Chapter 1: Mate
(DAPHNE'S POV)
I walked towards my locker while clenching my books closer to my chest. People's gazes snapped to my direction every time I'm walking down the hallway. I was practically run-walking because I was pretty much feeling uncomfortable under their gazes considering the fact that their gazes shows their extreme disgust. I stopped my tracks when I was in front of my locker and I was about to open it when a hand grabbed my shoulders as I was slammed to my own locker.
" Well look who's here." I raised my head so I could look at the person who is chocking me as of this moment and I was met with an awfully very familiar blue eyes.
Shit! It's Jacob! Our alphas son and also the about-to-be Alpha of our pack.
"W-what do you want Jacob?" I asked stuttering a bit at the first part.
Real brave me. I mocked myself.
"I want nothing except ..." He trailed off then I felt a fist connect to my stomach. Pain shot right through my stomach then Jacob loosened his grip on me and i was dropped to the ground.
God! That hurt like a bitch!
People started laughing and giggling at my misfortune but a certain familiar giggle caught my ear. I raised my head to search for the owner of the voice till my eyes landed on an awfully familiar blonde woman. Chelsea. My supposed to be EX best friend.
Remind me to kill that bitch if ever I have a chance.
I was still here in the ground, clenching my still-in-pain stomach. When People started clearing out I slowly rose up from the ground only to fall back down because of the pain that I was feeling on the pit of my stomach.
Ughh! What is that guys fist made of? Stones and bricks? Or a really hard dick? Hey that rhymed! Anyway This shit would probably take days to heal considering the fact that the one who punched me was an about-to-be Alpha!
I looked at my wristwatch to check the time and I was deeply shocked.
"Shit! I better go before the bell----" I was cut off.
RRRRIIIIIIINNNNNGGGG!!!!
"Rings." I finished as I heaved a long sigh.
Well I guess somebody's cutting today.
I slowly and carefully stood up from the dirty ground not really minding the dirt that was in my jeans and shirt. I was walking while limping because every step I take would send a wave of pain. And I was never fast at healing.
"Fuck you Jacob!" I cursed with a voice that's only above a whisper.
I went back to the pack house and I went straight to my room. I dopped down on my cold hard bed and drifted off to sleep.
I was having the best moment of sleeping when an awfully familiar voice boomed from down stairs.
"Daphne! You useless bitch! Come down here!"
Ughh! I hate the owner of this voice!
I heaved a long sigh once again as I limped my way down stairs only to find Aunt Nelly glaring daggers at me with her hazelnut colored eyes.
"Hey Aunt Nelly!" I greeted with fake enthusiasm.
"You useless bitch! Now where the hell is my food? And the food of the other wolves?" Aunt Nelly asked.
Well let's just say that you are stupid enough to forget that I wasn't able to cook because it's school day. Remember?! Nevertheless I answered her with politeness.
''I'll go prepare it right away!"
" You useless pup! You're useless as a wolf hell you're even useless as a mortal!" Aunt Nelly mumbled clearly forgetting the fact that I have a heightened sense of hearing and that i could hear her just fine. Nonetheless what she said pierced right through my heart. Even though I have heard this line all too many times I still can't help but get hurt because of it. I continued to walk the kitchen and started cooking for the whole pack.
If only I could escape this effin hell hole!
After a few hours a disgustingly familiar scent went inside the kitchen.
"Where is my food?!" I turned to look at a familiar blue eyes that I came across with just this afternoon.
"Don't worry Jacob I'm almost done." I said as I rolled back my eyes silently.
Impatient Douche.
"Did you just roll back your eyes at me?" Jacob asked in disbelief.
Holy shit! Crap!
"What are you talking about?! Of course not. I wouldn't dare to disrespect our future Alpha!" I panickly said.
"Good. You better know your place... Bitch." Jacob said as he went out the kitchen. Good thing he has a big ego.
Thank God the Douche is gone!
I went back to cooking and when I was done I went back to my room and when I lay down I could see the twinkling of the night through the hole on my roof. Yes my roof does have a hole because my room is up here in the attic. I stared at the beautiful sky when I noticed a glow on it.
First star! I should make a wish! Okay let's see.... I wish everything will be all right and I wish that my candies will be double the amount tomorrow.
Gosh I can't believe that my happiness was this shallow.
Okay I know that you're thinking that I'm so naive because I believe in wishes and whatever. What's wrong with wishing upon a star? It's free so anyone can do it!
Maybe you're wondering I still believe in stars even though Im Already an about-to-be adult.
Maybe it's because the stars are the only thing that gives me hope.
Because before I had no hope whatsoever but one night when I was wishing on a star for a candy the very next day I found a candy beside me. I gave up on Everything well...ALMOST everything because I still haven't given up on my emergency candies that I placed on the back and of my cabinet.
I stared at the stars when finally my eyelids begin to feel heavy and I finally drifted off to sleep.
*sound of sirens*
What the hell?!
My eyes fluttered open when I heard the noise of a siren.
Again. What the hell is going on?
I turned to look at the time on my alarm clock.
2:32 A.M
The fuck? What the hell is happening this early in the morning?!
The sound of the sirens where still echoing through the pack house. I closed my eyes and focused on my hearing sense so I could hear what the people were yelling from below.
"We are under attack! Women and children go to the safe house and stay there and wait for further instructions!" The voice of our beta; Francis yelled.
"All men keep your guards up and protect the women and children and the have been safely moved to the safe house !" The booming voice of Jacobs father; our Alpha can be heard followed by a series of " Yes Alpha!"
Wait. What? Shoot! we're under attack!
I jumped off my bed as I hurriedly got my backpack and I filled it with undergarments and clothes but I made sure to prioritize my emergency candies and some junk foods. I did a double check to see if I didn't forget or miss anything and when I was really sure that I brought everything I needed I went out my room only to get stuck in a series of panicking people.
It was hard but I finally managed to get out of our pack house. I ran to the direction of the safe house when I heard an awfully familiar whimper from the woods.
I think I know the person who owns that voice! Should I go? Maybe I shouldn't it would be risky because the pack who attached us might be there! But..... What if that person dies?! It will be on me!
I changed my pathway and I started running to the direction of the voice. When the whimper was getting louder I followed it until I saw Chelsea on the ground with a bloody arm and Jacob in his wolf form. Jacobs wolf is may bigger than any average wolf because he was of an alpha blood line but the wolf that he is facing was 2x bigger than Jacobs! It was a ridiculously huge black wolf!
The black wolf has a blood shot red eyes that I somehow can't look away from. It was as if I can't look away from the black wolf.
God his huge. No sexual jokes intended.
Mine. A voice said.
Wait. What was that?! Did someone just speak?
Mine.
There it goes again! What the hell is going on?!
I was busy wondering as to what the voice was when I finally snapped and I saw that the black wolf was about to lunge at Jacobs weak wolf.
Wait who cares if Jacob's loosing? He was mean to me so why should I care? And who cares if Chelsea's gonna be torn to pieces? She betrayed me plus let's not forget that she was a huge bitch.
I was about to do a U turn when I heard Jacobs whimper and I can't help but stop my tracks. I heaved out a sigh.
I hate my conscience!
The black wolf was about to lunge at Jacob but I interfered and I used my body to protect Chelsea and Jacob.
"What the! Daphne?!" Jacob yelled in disbelief.
Both of you fucking owe me for this!
"I'll go and distract him you go and carry Chelsea to the safe house!" I ordered him.
"Who are you to order me around?!" He growled.
"Just pick Chelsea the fuck up and just send her to the mother fucking safe house! Or do you want her to die because of blood loss?!" I yelled at him. He quickly got what I said as he carried Chelsea bridal style and without even a glance left me here alone with the big bad wolf.
The black wolf growled at the retreating figure of Jacob and soon faced me.
I'm gonna die. I'm gonna die. I'm definitely gonna die.
The black wolf stared at me and I was mustering my courage to stare back but I could definitely feel the tears that's welling up on my eyes but I pushed it back.
The black wolf growled but this time he growled straight at me.
And here comes my early death. Well at least I get to live for 17 and a half years. Although those years weren't exactly the best if I say so myself.
I closed my eyes and waited for pain to come. But I felt nothing. All I heard were a series of bone cracking . I waited for a moment then I slowly opened my eyes and there I saw a man.
Wait was he the black wolf?!
"Who are you to interfere a battle among alphas!" a small whimper slipped my mouth and I swear I'm regretting the fact that I got to act hero. " You shall lead me to the way of your safe house!" The mans commanding voice boomed all over the forest. And realization hit me.
Oh shit! His the alpha of the pack that attacked us! Shit this is bad! bad! Bad!
No shit Sherlock's!
A voice once again said. But I just shrugged it off and focused on the problem at hand.I was gulping down huge chunks of saliva when I finally found my voice. I started gaining the courage to speak.
"Y-you may be an Alpha but you are not my alpha so I am not obliged to follow your orders!" I stood my ground and I stared at the alphas black eyes.... That's weird it was supposed to be red.
The alpha went near me and grabbed my shoulders .A wave of pleasure was sent to every parts of my body and I smelt a series of smell it was like.... I can't explain....mint I guess? The smell felt so addictive. I wanted more and it seemed like he felt what I'm feeling because his eyes turned red once again.
And in an Instant I was enveloped on a comfortable warm embrace.
"Mine!" The man growled.
And that was when everything clicked. I'm his mate. I'm his. And he's mine.
Well this seems... Interesting.
