now is why?' His frown got even bigger when he heard more of Anna's report.
"Also, the city... Haru, it collapsed even before the other countries did. I don't know how but the infected somehow spreads faster here than any other place. It was reported that they'll at least need a few hours before turning but it only took less than an hour for those infected to turn. Haru, why is this place different from the rest?"
He smiled bitterly when he thought of the possible answer to her question.
"It's possibly because of that weird person. He probably wants to smoke us out by making all his zombies search for us."
"He? Haru? Who would be able to control all those savage creatures and why would that person want to look f... You tried to kill him!?"
She looked at Haruhiro with complex emotions, Anna knew about the matter of him killing Matsumoto Riku and his friends but never really felt comfortable about it. That is understandable, however, since the apocalypse hasn't even started before but he's already killed, five people. What more could happen when governments collapsed and laws are no longer followed?
Thinking of this, she felt bitter once again as to why such an event should happen.
"That person is insane."
"Insane?"
"Don't you think ruining this world and turning it into a place ruled by zombies is one of the activities of the insane?"
"The person you fought is the one responsible for all of this?"
Haruhiro didn't notice the hatred in Anna's eyes and just continued to say, "I'm not really sure but he's got abilities that could turn a person into an undead. So I say that he's pretty much the number one suspect."
Clenching her small fists Anna muttered under her breath, "I see... He's the one who caused my life with Haru..."
The hatred in her eyes surpassed even that of Haruhiro's who died in the hands of the Undead King. If Sloth knew that it was this moment that his sworn enemy was born, his enemy who would give his life such an unbearable experience -he would definitely laugh bitterly at himself.
Of course, that is something that will happen in the future.
Anna calmed herself down since she has another report for Haruhiro to hear. She breathed in and out, after that she said to Haruhiro.
"Haru... Also, we're sorry but some people followed us back here. They're still outside the barrier but it's been three days but they still didn't leave. Soon enough they'll attract more people here and I know you don't want that. The Sentry also didn't know what to do without your orders. It's because we weren't careful that this problem is happening."
He surely doesn't want to suddenly increase the number of people inside the base camp. He also isn't some saint to just let everyone in or else the supply they have will suffer. Haruhiro thought of how he should handle this matter when he noticed how Anna dressed at this moment.
Her hair is in her usual ponytail but unlike how she usually dresses, she's wearing right now a pair of black pants, a black tank top that exposes her bellybutton and a jacket on top of it. Haruhiro even noticed how she's not wearing any underwear underneath her tank top making his blood boil.
He then decisively placed all the worries he was thinking of just a moment ago in a corner in his mind and grabbed Anna towards him on the bed.

Endless_Starlight Judging from the lack of answers I'm guessing that the answer to my question id no, so I'll just have to postpone what I was planning.
