Chapter 1: God is Missing: Li Jun's Retreat
"Why is God not on the list of participants? What happened?"
"I thought it's just me! What's going on?!"
"I am also wondering the same thing! There must be mistakes when they posted the list!"
"I don't think so! ESport's news won't be as clumsy as that!"
"Then what happened to God?"
"Where is God?!"
The online forum of ESports were flooded with different posts. But all of these posts have the same idea..
Where is God?
What happened to him?
Why is he not on the list?
The questions were like wildfire, spreading through every gaming forums online.
The person they were anticipating to participate again this year in the tournament was not found on the official participants list! And that alone had caused huge commotion in the gaming community!
Every year, a game called Heroes holds a tournament exclusive for teams in the pro-league. This game was very popular in China that it gained million players nationwide. Aside from that, the pro-league was created afterwards.
Among this pro-league players, a certain person stand out among them. He was known with many nicknames but now, he was most widely known as the God of the Battlefield. For the past five years, this god conquered the pro-league championship and won the MVP throne three times.
It's not an exaggeration that this achievement alone was the way that earned him many fans.
So, it's not a mystery why people were fussing over his name not listed on the official participants list.

In a dark alley, there were two shadows with just few meters distance from each other. These two people were very unlikely to be together but because of the same habit they had, this spot was their haven.
"Are you really just gonna stand by and do nothing? Look, even though we belong to different clubs but when we are not in the club, you are like a comrade to me!"
The woman's face showed frustration while reading the forum posts and comments. The reason for her frustration was that the guy in front of her seemed to not care at all as to what was going on.
"Li Jun! Are you listening?!"
"I am." The man turned around to face her, "and I understand your frustration. However, you know quite well why I can't respond to them. I'll just retreat from the gaming industry silently."
His face was void of emotion as he looked down at his left hand. The hand that secured him the MVP throne for three consecutive years. Meanwhile, memories of the past bursted inside his mind. It was fun filled memories from the moment he started playing until he became a pro and now, he was gonna leave like a lost puppy just because he got tricked.
"I think, this is the perfect time for me to retire. I've been playing for five years now. It's about time I should stop." Li Jun mindlessly murmured but Xiao Mei did not believe his words. She could see that it wasn't the words that his heart wanted to tell.
Xiao Mei sighed in defeat without saying another word for a minute. She knew that no matter how much she tried to persuade him, it ain't gonna change the fact that Li Jun could no longer play anymore.
Afterall, his left hand, got extremely injured.
"But atleast let them know what happened to you!" She persisted.
"There's no need. Years later, there will be another God in the Battlefield. That's just how it is. And it will continue being like that. This game... will endlessly produce a God year after year. Until people forget me."
Xiao Mei's eyes closed for a second. His words were true but it did not mean she would agree to it.
"Whatever! Just make sure to come back!"
"Let's see..."
The two parted ways after their short talk. Their back was facing each other. The woman displayed her disappointment through her face.
They may be enemy but she can't deny the fact that she had big respect for the guy.
While the subject of her disappointment continued to act indifferently.
