Chapter 5: Scarlet
He has been drinking wine all day.
He didn't know for what reason he started drinking, for his sorrow, for his daughter's pain or maybe both. Cornelius began to thinking if he screwed something up at one point in time, his life had its moments mostly sad, but there were also some happy moments. Meeting his wife was one of the most comfortable of them all second to his daughter's birth.
Now that his daughter got abandoned by the man that should have been with her for the rest of her life, he would be her pillar of emotional support also to help her raise his grandchild. Thinking that he is now a grandfather made him realise how time went by, so he started drinking more until a voice from behind startled him.
''To think that a once known general would indulge into drinking wine over some petty reason. ''
Cornelius rubbed his eyes since tears gathered in them. The voice brought him back to reality and also seeing the figure of the woman he missed for so many years made him think that he was having hallucinations because of wine.
''Sca... Scarlet? ''
''Yes it's me, why question? has it been too long that it made you forget me?''
''How could I ever forget you? ''
The woman in red was so beautiful that no words could express his current emotions. Hard to make him forget the image of the woman in front of him.
''Master, come quick!''
When Cornelius entered, he saw two young girls by his daughter's bed.
''Master, the lady is badly poisoned.''
Hearing this, Scarlet rushed to the bed to check on her daughter. Upon a closer look, she frowned.
''Silent torment! Wake her up June.''
''Yes Master.''
Soon after a flame appeared on the little girl's finger, the fire was dark blue, and it gave the impression of pure coldness. Bringing the flame to the nose of the woman sleeping, dark smoke soon got out of the woman's body and got swallowed up by the flame.
''It's done, master.''
''Well done my pupil.''
Confused Cornelius asked what of what happened only to hear the full story out of Scarlet, the more he heard, the more enraged he became.
''That stinky brat, I knew he was trouble the moment I saw him when I see him ill beat him senseless.''
Shortly after the woman in bed opened her eyes and saw the people around her, but before she could even open her mouth to say something, she had gotten embraced by the woman in red, which started crying.
''My poor, poor daughter how much you must have suffered all these years without me, im so so sorry I had to leave you.''
''Mother?!'' Is she my mother? Upon thinking of all the time they were separated she also started crying.''
. . .
''Today I came to take our daughter away, she can't stay here anymore and neither can you anymore. For all that happened today I will storm that family of snakes and make them pay dearly.''
''I understand, is just that it's all too sudden,im just happy to see you again, this time would you let me join you?''
''You're not strong enough Cornelius,you're just in the primary elemental stage, those people are way stronger than you. '
