Chapter 18: Planned Out Attack?

"That's enough."

Jin stopped using his Aura and the skeletal avatar disappeared. Yang and Ruby already made their way back to the group, so he wanted to join with them now.

Walking back to his fellow students, he was then greeted by their shocked expressions.

"What?" Jin asked.

"Doing that wasn't necessary you know..." Ruby meekly said.

They were then suddenly interrupted by a loud caw. They all look to the sky and saw that the giant Nevermore was now circling around them

"Uh, guys. How are we suppose to deal with that?" Jaune asked as he points up.

"We don't need to, our objective is right in front of us." Weiss said as she looks at the temple.

Ruby nodded in agreement, "She's right. Our main mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliffs. There's no point in fighting these things."

"Run and Live. That's good a plan." Jaune said happily as he gave a thumbs up.

Ruby and Jaune then proceeded to go to the temple and grab an artifact for their partner. They walked up to the small stone podium, and Ruby gazed at the 'artifacts' that stood on top of it.

'Chess Pieces? These are the relics we had to collect? Really?'

Ruby just decided that now wasn't the time to question it. After taking a moment to decide which piece to grab, she eventually settled on the White Knight piece, next to her, Jaune grabbed the White Rook piece before both of them smiled at each other.

Satisfied, the two then turned back to join the rest of the group. Meanwhile, the giant Nevermore continued to circle overhead, preparing for another 'feathery' run on the small group of fledgling hunters.

They then heard some trees crashing down from their left, and in that area, revealed another Death Stalker.

"Seriously? Another one?!" Jaune whined at the sight of another problem.

But wait! There's more!

The group heard some slithering noises in front of them, and in the area, revealed a King Taijitu.

These Grimms were a gigantic snake that has two halves, one white and one black, that are joined in the center with a head at each end. They have the classic bone-like mask with red marking on their head and several fangs in its jaw.

Seeing another Grimm appearing before them, Jaune whined again, "Oh, great. Even more monsters to run away from."

They then heard some trees crashing down again, but was now accompanied with loud growls. This time, it was on their right, the group then turned to the area. The ground was trembling as it got closer, and there, came out an unusual looking Grimm.

The beast resembled to that of a large gorilla, but this one towered at the height of three meters.

Like many other Grimms, it is covered in black skin, with bone-like plates covering its body at certain places like armor, as well as having a bone-like mask and red eyes. Its fists were also encased with bone-like armors, possibly making them capable of generating shockwaves when they would strike something using those terrifying pairs.

It was a Beringel.

"What the heck is that suppose to be?!" Jaune loudly whined yet again at the sight of a fearsome-looking Grimm.

Yang just smiled helplessly as she sarcastically said, "The best day of my life."

'Weird.....Where did all these Grimms come from? Is it because of my presence? And where the hell did that Beringel come from? It shouldn't be found here in the Emerald Forest.' Jin mentally sighed as he silently made a plan in his mind.

"Guys." Jin called out to the group.

Everybody then turns to look at him as he continued in his dialogue.

"I have a plan. I'll distract those Grimms and lead them away, while you guys make a run for it and head to the cliffs."

Yang's eyes widened at her brothers words before her face changed into anger. Her eyes turned red as she held on to her brother's shoulders and yelled at him.

"WHAT?! ARE YOU CRAZY?! I'M NOT ALLOWING YOU TO BECOME BAIT!"

"Fighting several gigantic Grimms at once is too much for all of you, especially that Beringel, you'll be crushed by it if you're not careful. So you guys need to make a run for it while I lead them away. We have to do it, there's no other plans here that could work."

"No! You are going to run away with us! I'm not gonna let you do something that stupid!" Yang exclaimed as she strongly gripped her brother's arm, not intending to let him go.

Weiss pulled his clothes before persuading with a pleading look, "She's right. You don't need to do this. Just come with us."

Jin just sighs as he putted on an assuring smile, "Look, I promise that I'll be okay. I'm just going to lead them away and not do anything dangerous."

Yang was about to protest again, but she was interrupted by a screech from the Death Stalker as it charges towards them. The rest of the Grimms let out their own beastly cries before they similarly charged towards the group.

"You need to go now!" Jin said as he managed to shake off Yang's grip and he ran towards the Grimms.

"JIN! NOOOOOOOO!"

Yang screamed as she prepared her gauntlets and was about to help her brother, until a hand suddenly grabbed her shoulder and made her stop. She turned around and saw that Ruby was the one holding her.

"What are you doing?! Let me go!"

"Yang, we need to trust him. Let's just do our part." Ruby said in a convincing tone.

She also didn't want to let her twin become the bait. But she knew Jin's abilities too well, and couldn't really find a reason that he would get badly hurt against a few Grimms.

Afterall, she's seen him handle more compared to their current situation.

"Don't worry about me. I'm also the fastest here, remember? They'll never catch up to me." Jin said out loud as he turned back and gave them a reassuring smile.

Yang had a troubled look on her face before she reluctantly turned back and started to run away with group.

"Well, they're gone now.....Hehe, time to have some fun." Jin said to himself as a smirk appeared on his face.

But then he saw something unbelievable.

The Death Stalker and the giant Nevermore, actually ignored him and they chased Ruby's group instead. The King Taijitu and the Beringel were the only ones coming after him.

'So those two Grimms are really fated to be the first ones that they will slay together. Well, I guess its necessary for them to know how to work together.'

As Jin was looking back at them while thinking about some things, the Beringel already closed-in on him and it loudly growled before proceeding to smash him with its enormous fists.

Jin sensed it and he quickly raised a hand up, blocking the dangerous attack. A shockwave was formed on impact and the ground beneath them shattered! But Jin was unharmed and he didn't seem to have some trouble on holding off the Beringel's fists.

'Even if we were to put Yang in my shoes, then her arms would've break from this kind of smash.'

Jin then suddenly punched the beasts arms and it was ripped off with a loud boom. The Beringel growled in agony before its head exploded like a watermelon from Jin's sudden punch at its face.

The Black-headed part of the King Taijitu then suddenly lashed at him with its fangs gleaming with cold light. Jin dodged its attack with a side-step and he jumped over its head.

*Boom!*

With a loud thunderous punch, the Black-headed part was killed instantly as it was pummeled down to the ground, its head looked like it was deformed by a powerful force.

Jin then dashed off to the White-headed part and quickly punched its sides, blowing off its head with Grimm guts and white substances flying everywhere.

The fight didn't even last a twenty seconds, and Jin already killed the Grimms off easily and brutally.

"So much for my sisters worry..."

He then turned back, wanting to go to the cliff and join the gang. He felt that they would need some help in dealing with that gigantic Nevermore that was twice the size than the one they should've encountered.

Jin was about to walk away, until he suddenly heard multiple howls behind him.

"Beowolves.....and it looks like there's alot of them."

The ground was even trembling as they were getting closer, as if there were an army of them that was charging at his location.

The howling was getting closer, and in the next few seconds, the Beowolves presented themselves in front of Jin before all of them charged at him in a bizzare formation.

Jin turned into a blur as he charged at the Beowolves with no fear, he then proceeded to blow their bodies off with a single punch, either they exploded or there a large part of their bodies was blown away. Though, the Alpha of the pack had its head exploded.

But it wasn't over yet.

A pack of twelve Beowolves howled as they charged at him from the side, he turned to see them and he was surprised at what he saw on the surroundings.

Indeed there were another pack that was running towards him, but looking at the right, he could see some other Beowolves running in circles, was grouping up with the others, and was getting into some bizzare positions, there were even some Alpha's mixed in.

"What the hell are they doing?"

Jin was weirded out by their strange actions and he scoffed it off before attacking the Beowolves that threw themselves at him.

After a few seconds of exploding and blowing large parts of their bodies away, Jin was already done but then another pack immediately pounced at him, andd he still managed to take care of all of them without any problems.

But now, there were two packs that was charging at him yet again! This time, he was attacked from two sides and they were even charging at him with a strange and seemed to be strategic formation.

The Alpha Beowolves, as well as some other Beowolves of the respective packs were even just standing at the sides, they seem to be waiting for an opportunity to do a sneak attack if his guard was ever down.

'This kind of attack pattern is...'

Jin was surprised at how the Beowolves were doing their attacks and was properly taking battle formations, it can be said that it was well coordinated and it well thought out, as it really made use of their numbers advantage and some of the blind spots of their prey.

If a team or even two teams of hunters were here instead of Jin, then they would definitely be overwhelmed by this kind of coordinated attack and they would've already suffered some losses.

But it was all useless to Jin as he was too strong, he managed to kill off the Beowolves that was sent at him in the strategic flanks and directions so quickly, making their tactics all for nought.

They didn't even make him busy enough and give a chance for the others to do a sneak attack on him while he was distracted.

He was killing the cannon fodder so quickly and his senses were so terrifying that he couldn't be sneak attacked, and his stamina wouldn't wear down so soon.

'Who's commanding them? If it was just a 'variant' Alpha Beowolf, then how come its this smart?"
