Chapter 30: Little Celebration
The weekend ended and it was time for the finals. After all that studying, Ayumi was confident that she'll place first place again. "No phones, no notebooks, no nothing. Just a pencil and calculator," the teacher said as he was handing out the exams. "You have two hours, so please do well!" He continued.
The classroom was silent, everyone was working on their exams. Ayumi's pencil never stopped writing, her concentration was way deeper than the ocean bottom. Everyone took their time wisely to finish the exam. And junior year was about to come to an end.
When everyone finished taking the exam, they all left out the school happily and ran around as if they're free from hell. Kaya hugs Ayumi, "YES!! WE ARE FINALLY OVER WITH FINALS!!" She smiles back, "Yep! I'm glad we're over with it too!" Sanyu laughs, "It's been quite a long year hasn't it?" The two girls agrees. "Not 'quite' long, it IS long," Yuuto replies. Sanyu nods, "Yeah, perhaps."
Kaya takes Sanyu away for awhile and whispers to his ear, "Are you ever going to confess your love to Ayumi?" He instantly looks at Kaya, "I- I'm not sure of it yet." She pouts at him, "Don't wait until the end of high school, it'll be different from there on. Shoot your shot while you're still at it Pretty Boy!" He looks at the cement ground, "I'll think about it."
Sanyu talks in his mind, 'Do I really like her?' His mind is filled with thoughts, does she even like him? Will he get painfully hurt again like last time? He doesn't know the answer, he is stuck.
Yuuto flirts with Ayumi by messing around with her. "You're so short, how tall are you??" He laughs. "5'2" she honestly answers. Yuuto is shocked at her answer, "Really?! I thought you were at least 5'4??" He then laughs even more. "Okay..quit teasing around now," she tells him. Yuuto looks at her, "You're so cute." Her eyes widens, "Cute?" He puts his arm around her, "It'd be cute if you're with me." Sanyu and Kaya walks back to the two. "ARMS OFF MY GIRL!!!" Kaya pulls Yuuto away.
Sanyu looks at Ayumi, "What will you be doing tomorrow?" "Hm.. I'm not sure, I'm just waiting for the school festival and the results of the exams now," she smiles. Her smile warms his heart, 'what is this weird feeling in my heart?' He keeps questioning himself. "What about you?" She too asks him. "What? Me? Uhh~ nothing much," he awkwardly laughs.
Kaya goes over to them, "Alright! Let's all go to the mall to celebrate this day together?" Ayumi and Sanyu looks at each other then at Kaya. "Sure?" Sanyu replies. "That sounds great! A little celebration for us all!" Ayumi happily said back. Yuuto pouts like a jealous little kid and crosses his arms together, "And why am I not invited?" She runs over to him and drags him over to the group, "Fine~ Delinquent is coming along with us too~" He smiles, "It's always more fun with me."
All together, the four walked to the mall. Yuuto walked with Ayumi this time, while Sanyu walked with Kaya. Their places had switched. Sanyu looks at Yuuto flirting with Ayumi, he wants to stop it, but there's nothing he can do when he isn't even clear within himself if he likes Ayumi or not. Kaya looks at Sanyu, "I never really ask questions like this, but I'm curious now. How exactly tall are you??" "5'10" he answers straight away. Her jaw drops, "Pretty Boy you're freaking tall!" He laughs a bit.
"The height difference between Ayumi and you is so cute," she laughs. "It's cute?" He questions. She nods, "Yes! Because she's so small and cuddly for you. I'm pretty sure you too think of it as cute!" He smiles for a slight second then asks her, "So then, how tall are YOU? I'm guessing 5'5?" She gasps loudly, "You're right!! I AM 5'5!!"
Yuuto plays with Ayumi's hair as they walk together. "Your hair smells very fresh? Like a fruity kind of smell. I like it." She laughs, "You like fruity smells?" "Perhaps I do now~~" He looks at her up close. She smiles, "Cool to know." "I think you would look nice with bangs. I mean, you already look so beautiful without bangs at all, but I'm just saying that it'd be cute if you have bangs," he gently smiles at her.
"I've never really considered having bangs, I don't like how it gets all over my face," Ayumi says. "Well you should reconsider that," he laughs. She smiles as she walks with him.
"Really, I wonder when will the teachers set up our end of junior year field trip. I'm just waiting for that to happen soon!" Kaya happily talks. "What kind of field trip would it be?" Sanyu questions her. "Ehhh most likely a camping field trip? 3 days and 2 nights?" She answers. "Seems cool, I'll look forward to it." He says.
About 20 minutes later they arrived at the mall and spent their entire day there all together. Yuuto mostly stayed by Ayumi's side, fed her food, and even bought her little gifts. Sanyu couldn't stay still the whole time, he wanted to separate the two and be with Ayumi, but he didn't do anything because of his uncleared heart. He hanged out with Kaya, who only stayed in the food court area and the book sections.
She picks up a journal and sadly smiles at it, "I bought my brother one of these." Sanyu can feel her slight sadness, however he doesn't ask why, "Do you want one? I can buy it for you." She looks at him and laughs awkwardly, "Me? Oh no. I'm not really a journal writer type~" He grabs the journal from her hands, "You don't need to be one, something like this can remind you of a precious memory that you engraved deeply inside your heart." He can tell by looking at Kaya, that her brother means everything to her.
His words penetrates through Kaya's little heart. It shakens her. 'Why did his words mean so much to me?' She questions herself. He buys the journal and hands it back to her, "Please accept it. This is a cute journal I'm sure you'll like it a lot and keep it forever." She smiles, "Thank you..Sanyu." He smiles back at her, "Yeah, no problem."
Yuuto takes Ayumi to every little shop and buys her many gifts. "You don't need to buy me so much things, how will I pay you back..?" She asks him. "You don't need to pay me back! These are just gifts!" He laughs at her. Ayumi doesn't feel right, she feels like she will HAVE to pay him back somehow.
Kaya and Sanyu meets up with Yuuto and Ayumi an hour later. "It's time to go home now people," Kaya tells them. Ayumi nods her head, "Yeah, it's getting late anyways." Sanyu sees all the gifts Yuuto bought her, he wants to throw those gifts away. Kaya also sees the gifts, "Waah! For me?!! Thank you so much!!" She grabs all the gifts from Ayumi then hugs her with happiness.
"Hey! I bought those for-" Yuuto gets cut off by Kaya. "For me?! Awe! Delinquent how kind of you!" She happily accepts the gifts. Ayumi smiles, she now doesn't feel too bad about the gifts. Sanyu feels relieved.
