Chapter 3: Soaring Sword Sect

Lin Xun was shivering on the ground, had New Mulberry City not been exposed to an immortal in the past, he would have doubted his own eyes.

The immortal made a motion with his hand and the stone flew up to the sky, releasing Chen Mingyue in the process. Yet she was not better off, her scream pierced the sky as she held her bloody foot in her hands.

The immortal, Deacon Xu, clearly annoyed by the noised pulled out a brown bill from his robes and crushed it. The wind carried the remains of the crushed pill to Chen Mingyue's leg, healing it instantaneously.

Lin Xun fainted. All the outrageous events of the day have made him question everything he had ever know, plus the lack of food didn't help.

"Thank you dear immortal", Chen Mingyue squealed in relief. "Did the great fairy send you to save me?"

"Fairy?" Questioned Deacon Xu.

"Zhao Ling", Chen Mingyue replied.

A look of realization appeared on Deacon Xu's face, but he quickly shook his head.

"Tell me what happened here?"

Shang Yuan interjected himself into the conversation, "a sudden explosion killed almost everyone here."

"I can see that", Deacon Xu snapped back. "Why?"

"It was probably caused by her", Shang Yuan point at Chen Mingyue. "She's the one with the connection to the immortal."

"Ha!" Chen Mingyue gave of a stark, almost crackling laugh.

Hatred like lava sneaked within Shang Yuan's core.

"It doesn't matter what you all say, the sect will determine the truth," said Chen Mingyue.

"Sect?" Both Shang Yuan and Chen Mingyue yelled in confusion.

"The Soaring Sword Sect, the true rulers of this domain."

Slowly the three children's bodies started to float as three swords from Deacon Xu's brush picked them up. Quickly the four figures flew away, leaving the city lying in its ruin. Forever unavenged.

...….

After a few days of flying, the three children were exposed to a new world. Outside of the Xia empire's range existed towering mountains filled with magnificent beasts of a magnitude of colours and clouds filled with endless birds with wingspans that covered the night.

To keep them from starving Deacon Xu gave them the so-called Fastening Pills from the immortal world, that quenched their hunger in a matter of minutes.

Deacon Xu spoke no words from the moment he stole them, but minds wavered after such a long time in the sky.

Lin Xun, who regained consciousness after a few hours, turned his attention to Chen Mingyue.

"Lady Chen?" Lin Xun said turning to her. "Are you alright after losing your family?"

Chen Mingyue, seemingly unphased from the incident, ignored Lin Xun.

Shang Yuan snarled. "Don't you know beggar, she has no heart. She probably thinks its too inconvenient to actually give a care for anyone that isn't her pretty little self."

Chen Mingyue continued to ignore the two boys. "Dear immortal, when do you think we will be arriving at the great sect."

The immortal remained quiet, as if in a form of meditation.

Shang Yuan again turned to Lin Xun, "See, she thinks she's better than us, but I bet that fairy she got to slaughter my clan doesn't even remember her."

This time Chen Mingyue showed a change in tone, blistering anger. Shang yuan had clearly hit a sore spot, yet she still didn't engage with his bickering. Placing herself above him morally and in standing.

As Shang Yuan was about to throw out another insult, a remarkable sight appeared in front of them. They had arrived at the Soaring Sword Sect.

Enormous mountains arose, with clouds surrounding them. On top of the mountains were beautiful red temples, with piercing white swans whose sizes were indiscernible from the distance, but were undoubtedly gigantic. There were thousands of immortals interacting in front of the mountains, on top of flying swans or terrifying swords.

The most striking part of the whole experience though was a white snake, a colossal being that intertwined between the layers of the mountain. The three children had probably never seen something alike their whole lives, a monstrosity of power.

For the first time, Lin Xun saw Shang Yuan's hubris shaken as he was shivering. Although Shang Yuan displayed fear when he first saw Deacon Xu, he still possessed a sort of resilience about him, but when it came to the snake, there was no question regarding his fear. Chen Mingyue was no better off.

The attention of the young immortal in front of the mountain turned to them. Some showed expressions of disdain, while others of surprise, but most showed expression of curiosity.

One of the braver groups flew forward.

"Are these some talented disciples you found in the mortal world Deacon Xu?" The disciple looked no older than fourteen, yet he portrayed a powerful image.

"No", Deacon Xu said. "They're related to an incident that occurred in the mortal world, I'm taking them to the Law Enforcement Hall to be questioned."
