Chapter 28: Dont Blame the Food

"Is something bothering you?" Jamie asked Mira.

A few days had passed since her encounter with Jenny, and these days, Jamie has been noticing her unease.

Mira looked at Jamie who was busy outlining a banner for their class presentation in the upcoming school festival.

"I think Jenny found someone new to bother."

"What do you mean?" Jamie looked up from what she was doing.

"Just that. I didn't see who it is, but Im sure that she was Jenny's new victim."

"Jenny huh... Your bestfriend is really something else."

Mira gave a sharp glance at Jamie. "Ex-bestfriend."

Jamie help up her hand in surrender. "I get it."

Mira sighed. She felt bad about it. Anyway, Jenny might be nasty but Mira knew that Jenny wasn't the type to be that nasty without a reason. There must be some kind of reason why that she is bothering that girl.

Mira looked at where Sophie is. Jenny hates Sophie because whether intentionally or not, Sophie overshadows Jenny. Aside from that, their personality is like an oil and water. Well, Jenny hates Mira now too, and it must be because she ditched her to be friends with Sophie. That's why Mira know that there must be a reason why Jenny is bullying that girl. Well, it might be a petty reason too, Jenny can be illogical sometimes.

She frowned, trying to place herself in Jenny's shoes when the bell rang signaling the start of their lunch break.

Jamie packed up her materials before turning to her. "Lets go. We'll eat lunch outside."

Behind the main building of their school is a garden where students can hang out. The garden was very well taken off with its healthy flowers and other plants. Class sections usually rotates in taking care of the garden so that it can remain healthy.

Under a blossom tree, Mira and the gang is taking their lunch.

Jamie brought out a stack of lunch boxes and gently put it down in the Bermuda grass-covered ground.

"Hey, none of you brought a picnic blanket?" Jamie asked.

Kang Jun took off his outer uniform and handed it to her. "We are in school. Just sit in the grass and use this to cover your legs."

Jamie rolled his eyes before taking his uniform and sitting in the ground.

"Where's Luigi and Justin?" Mira curiously asked.

"They'll follow soon. They have to take care some stuffs in their club." Sophie answered.

Only minutes later when Luigi and Justin finally arrived. Luigi immediately sat beside Mira, which surprised her. Her face flushing, she scooted immediately to give space. Jamie opened the lunch boxes she brought, revealing different type of dishes to be paired with rice.

"Err, I didn't bring any rice with me." Luigi said upon seeing the side dishes.

Jamie frowned. "I only brought 1 extra rice with me."

Mira saw that the extra lunch box with rice is already on Kang Jun's lap, with him grinning victoriously. "It's mine."

Jamie rolled his eyes.

"Did anyone bring more than they should?" Kang Jun asked.

Sophie looked down on their lunch box. Its a lot, but not if you consider that she will share with Justin.

Everyone looked at Eugine.

He looked down at his lunch box before shaking his head. Its only enough for one person. He thought of suggesting to take a little portion from each of them to give it to Luigi when Mira suddenly spoke.

"He can have some of mine." Mira said hesitantly. She's not sure if Luigi would be fine with sharing with her. "I cant eat all of mine anyway. If that's fine with you Luigi."

Luigi blinked before smiling brightly. "Of course Im fine with that, why wouldn't I be? Thanks Mira."

Mira felt as if she was being blinded by light. She was right after all, Luigi's smile is just so bright that it felt like looking at the sun. She can't help but smile brightly back at him too. They started to eat.

When Eugine saw the interaction between the two, the eggroll he was eating suddenly lost its taste. He stared at the eggroll, not knowing why.

"Hey, why did you stop eating?" Justin asked.

"The egg roll taste bla-" He suddely stopped speaking. He had a bad feeling.

Beside him, Jamie was looking at him darkly, her chopsticks suspended midair. Eugine felt that if he continued talking, Jamie's chopsticks would probably stab him.

"Huh?" Kang Jun looked at him in confusion. "The egg roll? What about it?"

He picked one slice before tasting it. The savory taste bursted inside his mouth. He nodded in approval. "I see nothing wrong with this. It taste great. Did you cook it?" He asked Jamie.

Jamie nodded.

Sophis was surprised. "Then, did you cook all of this?"

Jamie nodded again.

All of them was impressed. Everything tasted great and it was such a surprised to them that Jamie can already cook this well while she was still in high school. Sophie was especially envious. She wished that she can also cook like this. Aside from boiling egg and water and frying hotdogs and sunny eggs, she cant cook anything else without burning their whole kitchen. Her mother even banned her from cooking. Song Yi pouted when she remembered that.

"Its not that difficult." Jamie said.

On the side, Eugine was quietly eating his lunch without meeting Jamie's eyes.

Jamie sneered at him. This guy. If you lost your appetite because you are jealous, just say so! You even dared to blame it in my cooking. Hmmp. Seeing that the guy doesn't even know what's happening to him, she decided to let him go.

"Im living alone. If I want to avoid living my life eating takeouts, I must learn how to cook." Jamie said.

Everyone nodded. That makes sense. But still, it was a surprise to them. It seems like Jamie's family is quite well-off. For children like her who obviously grew up with golden spoon, there was no need for them to learn household skills. What for when they can hire people to do it for them? That notion might seem irritating for other people, but its true.

"Its a surprise to know that your family lets you live alone. Anyway, these taste great. You should cook for us again." Kang Jun grinned.

Jamie rolled her eyes. "Just eat."
