Chapter 3: The other one...

It wasn't difficult to find Jason's mobile number. Austin, who was Jason's neighbor and cousin, had it. He had mentioned it when they have spoken the last time.

Nadia looked for Jason or anyone of his gang before she gave up and went looking for Austin. As usual, she found him in the football ground, sweaty and exhausted. His shirt clung to him revealing his developing muscles underneath. He was lying on the ground, resting his body before the final practice. The football team was excused from all the classes to prepare the upcoming match against their rival school, The Lakeview high. It wasn't like they were the champions every time, but every time they lost , the winner team humiliates the loser side by making them run all their errands until the next game. Lakeview high was the present champion, but Bayside high had one of the best teams ever with Austin leading it.

Nadia had met Austin at the starting of Junior year when they bumped into each other rushing to the auditorium. She had had a crush on him ever since the moment he picked up her books and stood to offer them to her. She knew the moment she laid her eyes on him, he was her prince charming. She never liked fairy tales but that second she understood how Cinderella felt looking at the prince. They met often in the hallway and had french together. He had transferred there from Chicago to keep his ailing grandmother company and unfortunately, for Nadia, also was in relation with a senior, which was neither serious nor casual.

Nadia let out a breathe she didn't know she was holding as she walked towards the person lying on the ground. His face looked so tired yet peaceful like everything he had worked for has been achieved. The dirty blonde hair , usually so neat and dignified was sticking up in every direction. She wondered if that was how Eros looked.

She cleared her throat gently to get his attention. Austin opened his eyes and fixed his kaleidoscopic eyes on her. He gave a small smile when he recognized her. " Hey Ms.Berg ,what are you doing here?" . he said teasingly. Nadia blushed remembering he had named her the iceberg that Titanic had hit when they bumped into each other. It made no sense still her heart fluttered knowing she meant something enough to be given a silly name.

"Nothing Mr.Boat . I was wondering if you could give me Jason's number since we are supposed to meet after school and he doesn't know when and where." she said with a smile.

"A date?", he asked with concern with a little disappointment in his eyes. She never understood what that meant. Every time she talked to another boy , she could feel somebody watching her and she always found Austin close by. If he was interested in her , he never made any move.

Nadia battled her eyelashes flirtingly and twirled her hair around her finger."Gee, I wish. It is only for a project I need him. But maybe later..."

Austin laughed heartily. "You are quite an actress ,you know." He gave her the number and before he could say something, the coach blew the whistle. "Maybe later..", he said with a sigh . With that , he ran to join the team.
