Chapter 5: Living away from Ervore
Living away from the palace as a princess is hard for Jenny. She gave up luxurious life. But she's happy. What is the meaning of the word luxury if her life is miserable? It's better to live simple and happy.
This is the life they got after leaving Ervore. Simple and Happy. Though they live as robbers in the woods, They eat three times a day. And sleep in a comfy home. They don't have to work for anyone but theirselves. Women don't have to worry if someone is going to get and rape them. Old ones are peaceful. What more can they ask for?
Since then Jenny became their leader after the guard she met at the pulley house of the palace's gate got killed. She is 21 and knows the forest like the palm of her hands. She learned to fight. Some men from her people likes her. But she ain't got interest on things like that.
Claude, though is a very patient suitor. He brings flowers everyday. Prepared her lunch after a mission. Fetch her water. Gives her expensive things they got from robbing. He even took a bullet for her from a gun in their mission a long time ago.
"Hey Jenny my sweet potato" As expected, Five pieces of white roses on his hands.
"A potato? What?" Curious and Laughing. He is a hopeless romantic but he is indeed funny.
"Yeah. A sweet potato. Because.. " Then he bring out the boiled potato he's been hiding in his right hand.
"I brought you some." Not so handsome but Claude is cute. He has blue eyes and a red hair. Tall and very nice body build. He has dimples on both his cheeks. That's why he's cute. Specially when he smiles. And he smiles. Like. A lot. Like he knows that he's cute when he do that.
"Why thank you Claude. You are very sweet." She pinch his cheeks and smiled. She loves him. But as a friend. Almost a brother. "Mind if I give half of this to Elder Alice?"
"Oh no. Ofcourse not. I'll give it to her myself if you want?"
Elder Alice is the oldest member of their people. They treat her as their grandmother. They ask for advice. She cooks delicious meal for them. Everyone loves her. Her daughter didn't come with them because she believes that there's no life outside the castle. She thought that they couldn't survive without their King.
"Hi Nana Alice. How are you?" Jenny gave the potato herself. She treated Elder Alice as her mother since their escape from the palace.
"Oh my. My Beautiful Jenny." The elder kissed her forehead and her hands.
"Though I could give you something to chew."
"Well my teeth's half gone but one potato can't take the other half" The Elder laugh and Jenny too.
"Oh and Claude is here too. Come here son"
They sat in front of her while watching her finish the potato. She isn't that young anymore. Like when they were kids. They'd play outside and She will teach them how to cook.
"Nana Alice isn't getting younger you know, I wanted to say, you save my dying soul when you let me come with you back then"
"Oh Nana," Jenny holds Nana Alice's hands and Claude hugs her.
"Life is so much better here. Living away from Ervore is one of the right things I did in my Life. The other one is giving birth to my Daughter. I missed her so much."
The elder cried and cried. They felt bad because they can't do nothing to make her happy. They tried finding her daughter at Ervore but They didn't saw her there. They send men to look for her again and again but couldn't find her. They thought maybe the King got her and locked her up but they couldn't tell that to Nana Alice. She's too weak to handle such heartbreaks.
Suddenly a long sound of a horn was heard. "Someone's coming" Jenny slowly went to the small window and take a peek. The two royalties from before is heading toward their houses. They looked lost. She stuck her eyes on the prince. He's so handsome. And he looks really a royalty. From his shinny blonde hair. His white and flawless skin. He looks like someone is serving him breakfast every morning. And someone is scrubbing his body while in a cold and fragrant water from the bath tub. "How lucky is the lady scrubbing his body?" Her brain said. "Wha.. " She was shocked from what her brain said.
"There's two of them." Claude cuts her arguing mind.
"Yes. I can see that Claude."
"Yeah. But it looks like you only have your eyes on one of them only."
"What?? No! I'm" Alibis. Come to my mind. Now. Right now.
"I'm looking at his clothes. It looks fancy. And expensive."
"Oh. I'm sorry. Haha! Thought you're lookong at his.. Uhm not so pretty face. I mean, look at him. He.. Uh.. He look like a little girl right?"
She ignored what he said. She hand signalled to the next tree house. She signalled not to come down but follow them. She didn't know why but she feel like she had to get close to this royalty.
