The moment the door flung open Ronnie's heartbeat stopped momentarily. He had never faced such a situation in his life. He was extremely nervous and when the medical practitioner motioned him to come inside, he stayed rooted to his spot hesitant to move.
At that moment the man beside him tapped his left shoulder. Ronnie was pulled into reality. He slowly walked into the hut.
When he went closer, he saw that the wounded area was smeared with a green herbal paste and the blood had ceased to flow. Ronnie felt a little better that the blood flow had stopped. But he was still worried that she had no conscious.
He frowned and looked at the medical practitioner who tried to convey that she's alright now but she needs time to wake up since the wound is very deep. Rest assured her life is out of danger.
Ronnie tried very hard to understand the medical practitioner and when he fully deciphered the details, he let out a sigh of relief and sat next to her.
It continued to rain. But these hamlets had their own methods of preventing the flooding of their areas. Hence no matter how hard it rained or any flood couldn't destroy their hamlets. The modern science and technology is in fact nothing compared to the ancient science of the tribes of the world.
Later it got dark outside. So every hut lit lamps inside. Ronnie was still in the medical practitioner's hut just gazing at her silently to wake up.
His emotions had created havoc inside him. He himself didn't know why he was so worried for her. The people of the tribe thought them to be husband and wife. They were very happy to see the husband so worried for his wife. The love in his eyes didn't need words to speak. It was all visible. His love for her broke the language barrier between him and the people of the tribe.
Later another woman got him a bowl of hot steaming shakpa (stew) consisting of balls of dough, potatoes, and vegetables. But Ronnie refused to eat. He didn't feel hungry at all. Too much had happened to him that day that he needed time to digest that.
But the woman didn't leave him. The others too joined in persuading him to drink up soup. They showed in sign language that only if he eats he'll get the strength to protect her. He later drank some of it. Then he took out another pair of fresh white shirt and black pant from his backpack changed into them since he was totally drenched in the rain and rested next to the wall beside her.
Ronnie realised that he was with the Sherpa tribe of the Himalayas. The people of the tribe had accepted both of them as one among them. The Chief of the tribe made sure everybody took very good care of their guest. It was their custom to treat their guests with utmost respect and look after their every needs.
Two weeks had passed by but the girl hadn't got back her conscious. She remained in the same position. Ronnie started to worry. He thought it would be useless to waste his time here. He wanted to take her out to the city, to the best hospital and get her treated.
Just then, Ronnie saw that she moved her fingers...
