Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Logan walked towards the mountain he had mined at previously. When he arrived he once again found a boulder, and pulled the pickaxe out of his inventory. He was here to try the mining skill out. As he soon as the rock broke into pieces he saw the notification...

Logan was excited about the the prospect of leveling up soon, and the fact that he could get exp while mining. He added the attribute point onto endurance to help with his stamina problem. He mined 9 more silver colored rocks when he saw the notifictation...

Congratulations on leveling up!

+5 attribute points

+5 mastery points

acquired skill: [Stealth]

Logan mined a few more rocks before he had too much metal to fit in his inventory.

(His inventory is limited right now)

He went back to the blacksmith shop and unloaded all the metal into the bins. Conan was pounding on a long piece of metal. He was building a sword for a hunter that came through the village earlier. Logan watched Conan pound the metal into the shape of a sword. The sword was slowly forming as Logan walked towards the back room. He wanted to open the chest in there while Conan was busy. He moved into the room quietly. He glanced over at Conan, but Conan hadn't noticed anything off yet. He walked over to the chest and opened it. A quick flash of light as the lid fully opened. When the chest opened he noticed what looked like words coming towards his head. He didn't have time to react before the words disappeared into his head.

Congratulations on obtaining [Quest Function]!

Logan was completely shocked by the unexpected gain.

"It looks like I can get functions for my game system from chests, I wonder if other players in this world can get them too." Logan thought. He soon snapped out of the initial shock he got from obtaining the [Quest Function]. He looked back inside the chest only to find what looked to be a book of some kind. He grabbed it when the system notified him...

Obtained item: [Athea]

Logan glanced quickly over the notification before making sure nothing was in the chest before closing the lid.

Logan could still hear Conan's hammer pounding in the the other room, so Logan moved as quietly as he could out the door. Conan didn't notice Logan exit the room so Logan just walked back over behind him.

Half of an hour later Conan finally finished the sword. It was long, wide, and it also had a slight curve to it. The handle of the sword was wrapped in deep, orange colored leather. The sword also had a thin, slightly curved cross-guard, just large enough to prevent it from slipping out of someones grip. The cross-guard also had a jeweled twist on each side, which meant that the sword needed constant care and dedication. The sword itself looked quite simple. It had no markings or engravings, which meant it most likely was for someone who would use it a lot.

Conan examined the sword with care a few times before wrapping it in leather and setting it on a table, which Conan just brought inside. Conan noticed Logan standing behind him looking at the sword in interest.

"Take a look but don't do anything to it." Conan said with a proud voice. He was obviously proud of his work. Logan moved over and opened the leather, and touched the sword. When he touched it he didn't try taking it so just the stats of the sword showed up.

Equipment: [Diamond Swiftblade]

Level: 10

Effects: Energy Drain: 10% chance of draining targets energy when in contact with target.

Requirements: Level 10, Strength 10, Agility 12

The blade was for a adventurer that was quite strong. But Logan was still curious about if NPCs also had levels. But he would have to figure that out later, right now he needed to learn as much as possible about this world before leaving the village.

Logan wrapped the sword again, before moving towards the door. As he was doing so a sharp voice stopped him.

"Before you quit for the day, you have to pound some metal for 1 hour with a 50 hammer. You can leave when you're done, and make sure to take a bath, you need it."

After Conan quit talking he brushed past Logan and went out the door. Logan sighed inwardly. He felt tired and dirty but he obediently gabbed the 50 pound hammer off the rack, and walked over to the forge. He gabbed a piece of [Numb Metal], set it on the forge, and started pounding. He soon realized he was still extremely weak as he tried to lift and swing the hammer. As the hammer slammed the metal with a loud "Ding" another notification showed up in front of his face...

Congratulations on obtaining job: [Blacksmith]!

Logan was stunned by the notification. His heart beat increased as he realized what happened. He had gotten another job.

"If I can get a job just by trying it a few times, doesn't that mean I could get every job I tried to do." Logan was truly excited by the discovery.

He swung the hammer again and saw the familiar notification...

+1 mastery on blacksmith

+5 exp

When Logan finished his hour of pounding his arms felt extremely sore. They ached with every move he made with them. He set the hammer down carefully, and walked out the door with a expression of pain etched across his face.

When he walked out of the door, the surroundings were completely dark. He grabbed the torch from his inventory and lit it in the furnace that was only red embers left. He moved back out and moved towards the treeline on the edge of the village. His reason, well, he didn't want to sleep inside the blacksmith shop again. And he didn't have anywhere else to sleep at the moment. He made up his mind to find somewhere to stay the next day.

Logan arrived in the forest and he soon found a place that looked comfortable enough and sat down. He opened the system panel and looked at the skill [Stealth] that he had gotten a while back.

[Stealth]

Required for each use: 5 energy

Effect: User can turn invisible for small periods of time. Skill lasts 5 minutes before cooldown is required.

Cooldown: 5 minutes

As soon as Logan memorized the stats, he then pulled [Athea] out of his inventory. It was a book that looked to be quite old. The cover was made of rough folded leather. The corners were slightly torn, most likely from being used. He opened the book when he saw a map. It was of a continent, the continent was split into 5 countries. He studied the map for a while before turning the page again.
