Chapter 70: Genome Cyborg in Rosario+Vampire

This idea involves a very widely unknown game, so I'll have to do some explaining first, just so you guys have the required knowledge of the mechanics of the MC's powers. This game is unknown because of its mediocre reviews and the fact that it wasn't released in the U.S., but we're just using the powers from there, so the game itself doesn't matter. To start, the protagonist will be a Genome Cyborg from Project Altered Beast, a 2005 PS2 game, which is a remake of 1988 arcade game Altered Beast. In these games the main character is able to transform into various beasts, which grant him different abilities. I'll list the different transformations later, as well as their respective powers, but this paragraph was mainly meant to ease you in to the subject matter.

The world of choice this time around is once again, Rosario+Vampire, mainly because it is a finished product, and a lot of the forms in game appear as monsters in the manga. Speaking of which, let's talk about the transformations. The forms are Werewolf, Merman, Wendigo, Minotaur, Garuda, Dragon, U.W.H., Grizzly, and Weretiger.

We'll talk about them in order starting with the Werewolf. Now in-game the Werewolf is the first form available, and it shows in its capabilities, the form's only real strength is its jumping ability. In Rosario+Vampire, the Werewolf is a master of speed, with their power rivaling Vampires, their natural enemy, under a full moon. This also enhances their already surprising speed, making them nearly untouchable. It is an S-Class Monster, similar to Vampires, which means they are among the strongest beings. The sole example of a Werewolf in the manga, Ginei Morioka, was able to hold his own against Moka Akashiya, who is a Shinso-Class Vampire, the strongest of their kind. Now, it is entirely up to you if you want to give the Genome Cyborg the abilities of a Werewolf from R+V, but I think it needs them. It has nothing going for it otherwise.

Next up, we have the Merman, the sole aquatic form. It has gills to breathe in water, and can fire concussive bubbles, as well as shoot out a decoy to draw beasts away from itself. It's pretty lack luster, but it is decently fast and maneuverable in the sea. That's it, it is slightly more useful than the Werewolf, solely because of its aquatic nature, and there's nothing else to say. Aside from that its appearance is more Creature From The Black Lagoon than King Triton from the Little Mermaid.

That brings us to the Wendigo, which in my opinion should have been called Yeti, since looks more like a Sasquatch than the traditional appearance of Wendigos. It is, according to the Beast Data in-game, 309cm or just about 10ft tall. Now, you probably already guessed its ability, but I'll tell you anyway. The Wendigo has the power to breathe out a gas which can flash freeze just about anything. It is also extremely strong due to its massive size, allowing it to throw cars like a quarterback throws footballs.

The Garuda makes its appearance next, one of two different flying forms. Created to give Genome Cyborgs long-range flight capabilities, it is not as combat oriented as other forms. That's not to say it is completely defenseless, as it is capable of firing its razor-sharp feathers like throwing knives, as well as generating small tornadoes. An over-all useful form to be sure.

The Minotaur is next, its demonic visage makes it particularly memorable. This form was designed as a defensive measure, due to it being able to force its unnaturally high iron content out of its blood to form on its skin, turning into a statue of sorts. But it also comes equipped with impressive amounts of strength, able to demolish heavily armored beings with ease. As an added bonus, its mucus membranes also produce a volatile compound which instantly combusts on contact with the air. In other words, the Minotaur can breathe fire.

Next is the Dragon, which is the final story form you unlock in the game. It is called the Ultimate Beast Form, and is so powerful that it needed to be locked in a power station, just so that the incredible amounts of electricity it produces even in chip form can be contained. That's right, The Dragon produces high-voltage electricity, so its power is lightning. Its most powerful move is called the Thunder Cannon.

Finally we reach the three bonus forms, the Grizzly, the U.W.H., and the Weretiger. The Grizzly is able to petrify creatures using its breath, and it's appearance is that of a bear, as evident from the name. It does stand and walk on two legs, so not completely a bear. It also fights like a martial artist. The U.W.H., which stands for Unidentified Weightless Human, is a vaguely humanoid figure with black skin, unseen eyes, orange veins, and a mouth containing sharp teeth. It has absolute control over gravity, capable of crushing creatures with ease, and its strongest attack, called Gravity Crush, flips the world upside down and stops time, during this period whatever he hits will fall off of solid ground and into the air, coming back down when the move is over. The last of the three bonus forms is the Weretiger, and it is similar to the Werewolf, in that it basically boosts everything, but the claws of this form are a bit special. The claws produce a virus or toxin that prevents regeneration, and the Weretiger is strong enough to send out blades of air that carry this ability too, easily cutting through most beings.

Now, onto the weakness of a Genome Cyborg. They can't stay transformed for too long, as the transformation puts a lot of stress on the human parts of their mind. In game, this is shown by the steady drain of Spirit Energy and when that's gone the MC starts taking damage. They also require a tranquilizer or sedative to deactivate their chips. In game you basically have an infinite supply, but in the real world that won't fly. You'll have to figure out a way for the MC to get these sedatives, so stealthy raiding a hospital or pharmacy would be your best bet. But that would put your character into a moral dilemma, unless you're going for someone with no cares about others.

The problem with spirit energy is that only creatures created by the Genome Mist generate it. So, you'll have to improvise a way to gather it for the MC's future transformations. Obviously you could have it so the protagonist can absorb yoki and change it into spirit energy. Or you can have him generate the energy source naturally, so it replenishes while in human form.

As for the main character strength in human form, I'd say at their weakest they're peak human, at their strongest, I'd give them a similar strength to Modified Humans from the Rosario+Vampire series. That way it's not totally impossible for the protagonist to take out weaker monsters in his base form. Now, let's talk about Tsukune:

Obviously, I meant for the MC to take the place of the original protagonist, since this would be more of a wish-fulfillment type novel. I mean, it's super easy to write ideas for a reincarnation fic than any other.

It's been difficult trying to get back into writing these, even though I enjoy it so much. I mean, it's easy to write down the basic premise of these ideas, like it's just a title. But trying to push the point across is draining.
