Chapter 9: Chapter 9: Blooming hope
I was trembling all over, as I felt the cold stares he keep giving on my back. Digging deep enough for me to feel terrified all over. I almost lose my balance when a sudden hand tug me up.
"No--Nolan" I said trembling.
"Eiri" His deep voice was tinged with darkness.
It really wasn't really the first time I heard his voice stating my name, only in a darker and gloomier voice as always.
I have never heard him calling my name in a gentle way.
"I--I was about to c-come home" I showed him a weak smile despite the throbbing pain in my foot.
"That's right, I was about to hail a cab but there's a good Samaritan who offered us a lift" Rika said without care which made me bit my lips in frustration.
She's too dense!
With this current situation, she only added fuel into the raging fire that is named as Nolan.
"Oh? Is that so?" He said in a mocking tone, his eyes darken all the way as he look behind him only to be surprised at a second then it was changed into an emotion I couldn't quite decipher
"Cohen"
"Li jun"
Two cold icebergs met and immediately, the atmosphere turned a lot colder as I shiver from the incoming casualty that is about to happen in front of me.
"Hey Eiri, I didn't know that the two of them are close" Rika whispered in my ear as she look at them in a curios way.
Close?! Rika must have been blind or there's something wrong in her mind today.
The two men continued to gaze at each other, the other was a untamed beast with eyes that always seemed to be cold and alert while the other is like a hunter, playful but still vicious in the inside.
"N--Nolan" I suddenly said.
The two men look at me, Nolan's eyes still hold the frostiness on him while Li jun immediately replaced it with a playful look.
"Maybe we should go now"
He only looked at me like I was just a passerby, and then he opened his car and went inside. I was standing, still frozen in shock when his frigid voice rang out.
"Come here!" His tone held repressed anger as his eyes dared me to defy him.
As usual, I cowered at his order and opened his car, with the help of Rika on me. Unknowingly, Rika left me when Nolan's eyes dart towards her face, and for the first time, I felt like she wasn't that stupid anymore.
At least she's not too dense to see the upcoming calamity that she'll face the time she step her foot here in Nolan's car.
Suddenly, a voice tinged with gentleness came with the man who was still in the car.
"You should treat her right, you never know, maybe someone could become a thief and stole her"
His voice shook me to the core, and as I look at him, the seriousness in his face made my heart beat faster.
"No one will. I'll make sure of it" Gritting his teeth in repressed anger, he said those words without looking at Li jun again and immediately left the place.
Along with his words the sudden bloom of hope sprouted on me.
Is this finally it?
Is he finally realizing that I'm here, that I am his wife?
