Chapter 2: Chapter 2
As we got ready to leave I kept wondering who this guy Ash wanted to hook me up with was. His name is all I have to go by, River. So unique and lovey, I can't wait to talk to him again. Asher is my best friend, I trust he wouldn't pick a terrible guy for me.
"Awinita are you ready to grace everyone with our presence at this Ball?" Asher proudly asked as if we were Royal or something.
"Why yes actually, let's get going, the Ball started 15 minutes ago."
We head to Asher's car, which is extremely expensive because of the type of family he comes from, and enjoy a 10 minute drive listening to all sorts of rock songs ranging from Led Zeppelin to Green Day. Ash and I have always loved rock and he joined a rock band back in highschool for a minute.
As we get out of the car and head in, I see these elegant people I barely recognize. I look over at Ash trying not to panic, these things always make me anxious. I worry I'm over or under dressed, that I actually look silly, just stupid little things that make me feel kinda sick.
"Awinita, I'm going to get you some punch, there's someone I want you to meet so don't wonder off," Ash suddenly mumbles in my ear before walking away. I start to feel out of place and look for the restroom and head toward it. I know I work with all these people but it's just not the same.
I leave the restroom after calming down and get half way down the hall before realizing I forgot my mask. I turn go head back and end up stopping in my tracks, this guy, I'm not sure who he is, looks so lovely. After realizing I was staring I start to head around him to get my mask but he grabs my arm.
"Wait, who are you?"
"I... Who are you?"
"I asked first, but I'm River."
Wait, I was talking to a River earlier, no way is it the same person. Instead of telling him my real name I say my middle name, Opal. I continue heading to the bathroom after escaping his clench and put back on my mask, I need to find Ash before the farewell ceremony starts.
I find Asher talking to a group of girls, figures. He's such a player, but I still love him. We've been best friends since I can remember, we've always been there for eachother. Our relationship has never been more than friendly and probably won't ever, I'm fine with that.
"Yo Asher, come on, did you get me punch?"
"Boo bear you left me, I was so sad that drank your punch." I give him a swat and drag him to get some punch.
"You are such a child Ash, I leave for three minutes to use the restroom and you are already trying to hook up."
"Hmph, you are so mean, I was just trying to make friends, you aren't my mom,"Asher pouts before swiping my cup away and drinking it for himself.
"Might as well be," I mumble before grabbing his arm and dragging him. "Ash come on it's time for the ceremony."
"Ooo you'll finally get to see the person I wanted you to meet!"
We make our way there and stand a little back behind the stage where the CEO will be giving a speech as well as the guy leaving. After this the party will actually get started with all sorts of games.
