Chapter 7: Khaumridge

Khaumridge was the leading city in magic use and practices in the country. This was of course due to fact that Khaumridge had the number one school of magic, elements and powers. Where the average city has a few 1000 mages Khaumridge has it population mainly made up of mages and students of the magic college, having a rough 1 to 3 ratio of mage (mages being one and normal people being the other two) it had well over a 100,000 mages out of its 350,000 people. Ignatius had told King all of this to better prepare him for a new life here in city and college. King then asked "if Khaumridge has 400,000 people then the one mage in very three doesn't make sense if there is only 100,000 mages"? Ignatius nodded, and noted this furthering his idea that King was from a rich family. "That tally was at the start of last year. Since then the population has grown by 100,000 so is no longer accurate". King was impressed, he had never heard of any city in his birthplace to have more than 200,000. He could not what to get there.

Being pulled through Khaumridge was easier than King thought, even with everything Ignatius had told him he couldn't believe that people would just not pay attention to horses of fire pulling a carriage! Everywhere King looked there was either a house or shop and all the buildings were 2 levels at least, one was even made of glass and had people who King believed to be elementals of earth or air because they were trying to have the glass building be even higher. Out on the streets people were walking around and using abilities all over the place, on the left King saw two fire users breathing fire. King asked Ignatius could do that and was shocked by the replied. "Don't get swept away by something like that. Any decent fire elemental to could do that". The venom in his voice was so heavy King was utterly shocked and dumbfounded, it was the loudest Ignatius had ever spoken to King. King was about to say ok but he had seen a very peculiar building. It looked it didn't look like a castle from an old tale about knights and princesses. Cold gray walls, A large door made of what looked like twice the thickness of the trees in the valley behind them, there were many towers pointing into the skyline and a large moat surrounding the fortress. King's draw dropped when Ignatius said "welcome to magic college" his voice was fill in with such awe. King was dumbfounded when Ignatius said "welcome to your new home, for most likely the next few years. I remember my first time seeing the building as well, don't worry about that because it's actually much nicer inside". A new home. What a funny thing to say King thought. A new home for the likes of him, that was… well King didn't know what that was. Ignatius then said " we will have to speak with the Warden but all should go well" Ignatius couldn't really do a encouraging voice but this was close enough King thought. And isn't a Warden a prison officer, King would not be surprised if he was placed in prison, but not by Ignatius. Definitely not Ignatius.
