Chapter 4: The Mask Storage Temple
Naruto opened his eyes, his body aching, one or two grunts escaping his body as he tried to sit and determine where he was at the moment.
A greenish color was present in front of his eyes. When focusing his eyes in front of him, he found that it was the color of the leaves of the tree he was laying under.
"you awake?" He heard Karin's voice.
"What happened?" he asked.
"That state you were in, put too much strain on your body and due to it you then collapsed" Karin explained
"But I was training my body all the time and you also said that we Uzumaki's have a stronger vitality, didn't you?" He took up a sitting position, body still aching.
"Hmph, you really are an idiot aren't you?" Karin said but all she got in return was a sheepish grin, "those clones of your's are only good for muscle memory and chakra training, it helps in memory but not physically. If it could help you like that, then wouldn't it be a heaven-defying ability"
"Ohh, guess I am an idiot na?" said Naruto and started laughing loudly, but that cheerfulness soon turned into seriousness and he looked towards Karin's and asked, "But Karin, why did you call me a monster?"
Karin trembled a bit, "You know I have the ability to see chakra right?"
Naruto gave a low mhm.
"So when I used that ability on your body when you opened that gate of opening, I found a chakra very different from yours, a chakra immersed in immense hatred and anger erupting from your abdomen."
"Immense anger huh?" Naruto said, looking towards his abdomen.
'what is in me?' he thought, but his face got much cheerful again and said, "but aren't you the real monster here Karin?"
"who knows" Karin sighed "wait WHAT!!!!!!!, NARUTO!!"
"hehehe" Naruto gave a chuckle and ran straight in the forest where it was the deepest.
"Do you think you can outrun me Naruto?" as soon as Karin said this she sped up and when she was just about to catch Naruto, she was met with a sudden outburst of chakra.
"The Gate of Opening!!" she exclaimed.
Karin was confused how he opened the Gate of Opening because of the enormous strain it puts on the user's body and she knew Naruto's body wasn't capable enough to bear that strain. She stopped and called out Naruto's name to ask him about this anomaly but all she got was a Naruto slapping his own butt and taunting her.
"You damned IDIOT!!!!" Karin let out a low shout and soon the game of catch started again.
As they both went deeper in the forest Naruto observed that the canopy overhead was getting denser and less and less sunlight was able to pass through.
Karin also noticed this and stopped to tell Naruto that this was the part of the forest in which the Mask Storage Temple of The Uzumaki Clan was situated.
Even though she was really angry at Naruto but she didn't pursue the matter as she thought that it must be Naruto's nature to pull pranks and doing mischief.
Soon they both started walking together towards the deepest recesses of the forest.
The forest started getting denser and denser and was accompanied by a deathly silence, indicating the absence of life there.
All Naruto and Karin were able to hear was the sound of the leaves rustling due to the wind.
"hey Karin, do you think that our clan was some type of an evil secret cult?" Naruto asked.
"Why?" was the only word in return he got.
"Because who in their right mind would build a temple in the middle of this evil and dark place, right?" Naruto shuddered, observing the deathly silence of the place.
"It's just how it is, maybe it is due to the souls that are used in our sealing jutsu's, and why should I know if the Uzumaki Clan was an evil cult? do you see me as an all-seeing granny?"
Naruto looked towards Karin and said very seriously "NO, of course not, how could you be a granny? you're clearly an all-seeing monster"
But all Naruto got was a punch straight to his nose, sending him flying in the bushes.
"Why do you always hit my face, does my face looks like a punching bag to you?" Naruto complained while rubbing his nose, "ahh, it hurts!!"
"Hmph, serves you right, you bastard" Karin replied following up with an affirmative nod to herself.
After walking for some time they finally reached the Uzumaki Clan's Mask Storage Temple. Mostly it was in tatters, stairs in the front covered by a wooden canopy whose one stand was broken. In the front of it was a stone road, and there was a big symbol of the Uzumaki Clan on the top of the opening and everything was quiet and dark giving off a creepy feeling.
Both of them went into the temple, but just as Naruto was about to enter the main opening he felt a chain around his legs, squeezing them really hard.
"ahhhh!!!!" he screamed as loud he could.
