Chapter 3: ODIN’S COURT
The soldiers that brought Kai to the throne room went on there knees performing a bow to the royal family but Kai stayed on his feet admiring the high ceilings and gold covered walls.
He had no idea that his not bowing to the royal family was causing a commotion until Odin spoke.
"How dare you not show respect to the throne?" he said with a commanding voice.
Kai came back to reality when he had an angry voice and noticed the soldiers still on their knees and then looked at Odin who was giving him 'a stink eye'.
It didn't take Kai to know it was because he wasn't on his knees. He began to laugh before saying, "there is no way in hell I am bowing to you so get over it"
Hearing Kai disrespect there king, the soldiers draw their weapons to cut him down before Thor yelled, "STAND DOWN"
Kai laughed which seemed to make the atmosphere in the room tenser, but Kai didn't care, "You guys take these regal matters way to seriously" he said to the audience.
Odin looked down at Kai for a few seconds like he was a nobody before his spoke, "You have been brought before me as an intruder an offense that carries a death penalty and instead of trying to get on my good side you insult my court with your actions, I should sentence you right now to death…"
Odin paused as he let his words echo throughout the throne room before adding, "…but my son approached me and asked me to drop the death penalty and find some other form of justice because you are still a child but you actions are doing nothing to change my mind, so till me why should I spare you?"
At this point any normal person would begin repenting their actions hoping to redeem themselves but Kai wasn't a normal person. He was sure in this room with people who are looked upon by Midgard as gods, he was truly the closest thing to a god.
But Kai wasn't in the mood to show off what he could really do so he looked for another way to change Odin's mind without him having to lose Asgard as a potential ally.
He looked Odin in the eye before looking to his right were his wife Frigga. She didn't look like her mind was in the throne room following these proceedings but rather drifted away think of something else.
"Hmm she must still be mourning Loki's death…" he thought and that is when an idea came to him.
Turning his gaze back to Odin, he took a deep breath and said, "I am the last of my people… the last son of Krypton"
This statement seemed to bring Frigga minds back to the throne room which was what he was aiming for.
"Explain" Frigga said finally breaking her silence.
Kai changed the expression on his face from a cocky bastard to a man recalling a dark past and then he began to tell his tale.
"I am from a planet in a very far off galaxy from here called…that used to be called Krypton. Due to the planet's sun exhausting its core, the sun went super nova and my planet, my home, my family were all wiped out."
Kai paused and acted like that he was recalling his home go up in flames as wave of solar radiation roasted the planet. This paused had the desired effect as most the court's opinion on him began to change.
Then he continued, "The only reason I survived is because my parents used the last remaining space ship to send me in to space, but even then, my ship was still hit by the sun's blast wave as I entered Slip space getting destroyed, and the next thing I remember I was here arrested and thrown in to a cell and on standing trail for surviving the extinction of my race" and with those words said, Kai when quiet and looked at Odin.
After a few seconds of silence, "Now pass your judgement" he said.
There was silence in the throne room as everyone waited for Odin to pass his judgement.
Odin stood up and looked done at Kai, "I find you guilty of intrusion in to Asgard and my palace"
Kai sighed in his mind and thought to himself, "I guess a fight can't be avoided after all"
He was about to break out of his cuffs when Odin said, "I will let me son Thor decide your punishment"
Odin then turned and walked out with his wife by his side as the whole court bowed to him expect Kai.
Thor then walked down from the throne to stand next to Kai.
"So what's my punishment" Kai asked
With a wide smile appeared on Thor's face "You are a free man, looks like you live to fight another day"
Thor then pointed to one of the soldiers, "release him from these cuffs"
"No need" Kai said as he with a simple jerk of his hands the handcuffs were ripped apart.
Kai flexed his fingers which were feeling stiff when he noticed the soldiers and Thor with a stunned look on their faces as they looked at Kai then at the cuffs laying on the ground.
Then began the most interesting conversation between Thor and one of the soldiers.
"Were those cuffs made of Uru?" Thor asked.
"Yes, we use Uru cuffs on prisoners that are presented to the King" a solider replied.
Thor chuckled, "so you are tell me he ripped Uru steel like it was paper"
"It would seem so your highness." the same solider replied in a clam voice as he tried not to freak out.
Thor slowly shook his head as he said "But that isn't possible"
"It would seem he is very strong your highness"
"Much stronger than me?"
"…..I dare not answer that your highness"
"We could always have a contest of strength and find out who stronger" Kai suddenly said interrupting there conversation.
Thor turned to him and smiled at the suggestion, "that is a great idea" he said.
"May I asked your name?"
"It's Kal El"
"Well Kal El how about we head to the arena" Thor said as he led Kai to a flying skiff.
The flying skiff flow across the Asgardian airspace and came to land at a massive stadium like structure.
"Welcome to the arena" Thor said with a smile.
