The day drew towards its end.. I started a fire, grabbed our blankets and we sat by the mountain dog. Occasionally, Recoil would lean in close to him to listen to his heart beat..
I smiled at her and found that I had her hand in mine.
We watched over the dog together, there was no apparent change either negative or positive.
Unconscious we couldn't give him water. We had pressed clean cloth against his wounds which when we changed had stopped bleeding.. soon I fell asleep..
The next morning I awoke to find Recoil sitting by the Ovcharka, she had sat up all night watching him.
I listened to the dogs breathing, it was breathing evenly and not laboured.
I smiled and without thinking hugged Recoil, surprisingly she smiled and hugged me back..
I tended to the fire, made us tea and some food, then wandered around the camp clearing my mind.
But instead of my mind clearing, the thought emerged - a Ovcharka Mountain Dog with a red political officers enhancement...
