Chapter 14: Guardian angle
Alice woke up with chilled sensation on her forehead. she open her eyes slowly then she spotted Nick sitting on the bed next as he put an icepack on her forehead.
Nick smiled when their eyes met while she had no expression.
"lets have dinner" Nick got the ice pack off from her forehead and held her hand, helped her to get up and led her to the dinning table.
Once again, Alice leg was following Nick command instead of her mind. Alice had no appetite, but he forced her to eat.
Once finished, they sat on the leaving room, he gave her the folder.
"Mr. Huang gave it to me, it's for you"
Alice took and opened the folder, there was a paper. She read the documents inside with shaking hands.
then she replaced the docs back inside the folder then just stared on the floor.
"He asked me to leave the house immediately. I can have my car. He will me me a hundred grand for compensation, it will be banked in next few days".
Nick was surprised that she told him her private matter.
"Do you have a place to stay?"
Alice shook her head.
" friend ?, relative ?"
Alice looked at Nick and shook her head again.
" it's late just stay here tonight"
Alice stayed in Nick placed that night. she could not slept, her mind replayed today event. Next morning, she got up early.
"freshen your self first". He handed her a clean towel and directed her to bathroom.
Alice went back to leaving room 15 minutes later, she looked better then yesterday.
"Lets go"
Alice thought Nick would take her home. But they went to have breakfast first in nearby Cafe, before headed to a real estate agent. It was saturday, real estate still opened, infact most of the inspection was done on saturday.
Nick talked to an agents for while, she didn't know and not willing to find out why they came there, it was not her business.
The agent took them to apartment block nearby, a 2 bedrooms and fully furnished , not big, simple but clean.
Alice looked around, she was checking here and there when nick tapped her shoulder.
"how is it?" he asked
Alice smiled and nodded.
"when do you need to move out?"
"soon perhaps"
"ok"
Nick walked to the agent and had another talk. Alice was confused, but she didn't say anything. The agent put a big smile then led them back to the office and ask them to wait on a small meeting room.
"Please take a seat, It won't be long"
"do you want any drink ?"
"can I have coffee, and hot chocolate for her if available , thanks" Nick asked politely
afterwhile, a young and quite attractive girl knocked the door and came with a glass of coffee and hot chocolate and put them on the table . "enjoy"she smiled gently.
"Thank you" Both Nick and Alice replied on the same time. Nick made a gesture for Alice to drink the hot chocolate while he was enjoying his coffee
"my dad make better than this" he muttered lowly. Alice looked at him and smile.
"I am sorry for making you wait, I am Stuart the property manager, nice to meet you" A middle-aged man came, he put a paper on the table and face it to Nick and put a pen on the table.
"hello, nice to meet you" Nick stood up and shook hand with Stuart, then followed by Alice.
"please read the contract first then sign it if both of you agree with it."
Nick read it, took the pen and signed it. Once he finished, he passed them to Alice, and made a signal for her to sign it as well. Confusedly, She put her signature on.
Stuart took the paper.
"Young man, your girlfriend is cute, she's very obedient. You have to treasure her more in the future"
"Thank you" Nick smiled.
"Miss, you also needs to treasure your boyfriend".
Alice speechless, she wanted to deny it but she decided to keep her mouth close.
"If you have any problem, contact me" Stuart gave nick his business card and copy of contract. "Here are 3 sets of keys and swipe cards"
"thank you" Nick took them and shook one more time, followed by Alice.
Before they left the the room, Nick took one set of key and swipe card. He handed the rest and the contact to her. "keep it" Nick made a signal for Alice to take it. Alice could not againts him, absent minded she took them and put them on her handbag.
After they left the property agent office. "My current apartment was arranged by the company, but I could stayed for 4 weeks. I need to find new place and move out within a week. I'll share with you, and we divide the cost half half."
"oh ok" Alice nodded
"You can moved your belonging on monday, but I am going to move in on the weekend"
"ok" Alice replied.
"Nick, Why are you helping me ?"
Instead of giving an answer, Nick titled his head and looked at Alice briefly.
"I'll take you home"
"But, My car is still in your place"
"Ok..Just go back to my place then. Give me your number" it's a command rather than request. Alice told him her phone number and he recorded on his phone. Suddenly Her phone rang
"keep my number and call me if you have any issue."
Alice watched Nick walking infront of her.
"Dear God, did you send me a guardian angel ?" her voice was so low, only her could here.
