Chapter 2: Chapter 2
"one last chance!" said the boy as he climbed the tree with two other boys. I didn't want any trouble. just as they reached my perch I jumped down the other side and ran. I ran until I reached a dead end. I must've lost them by now. Right? I turned around and saw the 3 boys running up to me.
"you're gonna pay for that little stunt you pulled!" growled the leader.
"I don't want any trouble," I began, but before I knew it I was on the ground and two boys were on top of me. I tried to break free but they were to strong especially with my weak body. A sudden pain shot through my body as one of the boys pulled out a knife and slit my left wrist. My vision blurred and then.... black.
"Hey. Hey! wake up. Are you alright?" I opened my eyes to see a boy standing over me. he held out his hand to help me up. this boy was not like the others. instead of a smug smirk and dark eyes this boys smile was gentle and kind. his eyes were sparkling and warm.
"yes I'm fine." I stuttered. he glanced at my wrist.
"that looks pretty bad, it could be infected," the boy tore off a peice of his shirt and bandaged the wound. "my name is John by the way," he finished wrapping up my wrist. "is that better?"
"yeah thanks. My name is Remi," I replied. This boy, he's so kind and gentle. I've never met anyone like him.
"You should still go to a hospital."
"I don't have any money." it wasn't true. I did have money but it was difficult to steal and i tried to save it for hospital check ups because of my sickness.
"What about your parents?"
"They're gone," wait a minute. what am I doing? why am I telling him all this stuff?
"oh sorry. I'll pay," he apologized.
Suddenly I started coughing up blood.
"what's going on? are you alright?" John supported me with his arm and draped my hand over his shoulder. When the coughing fit ended I explained my weekly visits to the hospital, my emotionless and week body, my sickness, and the fact that I will die in three months.
