Chapter 4: What is He?!

The sun is shining, the students walk lazily through the hallway giving live to the Prestigious Black Lotus Academy.

A lone figure with uncommon black hair, casual clothing and indifferent demeanor walk lazily followed by a girl with white vest and black skirt with a bag on her hand. The contrasting couple caused many hushed whispers where ever they go. Be it good or bad.

Glancing at every class board that they pass, the group continues their walk unbothered… at least the indifferent one does.

Meanwhile the unsuspecting class 3-2B:

"Have you heard? There's going to be a new teacher…" A girl whispered to her friend with a curious face.

Her friend, a blue haired pony tail girl with dead pan eyes lifted her brows… the only indication that she's listening. She closed her books and glanced to her friend.

"The history teacher? Mr.Ramon's replacement, correct?" she ask slowly yet clearly a glint pass through her eyes.

They aren't the only one who have heard the rumor it seems as the class was unusually rowdy, yet their topic of conversations remains technically the same.

"I heard the replacement teacher is a war veteran from the 5th great war!" one of the boys whispered excitedly

"A war veteran? Come on… I don't want to be taught by an old gramps they'll keep telling us their life story without teaching anything…" his friends answered dejectedly while slumping on his chair.

*creak*

The whole class fell silent as two figure steps in. A beauty and a beast… a beast who hasn't got his morning coffee and is forced to keep watch on a bunch of kids without massacring them.

Then the whisper continues. One of envy, disappointment and intrigue to the contrasting couples.

MC pov:

I walk leisurely to the teacher's table in front of the class, a chalk board to my left. With Grea closing the door and following suit behind me. Silent and not so silent whisper could be heard all around us and quiet down as soon as I reached the teacher's desk.

"My name is Dante your new history teacher… and I'm not interested in your questions so keep them to yourself" I declared with a dismissive tone before sitting down.

Would you look at that… they can't even keep their emotion in check… at least use some creative insults you dimwits… not that I can say it. Oh look Grea is trying to calm them down to no avail…

Well… to a little avail… they started calming down as soon as I yawn, probably realizing it's futile to get emotional.

"Fine… I'm going to go mad if you kids started screaming on every one of my lessons… if you have questions just ask them if not then quit screaming…"

Like a practiced move all of them raised their hands in sync. Further increasing my headache.

"For…" I paused, cussing in the classroom is counterproductive… let's try a different approach "You, circle glasses girl"

Good enough.

She put her hand down and stood up. "How… how old are you?"

"21, I guess… yeah… I'm 21 years old…" I replied with a hint of doubt. Truth be told even I can't remember how old I currently am. Though judging from my look I'm currently 21 so let's go with that.

"That young? The other teachers are in their 30's min…" somebody muttered.

Sigh… "You, the boy in the corner"

The male student stood up and pointed at Grea. Unpolite f*ck

"Who's the pretty girl next to you, teach?" He screamed with a sense of superiority, followed by the other male students gazing at us curiously.

Startled, or perhaps unused to the attention she's getting she hid behind me.

"Her?" I pointed behind me with my thumbs "She's my assistant… nothing more, nothing less."

"What about you? Blue haired girl" I pointed at the blue haired girl that sits in the back, middle row.

Everybody turned around as she stood up. With a determined expression she glared at me menacingly… God damnit I've encountered a troublesome one.

"My name is Lilith, Lilith Maria…" she paused, as if telling me to remember it.

"Look… I don't know if you understood polymix (common language) or not but… I'm asking if you have any question or not… I don't care about your name, Blue" I sighed and glanced around the class.

She visibly redden and glared at me harder… if that were even possible. "Let's get to the point then… who are you exactly…?"

Taking a deep breath, then sighing heavily "I'm a new replacement teacher for the history class… something I clearly stated 5 minutes ago… is that not clear enough? Or do you want me to draw it with a crayon?"

Clearly displeased, she approached me menacingly… at least according to her.

"Do you have a teaching certificate?" she stopped in front of me with her hands on her hips. Uncaring to the tense atmosphere that have descended on the classroom. Some even glared at me like I'm the one provoking her.

Well this sucks… welp… let's get this over with "No, the headmaster invited me personally, anything else? Princess?" I replied lazily and deliberately stressed the last part.

Guess not, her expression twitched a little but she still doesn't budge at all. Disbelieve plastered all over her face.

Damn it, no wonder I hated being a teacher…

The bell rang, signaling the start of the lesson. Lilith glared at me one last time before going back to her seat.

The bell seemed to dispel the tense atmosphere, albeit slightly. Grea started distributing the document about the studying plan for this month.

"Ancient magic, magic flow, magic neutralization, Martial Arcane arts, Spell development… hold up…" I muttered while reading the document in front of me.

Scanning the students in front of me my eyebrows rise in confusion. I saw Lilith wielding a mage stick, a whole set of arsenal from swords to bows, a holy grimoire, an undead tome, iron bracelet from two toned student, wizard robe, talismans, even the plain one is hiding a knife in her sleeve.

Diverse is a major understatement.

"Shouldn't the university separate class according to their class?" I can't help but ask the nearest student.

Their mood suddenly turned solemn and the class went quiet, then Grea pulled my clothes to divert my attention about the other class's student. Which strangely separate the students according to their class.

"We're undesirables from the other class, those below standard get sent here by our teachers." Lilith answered while raising her voice.

The mood turned heavier, fear and anger visible on their faces. I can understand that being segregated because of capability is logical though it doesn't feel nice.

What I can't understand is… what's Lilith doing here? Her mana circuit is on the higher end of the spectrum.

"Why? You didn't do your homework or something?"

The boy with the blue wizard robe stood up, anger visible in his face "I was cast out because apparently 'I can't follow order'. Just because they doesn't want to hear about my opinion on how to cast more effectively…"

One by one they protested while telling their story.

"They use different book from the one our headmaster gave us and were forced to buy and use their book!"

One by one I can see the pattern, these students were gifted and those fools of a teacher were inhabiting their potential with pathetic excuses. Slowly I started changing my opinion regarding all of the teachers here.

Hindering the potential of your students just because of stupid reasoning is out of the line and something lit up inside of me. Spite is one of the best motivator that I can tell you.

Maybe this is why Alexandro wanted me to be a teacher here.

I saw a stack of book under the teacher's desk… I took all 5 of them up and drop them on the desk. "Is this what they taught you with?"

They nodded.

"That's what Teacher Ramon uses to teach us. He said that's the only book that tells the true story of the ancient heroes."

I've got a bad feeling about this… ancient heroes? That's my past lives isn't it?

Who the hell acted like they knew about my pass? I don't remember accepting any interview after my 4th life…

Curiosity got the better of me as I opened the book and skim its content.

Student Pov:

It started with whispered modern cussing "what the fuck…? What….?"

Then ancient swear words from ages forgotten started showing up "Those Fop doodle can absolutely sard off"

Then he visibly snapped and he started chanting as he threw his hand in the air and screamed.

"Void explosion!"

A black orb appeared on top of him and absorbed the book he held without affecting anything else in the room.

Then it collapses on itself before disappearing…

"AsKing FoR MoNeY aNd WoMen aS cOmPensaTion… He didn't even manage to get to the feast because there was a monster attacking the village nearby and fought 8 hours straight starving…" I muttered aggressively before staring at the class.

The class fell silent admiration and fear visible on everybody's face. Who is this monster?!

Yet before they can rationalize what happened he grabbed another book and started skimming rapidly.

Then without even cursing once he threw it to the side "Collapse" it floated before it flipped on itself rapidly until it vanished out of existence…

"HuMaN ExPeRiMenT fRoM kIdNapPeD vIcTiM Is tHe HeRo'S IdEa! HA! They can suck my A*S HE WAS THE VICTIM! REALLY?! HIS IDEA?!"

The class, even Grea for that matter is completely silent as the new teacher vent with his mythical magic one after another like it was lifestyle magic. He seems to have a personal grudge to the author of those books.

Those who sits in front of the class has evacuated to the back row out of fear.

Even Grea was cuddling with the students.

"STEALING A SACRED OBJECT?! KILLING THOUSANDS BECAUSE OF IT?! THAT THING WAS CURSED! Summon Blaze Scourge"

Thousands of small fireflies… literally swarmed the book and left as quickly as they appears… leaving no trace of the book behind.

Spells of age long passed was thrown one after another to destroy mere books that can be solved with simple spells like "Ignite".

He stopped and muttered something under his breath. He then glared at us and pointed at a poor wizard. Which shattered the moment the monster pointed at him.

"YOU!"

"EEP!" The once oh mighty wizard screamed like a trap "Y-Yes?!" He squeaked.

"Tell me this is a joke… history, principal of magic, even handling a magical anomaly is to send someone and hope for the best? Tell me this is a lie… right?" the new teacher calmed down a little and asked the student.

"Y-yes… that is a joke…" the wizard squeaked a little

"You serious?"

"NO sir… I mean yes…" the class glared at him "I mean no…" the teacher than glared at him causing him to walk backward a little "No sir… that's not a joke"

He took a deep breath to calm his nerve and re evaluated the classroom… he seems to realize something as he visibly calm down.

He turned around and face the chalkboard behind him, lift up his right hand and swipe his hand on it. In a flash the once empty chalkboard was filled with magical formula.

"I've separated your notes from each of your capabilities, throw away or destroy your old notes I'm going to tell you what REALLY happens in the past but first, I need to rest…" He said while slowly sitting on my chair and let the tension leave my body.

We curiously glanced at the chalkboard, in fear of triggering a fit from the new teacher though the moment we read it our jaw slowly fall.

"Advanced spell casting… Advanced Rune crafting…" The wizard started opening his notes and started scribbling madly.

"Aegis defensive techniques and how to cast magic as a knight 101… how… doesn't matter I've got to write these down!" The knight too took out his notes and scribbled madly right next to the wizard.

The air is still tense, yet there is an unspoken excitement in the air of achieving powerful knowledges.

With the sound of pen scribbling and occasional gasp of wonder here and there, Grea visibly relaxed and went to make tea that I told her to bring.

The smell quickly filled the room as the tea is finally ready, she put it in front of me "your tea, sir…" Smiling timidly.

I took a sip and let the relaxing feeling spread through me as I visibly sigh and relax further.

Then my guts tingle, indicating someone's staring at me with intent. I stealthily casted a detection spell, only to realize those intent was from the students. All of them were staring at me… or more accurately my tea.

"You want this?" I asked while moving the cup to the left, their gaze followed the cup. Then back to me and nodded.

"Okay, I heard ice breaking activity is good for times like these… listen up you lot!" I shouted and stood up.

All of them stopped writing and sit in a straight position with their gaze straight at me.

I put the glass in the middle of the class "Lesser barrier!" a bluish bubble emerged and enveloped the cup.

"Those who's able to break the barrier gets to drink the tea! You can use every means necessary as long as you don't damage anything else in the class!"

"Float" the glass slowly rose from the ground still protected by my barrier "Starting… now!"

I walked back to my seat while Grea opened a bag of snacks for us to eat.

They still have a few doubts, the first to get up was a knight that sits in the front row… he grabbed his sword and get into position.

He took a deep breath.

Slash! Clang! Crack!

The sound of metal hitting metal resounded in the classroom as his sword slipped out of his hand and landed on the ceiling.

"What?" he whispered in disbelief as he stared at his empty hand… then to the ceiling.

"Mr Artos… I said break the barrier not the ceiling, you failed… next!" I waved dismissively as I took a cookie and ate it.

"PIERCE!" An ethereal white spear appeared behind the wizard and move as fast a bullet to the cup before passing through it and break the floor behind the cup.

"Okay who's here who doesn't understand Polymix? I said the cup's barrier! And NOT the classroom…"

They tried from magical attack, sharp weapons, blunt weapons, enchanted weapons someone even tried to punch the damn thing. Though the barrier stood unbothered.

Like the fairy tale of old, when all hope seems lost a hero appeared to help those in need. Lilith confidently walk forward her staff tapping the ground rhythmically. She glanced at the barrier, closed her eyes and start chanting.

"O sky, you who watch us and gave us life, hear my plea and pass judgement to my enemy! Lightning Judgement!"

A lightning bolt strike from the runic circle behind her and strike the barrier for a full second before dissipating. The smell of ozone and smoke filled the air as paper flew everywhere.

Not bad, there's still room for improvement but for now… that's enough. It took a lot of mana out of her if her panting while kneeling is any indication.

The smoke dissipated a few second later, showing a crack on the barrier. Causing a cheer to erupt from the students. Even Lilith allowed a small smile to adorn her face.

Grea smiled gently and she seemed exited for them too.

I stood up, and the whole class went silent again. The tense atmosphere hung in the air again, Grea's and Lilith's smile vanished replaced with a worried expression.

I approached the cup and wave my hand, dispelling the ward and with a simple telekinesis move the cup in front of Lilith.

"Good enough, you earned it… I didn't expect you to be able to break my barrier anyway so drink up,"

Though Lilith seems to disagree. "I've just cracked it, it's not even a big crack…"

Shaking my head, "I said if you can crack it a little or break it you'll get to drink it…"

She wanted to disagree but the smell of the tea and the hopeful stare from her peer caused her to give in and took a sip.

*sigh* "…This is bliss" she muttered softly with a calm expression.

Realizing it's going to get cold soon, she gulped the tea in one swig and with a cheerful expression delivered it on my table. She bowed low in thanks before returning to her seat.

"How did it taste? Don't just smile there smugly, tell us!" Lilith's friend demanded with a curious expression.

"Feels like heaven…" she answered with a small smug smile on her face.

Meanwhile, Grea approached me and whispered while smiling softly at the students. "Looks like you've found a way to guide them, sir Dante"

Glancing at Grea I returned my attention back to Lilith that were surrounded by her friends. Unknowingly I let my lips curled up ever so slightly. Not that any of them realized it.

And that was my first experience with my further students. Unknown to us, the hidden forces of the world was already starting.
