Chapter 9: Clueless
Layla sat up and looked at Derrick with concern written all over her face. She brace herself before allowing her feelings to spiral out of control. She tried to guest what he could possible say but the one thing she realized in that moment was if he spoke of an EX she would be enraged with jealousy.
Taking note of her silence Derrick continued. "Jack Lee is a possible cliental in a future endeavor". "Ofcourse, I research all clients before even sharing a room to discuss business thats just my way". "In his profile I noticed a common denominator in all his business markers for the last 8 years"... "Sweetness do you know what it is?".
Layla was stuck on stupid she had no idea where he was going with this, how should she know what his business profile consist of ?. Layla raised a brow with I don't know expression on her face.
Derrick lip curve upward as he continue, realizing she really had no clue. Derrick got up and squat in front of her. Kiss me..., Layla started from his forehead to his nose then to his lips as their tongues danced, Layla forgot about the conversation they were having. Sensing her calminess Derrick kissed her a bit more before releasing her saying "it's you".
Layla repeated, "its me?". Guiding her to stand up then sitting, he placed her on his lap. He laid her back like a baby in a craddled position.
"What do you mean?" Layla said, slipping in the essence of his scent. "It shows that whatever your invested in, he's magically invested in as well". "It seem he like to follow you, behind the shadows".
Layla was amaze at the information she received but, why would he do this? she thought as sleep start to creep on her like he casted a spell.
"I gathered he's trying to dominate you"... "yet what concerns me is... you only dated for 4 years so..., why has he target you longer?" Layla eyes lit up as she heard this. They haven't had relations for 2 years and dated for 4 years had he been watching her for 2 years prior to this. Derrick concerns became hers instantly.
How is it possible? How did she not pick up on this over the years?. "I wanted to talk to you about this when I found out but, our dinner was cancelled so, I had no choice but to meet him. what I didn't expect was your reaction. I thought he was bullying you at first, yet in actuality you didn't have a clue.
Layla felt like her IQ and EQ dropped to a record low. Had you offend him in anyway? what about someone in his family? Layla scuffed at the idea "He has offended me... I don't live in malice or negativity". "If so he would not live in his peace while, I struggled with no closure, I don't get it at all.
Derrick kissed her forehead, "I will make sure you get your closure". "As for this I'm still gathering intel". "Matter of fact you will accompany me at the meeting tomorrow, I'll let you in on the Zaddy affect". Layla chuckled, then said yes Zaddy it's take your baby to work day. Derrick smirked because he knew she didn't have any idea what to expect or what he meant. Jack would be present, nevertheless, he had no problem slaying anyone just, whom would it be... he rest his head back, closed his eyes and thought, We shall see...
