Chapter 23: The Quarry.
His departure from Clay village was set to few days later. Those people weren't his responsibility, still prescribing and mixing herbal mixtures allowed to improve his intelligence.
'There no quarries around Amber village… I need to prepare some practice materials for later!'
He decided to head to their quarry. It was huge and deep, there were signs of multiple generations working and expanding the area. Getting stock of stone for future was must. Sculpting could raise proficiency of masonry, so it was like killing two birds with one stone.

'Everything goes to storage. I won't have problems with lacking a space.' His mind focused on words of the system. 'Resource areas' meant more useful areas waiting for him to unlock them.
'Quarry for stone…Mines? Infinite resources?' His greed was ultimately triggered, only thing left was to find required things to acquire new functions.
'Clay? I wonder if this can unlock new space.' Boy started digging hole away from village, it would cause at least suspicions of any onlooker. Grave? Treasures? It would trigger unnecessary attention to his actions.

'Unlimited potential, huh! I should build pottery wheel and start creating new products.' It would be stupid to give those people something for free. Getting profits from them was currently impossible. Sick and unfocused, another issue was nearing harvest time of spring crops. Pottery could be only sold or exchanged in city as most people would focus on food and warm clothes during exchange.
'I wonder if it's possible to generate marshlands inside of space.' It was just weird idea inside of his head. Farming space could grow any plant and it ignored special requirements of plants. He went to closest swamp and started absorbing dirty water.

'I didn't care about water source inside of space. It's possible to just eat to increase your hydration, however life-giving liquid is still the best!' It's inconvenient to move water into space from time to time.
Creating some water body or well is necessary to save time and trouble. Easiest way to absorb great amount of water would be some kind of lake or river. There were only swamp and wells. Constructing artificial lake wasn't hard, although it was time consuming and troublesome.
'I will tie rope to tree and jump into well!' Clay village was quite empty and it was perfect opportunity to do such thing. Most of villagers had their own wells, area was rich in underground water sources.
White-haired boy checked his surroundings. None was around to witness his odd actions, he tied rope and jumped into well. The rope wasn't long, his plan was to be able to reach water with his hand. Taking bath in drinkable water wasn't smart move.

Animals inside of ranch started mate each other and some of mammals were already pregnant. Aron decided to stop gathering eggs and let chickens start incubation.
[Process of breeding is controlled by system. Defective animals will be forbidden from mating. Host should eliminate all of bad quality animals to improve population.]
'What about interbreeding and small genetic pull? Won't it cause any problems?' It was called genetic erosion. Species with small population cause some genes to be degraded or depleted over multiple generations. Genes diversity is very important to evolution and survival of race. Things can be repaired by genetic modifications, it was out of his range at this moment.
[Host shouldn't worry about those things. As far new specimens will be provided, nothing should bad should happen to gene pool.]
'Are you modifying those animals genes?' His hopes were high, it wasn't just superior animals. It was gate for countless opportunities for him

'Cannot system remove their genetic defects?' It could remove his genetic defects some couple animals shouldn't be a problem.

Epidemy was stopped, all sick was getting better and luckily none died. Herbal mixture was miraculous and greatly strengthened immunity system.
It was time to go back to Amber Village, so boy started slowly preparing for his departure. Packing some herbs from outside to his bag, and pondering about future development.
Alex was waiting for him outside house with scarface. Man's expression betrayed entire scene, he got forced to come here for some reason.
"Hello. He came to apologize. Would you listen to him?" Clay village's chief tried to mediate between them.
Ugly man was gritting his teeth, situation wasn't comfortable for any of them. Feeling was similar to teacher forcing two children to make peace.
"I came here, to apologize for my attack. I was mercenary most of my life. I retired some time ago but all my habits remained…" Aron imagined this man as mercenary, it was hard as man was more like bandit or city's thug.
"Are all mercenaries weak as you?" Expression of Alex turned into disbelief.
'Here we go again…'
"Did you fuckin say I am weak?" Man lost control again, however this time Alex kicked him into ass. They had small talk and man left.
"Shit… Don't mind him… His personality is just like this…" Alex couldn't find better excuse for behavior of his friend.
"Are all mercenaries on his level?" Aron repeated the question to person with little bit more intelligence.
"You shouldn't talk about mercenaries in this way. It's fuckin asking for beating, kid!" Aron didn't react on man's remark at all.
"Are you threatening me, old bull?" His voice was cold, Alex insulted him once and little spar wouldn't hurt.
"Nahh, kid. I am aware of your strength. I might be not smart…" Their battle would end in his beaten body or broken bones. Aron was too strong, entire idea of swinging grown man in the air was ridiculous.
"What a shame…I wanted small spar…Maybe, next time? Or just forget about it…" White-haired boy couldn't play around with those people in this way. It was waste of time.
"I will visit another time. I hope your friend will be more hospitable to me. You know…My strength isn't easy to control…" Alex understood what boy was implying. There won't be next time for scar face.
"He is not bad man. His head isn't working properly…" Provoking stronger opponent once was considering mistake and doing it for second time was death wish.
They were walking into direction of village outskirts, and some villagers came to thank him personally. Kid scanned things in their hands and nothing was particularly useful for him.
"I cannot take your gifts. I need to hurry to my village and plant those herbs before it's too late!" His hands were full, and carrying another thing would be troublesome. He found great excuse of replanting herbs into Carl's herbal garden.
"Good bye. Don't worry, guys! I will come back in few days to check situation!" Aron said his goodbyes to villagers and left.
'Simple gratitude of saving life. Their lives are worth only few vegetables.' Infertile grounds used to farm, clay rich soil treated as simply as trash.
'Wasting natural resources. From being stupid to being just wasteful.' Ways of modern and medieval humans didn't differ much.
'I need to educate them or take control of all-natural resources in this world.' Method didn't matter at all, only results were important.
