Chapter 2: 002
A few days have past and the three of them would always hang out.
One day, Jiahao went to Ai's house.
"You live here?" he asked her.
Ai who was surprised when Jiahao showed up in her front door.
"Yes," she said as she opened the door for him.
He quickly sat on the sofa.
"Where're your parents?" he asked as he made himself comfortable.
"They're at work today," she said as she sat on the chair adjacent to Jiahao's chair.
"But it's weekend, do they still work?" Jiahao naively asked.
'Of course, he wouldn't know. He's way far above me,' she thought.
"Yep, what are you doing here?" she asked, changing the topic.
"I thought about it for a long time and I came to ask you this," he said as his eyes shined brightly.
"What is it?" she asked, excitement rose inside her.
"I've liked you for a long time. Will you be my girlfriend?" he suddenly asked which caught her off-guard.
She stammered but before she could even answer his question, he turned towards her and held her shoulders.
"Is it the right way to confess to Jing-jing?" he asked as he turned towards the wall again while messing his hair out of confusion.
Her smile disappeared quickly.
'Of course, who would like someone who was the constant target of bullies? someone who's too poor to even afford after-school snacks?' she thought.
"Ai! I need you to help me! I've been getting frustrated," he said as he sat back down.
Her expression secretly turned dark but she faced him with a smile again.
"She mentioned she's under a lot of pressure from her dad and her brothers, especially from her grandfather. I don't know why. I think you should postpone your confession for now," she said as she sat down beside him and patted his back.
"Huh? That's weird. I've known her since kindergarten but her dad, especially her grandfather always make sure she doesn't get a lot of pressure. Her brothers would always make sure she's comfortable in any way. Did she tell you why?" he asked, getting worried about Jing.
"No, she's a little down right now," she said.
He quickly stood up.
"I should go and talk to her. She needs someone to talk to right now," he said.
"No!" she yelled.
"No?" Jiahao asked with his other brow raised.
"Ahh hahaha, I mean no, she texted me earlier she wanted to be left alone for now," she said.
"Really? I've known her for so long that whenever she's left alone when she's down, it gets dangerous for her mental health. I need to see her now," he said as he quickly left. "See you!"
After he left, she clenched her fists.
"I'm better than her. I've worked hard for everything I have while she's just a spoiled rich girl who does nothing," she said as she clenched her teeth, trying to prevent tears to come rolling down.
